Abstract: Konwencjonalny proces uzdatniania wody jest obecnie prowadzony w zakładzie uzdatniania wody Thu Duc (TDWTP, miasto Ho Chi Minh, Wietnam), w którym surowa woda jest pobierana z rzeki Dong Nai i z przepompowni Hoa An.

Abstract: To evaluate the safety and early outcomes of autologous bone marrow mononuclear cell (BMMNC) infusion for liver cirrhosis due to biliary atresia (BA) after Kasai operation. Methods An open-label clinical trial was performed from January 2017 to December 2019. Nineteen children with liver cirrhosis due to BA after Kasai operation were included. Bone marrow was harvested through anterior iliac crest puncture under general anesthesia. Mononuclear cells (MNCs) were isolated by Ficoll gradient centrifugation and then infused into the hepatic artery. The same procedure was repeated 6 months later. Serum bilirubin, albumin, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, gamma-glutamyl transferase, and prothrombin time were monitored at baseline, 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months after the first transplantation. Esophagoscopies and liver biopsies were performed in patients whose parents provided consent. Mixed-effect analysis was used to evaluate the changes in Pediatric End-Stage Liver Disease (PELD) scores. Results The average MNC and CD34+ cell counts per kg body weight were 50.1 ± 58.5 × 10 6 /kg and 3.5 ± 2.8 × 10 6 for the first transplantation and 57.1 ± 42.0 × 10 6 /kg and 3.7 ± 2.7 × 10 6 for the second transplantation. No severe adverse events associated with the cell therapy were observed in the patients. One patient died 5 months after the first infusion at a provincial hospital due to the rupture of esophageal varices, while 18 patients survived. Liver function was maintained or improved after infusion, as assessed by biochemical tests. The severity of the disease reduced markedly, with a significant reduction in PELD scores. Conclusion Autologous BMMNC administration for liver cirrhosis due to BA is safe and may maintain or improve liver function. Trial registration ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT03468699. Name of the registry: Vinmec Research Institute of Stem Cell and Gene Technology. https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT03468699?cond=biliary+atresia & cntry=VN & draw=2 & rank=2 . Registered on March 16, 2018. The trial results will also be published according to the CONSORT statement at conferences and reported in peer-reviewed journals.

Abstract: The Nam O - Nam Dong fault is rated as one of the most seismic source zones in Central Vietnam. Field investigation in the mountainous areas in the Cam Le and Hoa Vang districts (Da Nang city), which is a part of the Nam O - Nam Dong fault zone, the authors have discovered fault gouge zone of 5-40 cm width within the Dai Loc granitic rock. Two fault gouge samples were collected for Electron spin resonance (ESR) dating. The results from the ESR dating on the quartz grains from the fault gouge samples showed the youngest age from the smallest fraction, probably indicating that ESR signals in the fractions were completely zeroed at the time of faulting due to frictional heat. The preliminary results from the ESR dating on the quartz grains from the fault gouge indicate that the last major faulting in this site was later the ages of 15.05±3.55 ka to 18.21±4.06 ka ago. Multiple actives during the late Pleistocene - Holocene of this fault had uplifted the fault gouge from a depth-seated to the present-day locality. These data suggest that this fault zone can be classified as a potentially active fault zone and presents some seismic hazards.

Abstract: In this study, a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Vietnam receiving high-strength wastewater with COD of about 30,000 mg/L and various heavy metals from industries was treated by different RO membrane modules in order to meet the stringent national discharge standard and recover wastewater for reuse. The Fenton and coagulation pre-treatments were employed based on optimal conditions, which were experimentally pre-determined. For the RO membrane system, the two-stage treatment employed a plate frame RO (PFRO) followed by spiral wound RO (SPRO) to obtain high-quality permeate, while the high-pressure PFRO (HP PFRO) module was employed for the recovery of concentrated streams from the PFRO unit. As a result, a significant COD removal efficiency of 99.62% was achieved in the SPRO module. The heavy metal concentrations (i.e., Cu, Fe, Zn, Mn, Cr) measured in the output mostly met the standards for discharge levels. A significant decrease in electrical conductivity (EC) to below 250 µS/cm was achieved. In addition, high rates of water recovery were achieved from the RO modules (i.e., PFRO 63%, HP PFRO 9–12%, SPRO 〉 80–90%). The high-quality treated wastewater was thus suitable for reuse purposes. This study highlights the feasibility of RO membranes for practical treatment of high-strength wastewater and provides valuable data for the WWTP operator.
