Abstract:
This study dealt with some aspects of a research project on ego function patterns in schizophrenia, in which materials from clinical interviews, psychological tests, and psychological laboratory procedures were separately rated for adaptive adequacy of various functions of the ego. 10 ego functions have been described, and sample definitions offered. Examples of how the ego functions are rated from interview, test, and laboratory procedures also have been provided. Preliminary results are consistent with the main hypothesis.
