Abstract:
In der folgenden Arbeit werden die Vorgänge bei der Ionisation durch Elektronenstoß im zeitlich veränderlichen Magnetfeld B z (t) einer Thetapinch-Spule diskutiert. Diese Vorgänge sind stark abhängig von der im Gas bereits vorhandenen Ladungsträgerdichte. Bei geringer Ladungsträgerdichte ist das elektrische Feld nicht rotationssymmetrisch, und die Ionisation ist hauptsächlich auf die Umgebung des Spulenschlitzes (Stromzuführung) beschränkt. Von einer gewissen Ladungsträgerdichte an werden äußere elektrische Potentialfelder abgeschirmt, gleichzeitig werden aber infolge ungleicher Bewegung von Elektronen und Ionen innere Raumladungsfelder erzeugt. Es wird versucht, eine annähernde, selbstkonsistente Beschreibung dieser Bewegung zu geben. Bei starker Kopplung von Ionen- und Elektronenbewegung (Quasineutralität) bewegen sich Elektronen und Ionen in radialer Richtung so, als hätten sie beide die gleiche Masse von der Größe des geometrischen Mittels aus Ionen- und Elektronenmasse, m = (m i m e ) ½ Die Elektronenenergie W wird charakterisiert durch die Größe μ=W/|Β z . Bei linearer Veränderung von B z mit der Zeit, B z ∼ t, ist μ für | t | ≫ (m i m e ) ¼ /|e B z ½ eine periodische Funk-tion in t 2 . Ihr Maximalwert μ max für ein Elektron, das zur Zeit t 0 losläuft, ist gleich dem (m i /m e ) ¼ fachen des Wertes von μ eines freien Elektrons, das zur Zeit (m e /m i ) ¼ t o seine Bewegung am glei-chen Ort r o begonnen hat. Für |t 0 | ≫ (m i m e ) ¼ /|e B z | ½ I ist insbesondere μ max = ½ m i v D 2 (r o , t o ) /| B z (t 0 )|, v D = E ω / B z (t o )= ½ r o B z / B z (t 0 ), d. h. ein Elektron gewinnt in seiner ersten Bewegungsperiode eine Maximalenergie JFWmax von der Größe der lIonendriftenergie. Auf Grund dieser Ergebnisse werden Schranken dafür angegeben, wie lange bei einem beliebigen Verlauf von B z (t) Ionisation möglich ist. Diese Schranken geben den experimentell gefundenen Streubereich der Zündzeitpunkte beim Thetapinch gut wieder. Es wird auch der Fall diskutiert, daß an Stelle des Wirbelfeldes Ε φ = ½ r B z ein statisches elektrisches Feld angelegt wird und B=const ist. Die in diesem Fall, z. B. bei rotierenden Plasmen und ähnlichen Anordnungen beobachtete kritische Geschwindigkeit v c = (2 W i /m i ) ½ W i =Ionisationsenergie des verwendeten Gases) könnte sich vielleicht durch die oben beschriebene Grenzenergie W max eines Elektrons in einem solchen Feld erklären lassen.
