    Abstract: A variety of skills have shaped the teaching and learning of chemistry in the early 21st century. This includes fundamental changes in chemistry such as changes in understanding of how students learn, the application of computer and information technology in studying complex scientific phenomena, and others. Responding to this problem, chemistry education which originally used a "triangle shape" must be emphasized into a "tetrahedral" form, where the fourth peak represents the human context in studying chemistry or is called the human element. Highlighting the human element provides compelling reasons to emphasize case studies, active learning, and investigative projects to link school chemistry to everyday life. This study aims to describe the phenomena that exist regarding the human element in chemistry learning, especially in textbooks. This research is a qualitative research with descriptive analysis technique with library research. The data used are secondary data derived from textbooks and scientific articles. The existence of human activities involved in learning chemistry provided in textbooks, helps students learn from rich contexts. Learning from a rich context makes learning chemistry more motivating, interesting and relevant to their lives, thus helping students understand chemical concepts well. Therefore, the importance of the human element involved in learning chemistry, especially in textbooks.

    Abstract: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran pengaruh penggunaan model pembelajaran dengan pendekatan saintifik menggunakan representasi tetrahedral kimia terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi literatur. Data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah data sekunder. Data sekunder ini diperoleh dari buku dan artikel ilmiah berupa artikel. Prosedur penelitian dilakukan melalui beberapa tahap yaitu merancang topik serta tujuan penelitian, melakukan tinjauan, melakukan analisis data, dan menulis ulasan. Hasil penelitian studi literatur ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan model pembelajaran Problem Solving dan Problem Posing menggunakan representasi kimia  berpengaruh terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Kelas yang menggunakan model Problem Posing memberikan hasil belajar yang lebih baik. Model pembelajaran lainnya seperti Project Based Learning, Problem Based Learning, Constructive Controversy, dan Inkuiri Terbimbing yang mengunakan representasi tetrahedral kimia tidak memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Dengan kata lain, keempat model ini memberikan hasil yang sama baiknya terhadap hasil belajar siswa.

    Abstract: Tujuan kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan petani peternak dalam mengolah danmengawetkan limbah pertanian sebagai solusi ketahanan pakan. Target khusus yang ingin dicapai antara lain peningkatan produksi ternak melalui penyediaan pakan sesuai kebutuhan ternak baik dari aspek kualitas maupun kuantitas. Kegiatan PKM dilaksanakan di Kelompok Tani Harapan Sejahtera yang berlokasi di Kelurahan Aia Pacah, Kecamatan Koto Tangah Kota Padang. Penyeluhan dan praktek yang diberikan kepada peternak adalah pengolahan silase jerami jagung manis (Zea mays saccharata Sturt) dan Jerami padi (Oryza sativa) menjadi amoniasi. Metode yang digunakan dalam melakukan pemberdayaan kelompok sasaran adalah teknik pembelajaran dalam bentuk pemberian teori, penyuluhan dan praktek kepada anggota kelompok sasaran. Luaran dari pengabdian ini adalah Kelompok Tani Harapan Sejahtera dapat memberikan motivasi kepada peternak untuk mengolah limbah pertanian menjadi pakan berkualitas. Setelah dilakukan penyuluhan peternak menjadi paham dan termotivasi dalam mengolah limbah pertanian menjadi pakan berkualitas untuk ketahanan pakan khususnya di musim kemarau. Luaran lain dari pengabdian ini adalah mengelola limbah pertanian menjadi produk yang bermafaat dan bernilai ekonomi. Kata kunci: amoniasi jerami, kelompok tani harapan sejahtera, limbah pertanian, silase ABSTRACT The current extension service is to improve the knowledge and skills of farmers in processing and conserving agricultural waste as a solution for feed security. Specific targets to be achieved include increasing livestock production through providing feed according to livestock needs, both in terms of quality and quantity. The extension service activity was carried out at the Harapan Sejahtera Farmer Group located in Aia Pacah Village, Koto Tangah District, Padang City. Counseling and practice given to farmers are processing sweet corn straw silage (Zea mays saccharata Sturt) and rice straw (Oryza sativa) into ammonition. The method used in empowering the target group is a learning technique in the form of providing theory, counseling, and practice to members of the target group. The output of this service is that the Harapan Sejahtera Farmer Group can motivate farmers to process agricultural waste into quality feed. After the counseling was carried out, farmers became aware and motivated to process agricultural waste into quality feed for feed security, especially in the dry season. Another outcome of this service is managing agricultural waste into valuable and economical products. Keywords: agricultural waste, harapan sejahtera farmer group, rice straw ammoniation, silage.

    Abstract: Students' conceptual understanding on acid-base topic has not been assessed comprehensively in multiple representation. The test instrument is needed to determine levels of students' understanding on acid-base topic comprehensively. This research developed an instrument to asses students' understanding on acid-base concept based on macroscopic, sub-microscopic and symbolic levels that is claimed valid, reliable, had good difficulty index and discriminatory item. This research is Research and Development (R & D) using Rasch model. The research procedure adopted ten stages by Wei, et al in 2012. The research instrument is questionnaire sheet given to subjects from chemistry lecturers and chemistry teacher. The data were analyzed using Rasch model assisted by minifacet and ministep software. The exact agreement value is 89,2% which have small range from the expect agreement with a percentage of 89,5%. It’s mean that, there is a fit between the results of expert's agreement and the results of estimated model. The pilot test results showed that all items have reached valid criteria based on the MNSQ, ZSTD, and Pt-Mean Corr. The reliability value is 0,80 in the good category. Difficulty index has variations of easy, medium, and difficult items. The discriminatory item is able to distinguish three levels of student ability.

    Abstract: This study aims to determine and analyze network performance with quality of service parameters in realizing good and optimal network performance quality so that it can be adjusted between the efficiency of network needs and the effectiveness of user access at the Communication and Informatics Office of West Sumbawa Regency. The process of accumulating data is obtained by measuring the quality of service parameters using the quality of service method and measuring bandwidth load distribution with the load set at 30 Mbps. The quality of service method on the network, the influence between the variables of network performance quality on the internet connection, and the bandwidth capacity of each user are known. The study results from the quality of service analysis at the Communication and Informatics Service of West Sumbawa Regency entered the excellent category with an average throughput value ranging from 10,320-1,026,454 kbps from the fourth index being in the excellent category. The average packet loss value of 0-1.5% of the third index is in a good category, with the highest value occurring on the fifth day, 1.5%. The average delay value ranges from 7-150 ms, with the highest delay value occurring on the first day due to the user's distance from the remote network access source and queues in dense packet transmission. The average jitter value of 1-12 ms from the third index is in a good category, and the maximum result of the bandwidth value set in size is 9,092,407 bps

    Abstract: Chemistry Teacher Association of the 5th region in West Sumatera is a discussion media for chemistry teacher in Sijunjung, Sawahlunto, and Darmasraya District. There are 33 Senior High School in these area with 42 members. They have difficulty in implementing Problem Based Learning and Project Based Learning model due to lack of understanding. Some expected competences in the 2013 curriculum require teaching learning process to be conducted by PBL dan PjBL particularly the competences with operational verb “designing and creating”. Moreover, they do not have any teaching material based on PBL and PjBL since these kinds of learning models have to provide contextual problems related to chemisty topics. Students will propose solutions and products, via discussion and project. The training successed in guiding teachers to compile 8 PBL and 6 PjBL learning materials.

    Abstract: This research aims to describe the compatibility between the structure and content of Merdeka’s curriculum on green chemistry based on the revised Bloom's Taxonomy, Dave and Dyers' Taxonomy, and chemistry textbooks. This research is descriptive with a qualitative approach with a content structure analysis research design derived from the Model of Educational Reconstruction (MER). The data collection technique was carried out based on a literature study, while the data analysis technique was carried out based on the Milles and Huberman data analysis technique. The instruments used were standard content analysis tables and structural analysis tables. The standard content analysis table was prepared according to the revised Bloom's and Dave and Dyers' taxonomy. The content structure analysis table measures the breadth of the material, guided by the senior high school textbook from the Ministry of Education and Culture, and the depth of the material is guided by the Handbook of Green Chemistry and Technology by James Clark & Duncan Macquarrie. The research results obtained  (1) Elements of chemical understanding were following the revised Bloom taxonomy, (2) Elements of process skills only dominated abstract skills, (3) Elements of the Pancasila student profile contained abstract skills and the realm of attitude. Whereas in content analysis, (1) the breadth of material on the learning outcomes of green chemistry is by high school books from the Ministry of Education and Culture, (2) the depth of material contained in high school chemistry textbooks published by the Ministry of Education and Culture has not explained in more detail less in presenting the questions, and some material is was not suitable to be placed for phase E high school based on the Merdeka’s curriculum.

    Abstract: Classroom Action Research (CAR) is one of the activities which teachers must carry out to improve and develop their professionalism. This community service activity aimed at train and improve the professionalism of chemistry teachers through CAR activities. The method was conducted with lectures, discussions, questions and answers, and workshops on proposal preparation, literature searching, CAR implementation, report, and CAR research articles preparation. The number of participants is 34 who are the members of MGMP Kimia Kabupaten Tanah Datar. There were six meetings with the total time was 36 hours in July-December 2019. The instrument used was a questionnaire. The data obtained were analyzed using the percentage and equation techniques of Kappa Cohen's. Based on the results, of the 34 participants, 15 CAR titles were obtained, 11 CAR titles were carried out, 8 CAR reports were produced, and 4 CAR articles were drafted. Based on the teacher's questionnaire responses, the kappa moment average value was 0.86 which categorized as very high. This data showed that the classroom action training activities provided can improve the professionalism of chemistry teachers in preparing proposals, implementing, drafting reports and articles. This training activity still needs to be continued to obtain CAR articles that have been published in several national /international journals or proceedings.

    Abstract: RNA extraction is the critical initial stage in analyzing certain gene expressions, further analysis using Real Time PCR technology, and performing virus detection. However, the process of extracting RNA is often hampered by the risk of contamination, resulting in low concentrations of RNA and low purity of RNA. This is often an obstacle in extracting mosquito RNA especially detecting Dengue Virus (Den-V). Dengue virus (Den-V) can cause dangerous diseases in humans such as Dengue Fever (DHF) which is transmitted through the bites of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes. This study aims to find out the effective steps for extracting RNA from Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes. The method being compared is a commercial RNA extraction kit with modification (addition of β-mercaptoethanol) and without modification. The results showed that the best DNA concentration and purity were obtained in mosquito samples from modified process. The purity ratio of RNA extracted without modification was 1.971 (0.021 ± 0.800) while with modification it was 2.003 (0.011 ± 0.112). Aedes aegypti had a better average concentration of 7.146 µg/ml for unmodified RNA and 7.613 µg/ml for modified RNA. This research is expected to be a reference for further studies on viruses in Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus.

    Abstract: Jorong Rimbo Janduang is located in Nagari Lingkuang Aua, Pasaman District, West Pasaman Regency. The main livelihoods of the local people are gardeners and traders. There are many types of plant vegetation in Jorong Rimbo Janduang, some of which can be the main source of food for bees, but the community around the location has not cultivated stingless bees (galo-galo). Raising gallo-galo is different from raising cows, goats, and chickens because we do not need to look for food every day, as long as there are lots of bee-feeding plants growing around it. The success of gallo-galo cultivation is 70-80% influenced by the availability of feed sources in the form of nectar, pollen, and resin obtained from forage plant vegetation around the cultivation site. This community engagement activity aims to increase the knowledge and the desire of the community for stingless bee farming, increase the vegetation of forage plants around the location for beekeeping, and improve the community's economy. The methods used were counseling, mentoring, training, and modeling. The method of implementing science and technology is carried out by applying several technologies according to the objectives of these social services.
