This study, based on 1999 and 2011 surveys with emerging adult undergraduate students, examined their motivations for having children between two cohorts in Korea. A total of 300 in 1999 and 204 in 2011 participants were included and a partial structural equation modeling was used to investigate the effect of cohort. The results showed that cohort was significantly related to the motivations for parenthood, participants in 2011 had stronger motivations for parenthood than participants in 1999.
