Abstract: International interest in the conceptualization and contribution of mental well-being to all aspects of human life is increasing day by day. There is an increased evaluation of initiatives on mental health promotion and the demand for development and validation of instruments at a population level to monitor mental well-being. The present study describes the validation of a scale that comprises different characteristics of positive mental health. The scale was validated among married individuals in Pakistan through Confirmatory Factor Analysis. Internal consistency and construct validity was explored by correlating the WEMWBS and other scales that revealed the convergent and discriminant validity. A single factor hypothesis was supported by Confirmatory factor analysis. Chronbach alpha reliability was found to be 0.90 (married couples). WEMWBS showed high convergent validity with happiness scale and relational humor scale. It also showed high discriminant validity by negatively correlating with perceived stress scale. The scale was normally distributed across the population and did not show ceiling effects. WEMWBS should plea to those evaluating initiatives on promotion of mental health; therefore, it is vital to establish the sensitivity of a scale before it is recommended in this context.

Abstract: Objective: To investigate the degree of association between Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction positivity and  seroconversion after natural COVID-19 infection in Multan, City of Pakistan. Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Place and Duration of Study: Combined Military Hospital, Multan Pakistan from Apr 2021 to Sep 2021. Methodology: In this study, 219 Healthcare Workers with suspected SARS-CoV-2 infection were screened via Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction for viral genome, followed by detection of corresponding antibody response in serum samples within ten weeks of their first exposure against spike protein via Chemiluminescence immunoassay. Results: There was a significant association between positive RT-PCR and detectable corresponding antibodies (p=0.001). However, we found no evidence of an association between age and RT-PCR positivity and between age and detectable antibodies (p=0.874 and 0.842, respectively). Furthermore, results indicated no association between gender and RT-PCR positivity and between gender and detectable antibodies (p=0.536 and 0.285, respectively). Conclusions: It is concluded that antibody detection against SARS-CoV-2 virus spike protein is a useful laboratory tool for screening for COVID-19 infection. Keywords: Antibody test, Asymptomatic cases, COVID-19, Healthcare workers, PCR, SARS-CoV-2.

Abstract: Objective: To determine the diagnostic accuracy of Aspartate aminotransferase/Alanine aminotransferase ratio in hepatic cirrhosis keeping liver biopsy as a reference standard. Study Design: Cross-sectional analytical study. Place and Duration of Study: Department of Medicine, Nishtar Hospital, Multan and Combined Military Hospital, Multan Pakistan, from Dec 2019 to Mar 2020. Methodology: Two hundred and fifty (250) patients were consecutively picked according to inclusion and exclusion criteria after approval of the institutional review board. Blood Samples were collected from patients for serum alanine aminotransferase and serum aspartate aminotransferase after informed consent who had undergone liver biopsy and Batt Ludwig was the staging system used to stage liver cirrhosis. They were interpreted at Nishtar Hospital Multan Pakistan and analyzed in Combined Military Hospital Multan Pakistan by using the Spectrophotometry technique by IFCC certified enzymatic method. Aspartate aminotransferase/Alanine aminotransferase ratio was derived which represents hepatic cirrhosis keeping liver biopsy as a reference standard. Result: 230 patients out of 250, fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Kolmogorov smirnov test showed data is non-parametric. The Aspartate aminotransferase/Alanine aminotransferase ratio for diagnosing hepatic cirrhosis in patients with hepatic cirrhosis, its sensitivity, specificity, negative predictive value, positive predictive value and accuracy were 72%, 68%, 89%, 41%, and 69% respectively. The receiver operating curve proclaims that Aspartate aminotransferase/Alanine aminotransferase of 1.7 with an area under the curve was 0.795 which is consistent with histopathological findings of hepatic cirrhosis in liver biopsy. Conclusion: To conclude, Aspartate aminotransferase/Alanine aminotransferase may be wielded as an incredible diagnostic tool for patients suffering from viral...

Abstract: Management practices/strategies to re-modulate the wild behaviour of animal species could increase their number in natural areas. The captive herd of hog deer showed slight changes from wild behaviour due to captive stress with no alteration in wild behaviour pattern except captive stress. Adult males (6), adult females (6) and fawns (6) were selected and observed round the clock for thirty days across season after one-hour interval on each activity. All subjects in hotter part of the day spent more time in sitting and rest. While, few hours of night in sleeping, resting and rumination. Fawn spent more time in sitting, resting, and hiding compared to adults. During wandering, they also spent some time in standing. It was noticed that all hog deer in herd not slept together but few of them remain active. Only male fighting was observed and maximum was noticed in August and September during breeding season. Hog deer were mainly crepuscular in feeding with irregular short intakes, and grazing on grasses present in enclosure. This study provides guideline to rehabilitate wild hog deer for better breeding management, conservation and raising practices.

Abstract: The current research investigated the relationship among identity management strategies, sports fandom and para-social relationships in cricket fans. It was hypothesized that there would be a relationship among identity management strategies, sports fandom and para-social relationships while sports fandom would mediate between identity management strategies and para-social relationships. By employing a cross-sectional correlational research design, a sample of (N = 120) cricket fans with an age range of (18-30) years (M = 22.34, SD = 2.62) was recruited through non-probability purposive sampling technique. Study variables were assessed through the Basking in Reflected Glory Scale (Spinda, 2009), Cutting off Reflected Failure Scale (Spinda, 2009), Sport Spectator Identification Scale (Gwinner & Swanson, 2003) and Celebrity-Persona Identification Scale (Brown & Bocarnea, 2007). Results revealed a positive association among all study variables while sports fandom was found to partially mediate identity management strategies and para-social relationships in cricket fans. Findings have interdisciplinary implications within the fields of group dynamics; sports sciences, sociology and social psychology as it is a research-based, empirical addition to existing indigenous literature regarding cricket that is the most popular game in the country. Also, it highlights the respective association and predictive value of the study variables which can be further investigated across other games, as well as across disciplines.

Abstract: Introduction: A public health program intends to improve the health care services in society to lessen the disease burden particularly in the case of non-infectious diseases. This research work investigates the knowledge, practice, and attitude of pharmacists in community health programs offered by the government concerning their demographic associates. Methods: A cross-sectional survey from 75 registered pharmacists is conducted in Lahore, Pakistan to explore the role of pharmacists in public health programs by using a self-administered questionnaire from January 01, 2021, to January 15, 2021. The collected data is analyzed through frequencies, percentages, and a chi-square test of association. Results: Most of the pharmacists were in favor that the disease burden can be reduced by indulging pharmacists in public health programs. Many pharmacists already working on public health issues were screening of the blood glucose, blood pressure, obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and smoking cessation. Conclusion: Like many other countries, Pakistan may also effectively accomplish its public health goals by offering training to the pharmacists and retaining them in public health programs at the pharmacy level.
