Abstract:
The potato is the world’s largest edible crop after wheat, rice and maize and it has got widely uses as fresh or processed foods. In this research, it was aimed to determine the tuber yield and quality properties of some domestic and foreign potato varieties in Samsun ecological conditions. The experiment was carried out by the Random Blocks Experimental Desing, at 2019. As materials, domestic potato varieties; Yediveren, Yaldız, Nahita, Leventbey, Muratbey, Nam, Kutup, Volkan, Yankı, Yaprak, Maden, Sultan Nur, Soylu, Maraton, Onaran 2015, Doruk, Bahar, Kaya, Ayaz, and foreign potato varieties; Marabel, Orchestra, Alegria, Borwina, Agria were used. In the study, among potato varieties were changed the mean number of tubers between 11.1 to 20.40 plant-1, tuber weight 81.86 to 48.05 g tuber-1, tuber yield 727 to 1115 g plant-1, marketable tuber ratio 53 to 70 %, tuber yield per hectare between 20.72 to 55.57 t. Among the domestic varieties, while the highest tuber yields from Yaldız (46.09 t ha-1), Yediveren (46.07 t ha-1) and Yankı (55.57 t ha-1), the lowest tuber yields from Nahita (20.72 t ha-1), Muratbey (22.96 t ha-1) and Onaran 2015 (23.81 t ha-1) potato varieties were obtained. Tuber yields of foreign potato varieties have been varied from 30.10 to 41.41 t ha-1. As a result, Samsun moderate climate conditions, Yediveren, Yaldız, Yankı, Maden, Volkan, Bahar, Kaya and Ayaz domestic potato varieties have become prominent recommended varieties in terms of tuber weight, tuber yield per plant, tuber yield per hectare, marketable tuber ratio and dry matter ratio.
