Abstract: Endogenous regressors can lead to biased estimates for causal effects using methods assuming regressor–error independence. To correct for endogeneity bias, the authors propose a new method that accounts for the regressor–error dependence using flexible semiparametric odds ratio conditional models; the approach requires neither parametric distributional assumptions nor tuning parameters for modeling endogenous regressors' distributions conditional on the error term and exogenous regressors. Inference is achieved via optimizing the profile likelihood concentrating on the parameters of interest. The proposed approach requires no use of instrumental variables (IVs), observed or latent, that must satisfy the stringent condition of exclusion restriction. Nonnormally distributed endogenous regressors are required for model identification with a normal error distribution. The approach's exibility in capturing regressor-error dependence increases the capability of Ivfree endogeneity correction and provides opportunities to improve the accuracy of causal effect estimation. Unlike existing IV-free methods, the proposed approach can handle discrete endogenous regressors with few levels, such as binary regressors or count regressors with small means, and is thus applicable to a plethora of applications involving such regressors. The authors demonstrate the versatility of the approach for binary, count, and continuous endogenous regressors using comprehensive simulation studies and an empirical data.

Abstract: In the current era of new economy, the competition between enterprises is becoming increasingly fierce. In many performance evaluation tools, EVA’s balance sheet scorecard has gradually become a more convenient management tool for organizations to implement strategies. The introduction of a balanced scorecard (if used properly) in the company’s performance evaluation will greatly improve the management efficiency of the organization and play a better role in promoting the enterprise to achieve the best resource allocation. This article aims to analyze the status quo of the EVA balanced scorecard in the performance appraisal system and its implementation in the enterprise through an overview of the relevant concepts and basic theories such as the balanced scorecard, combined with the theory of enterprise performance evaluation, such as the balanced scorecard. And strategic performance evaluation theory and other related theories established a series of effective management methods that match the EVA balanced scorecard. Use performance management system model calculation and performance evaluation system design to study the role of EVA-based balanced scorecard in building the performance evaluation system. Exploring the EVA balanced scorecard through experimental research can not only really improve the shortcomings and problems of the single performance appraisal system used by enterprises but also make it more in line with the company’s strategic development requirements and promote the realization of the strategy. The goal of the company: the experimental results of this paper show that 80% of the company’s operating conditions in the EVA-based balanced points performance evaluation have increased year by year and also confirmed that the EVA performance management system is a future-oriented performance management system.

Abstract: The main purpose of developing intelligent lower limb prostheses is to improve the quality of life of the disabled and promote the development of medical care. At the same time, the research of robotic intelligent lower limb prosthesis is a research direction that has been widely concerned in the field of robotics and biomedical engineering technology in recent years. This paper aims to research and discuss the 5G virtual reality system based on the gait evaluation of prosthetic wearers and its application in the debugging of intelligent prostheses. First, this paper analyzes the combination of the concept of lower extremity rehabilitation and virtual reality. Virtual reality technology is a means of exercise rehabilitation for patients with lower extremity hemiplegia, which plays an auxiliary role in the rehabilitation process. Then, the recognition and pre-method of human lower limb motion state are described. In the field of intelligent prosthetic state recognition, in addition to neural network recognition methods, there are hidden Markov (HMM) recognition methods, auxiliary vector machines (SVM), and so on. Finally, the lower limb state phase detection experiment and the prosthetic control experiment based on state phase detection are studied. The results of this experimental study showed that, for the same experimenter, changes in pace and gait did not affect the percentage of standing and swing phases. That is, the standing phase accounts for about 60% of the entire gait cycle, while the swing phase accounts for 40% of the entire gait cycle. This rule has been verified in other experiments.

Abstract: Anomaly identification is important to ensure the safe and stable operation of oil pipelines and prevent leaks. Leak identification is performed to divide abnormal samples from normal oil transfer samples in monitoring data, and it is a dichotomous problem. However, the traditional machine learning binary classification method is no longer suitable for identifying leak anomalies in complex production environments. The main problem is that leaks in production environments are very rare, and traditional methods cannot directly identify the leaking pattern with their generalizability. The recognized normal pattern lacks the ability to adapt to dynamic environmental changes and an artificial adjustment of the pump frequency, instrument calibration, and other monitoring data mutations. These are known as false anomalies, and they are difficult to distinguish from true anomalies. This results in a lower recall rate for leak anomaly identification and a higher rate of false positives. To solve this problem, this study proposes a leak anomaly recognition method based on the distinction between true and false anomalies. A one-class SVM is used to learn the normal working mode of oil pipelines, and the model is used to screen out suspected pipeline anomalies, namely, true and false anomalies. It increases the morphological difference between true and false anomaly curves by superimposing multisource data and uses similarity clustering to discover anomaly patterns that indicate leak events. The results show that the leakage anomaly recall rate is 100%, and the false anomaly exclusion rate is 83.49%. This method achieves real-time and efficient monitoring of pipeline leaking events in complex production environments, and it is practical for the application of machine learning methods in production environments.

Abstract: In multiple regression problems when covariates can be naturally grouped, it is important to carry out feature selection at the group and within-group individual variable levels simultaneously. The existing methods, including the lasso and group lasso, are designed for either variable selection or group selection, but not for both. We propose a group bridge approach that is capable of simultaneous selection at both the group and within-group individual variable levels. The proposed approach is a penalized regularization method that uses a specially designed group bridge penalty. It has the oracle group selection property, in that it can correctly select important groups with probability converging to one. In contrast, the group lasso and group least angle regression methods in general do not possess such an oracle property in group selection. Simulation studies indicate that the group bridge has superior performance in group and individual variable selection relative to several existing methods.

Abstract: With the development of the Internet of Things and big data technologies and the rise of smart cities, more and more Internet of Things and big data technologies are applied in the economic field, and the construction of the Shanghai Pilot Free-Trade Zone will be important for my country’s follow-up construction of free-trade zones and the whole country. Its economic development strategy has a significant impact, and it has also become a hot spot for domestic and foreign research. Among them, the use of big data and the Internet of Things application of the free-trade zone tax policy system for research cannot be ignored. This article puts forward the literature in the process of writing research method, quantitative research method, and case research method. We used the literature research method to study the theory of big data and tax informatization, used the quantitative research method to conduct data statistics on the tax system of the free-trade zone to understand the information construction of the tax authority, and used the case study method to realize the “data quality monitoring platform.” Taxation informatization management in turn brings enlightenment and suggestions for big data to promote the taxation informatization construction of the free-trade zone. A total of 2,854 samples of tax data were extracted from the system of the State Taxation Bureau of a certain district using SQL statements, when the tax burden rate threshold value selected by the nodes of the tax burden discrimination decision tree for all industries is 2.23%, through experiments, various tax collection, and management. The work has achieved ideal results, providing a more scientific and persuasive argument for the proposal of countermeasure research.

Abstract: In this paper, we study two competing hotels selling alternative and substitutable rooms at fixed capacity through the same online travel agent (OTA). The hotels can adopt either the merchant mode or the agent mode to cooperate with the OTA. To investigate all possible situations, three scenarios are compared: (a) both hotels use the agent mode, (b) both hotels adopt the merchant mode, and (c) one hotel implements the agent mode and the other the merchant mode. We show that a unique Nash equilibrium can be achieved when market size and price competition satisfy certain conditions. We find that the OTA always prefers to use a single mode to cooperate with both hotels in any given scenario. By comparing the optimal options for the three players, we find that they will all choose the agent mode when the commission rate drops to a particular level.

Abstract: Databases play a central role in evidence-based innovations in business, economics, social, and health sciences. In modern business and society, there are rapidly growing demands for constructing analytically valid databases that also are secure and protect sensitive information to meet customer and public expectations, to minimize financial losses, and to comply with privacy regulations and laws. We propose new data perturbation and shuffling (DPS) procedures, named MORE, for this purpose. As compared with existing DPS methods, MORE can substantially increase the utility of secure databases without increasing disclosure risk. MORE is capable of preserving important nonmonotonic relationships among attributes, such as the inverted-U relationship between competition and innovation. Maintaining such relationships is often the key to determining optimal levels of policy and managerial interventions. MORE does not require data to be of particular types or have particular distributional shapes. Instead, it provides unified, flexible, and robust algorithms to mask general types of confidential variables with arbitrary distributions, thereby making it suitable for general-purpose data masking. Since MORE nests the commonly used generalized linear models as special cases, a much wider range of statistical analyses can be conducted by using the secure databases with results similar to those achieved by using the original databases. Unlike existing DPS approaches that typically require a joint model for all variables, MORE requires no modeling of nonconfidential variables and thus further increases the robustness of secure databases. Evaluation of MORE through Monte Carlo simulation studies and empirical applications demonstrates that it performs better than existing data-masking methods. Data, as supplemental material, are available at http://dx.doi.org/10.1287/mnsc.2014.2026 . This paper was accepted by Sandra Slaughter, information systems.
