Abstract: Background: As the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic continues, medical workers may have allostatic load. Objective: During the reopening of society, medical and nonmedical workers were compared in terms of allostatic load. Methods: An online study was performed; 3,590 Chinese subjects were analyzed. Socio-demographic variables, allostatic load, stress, abnormal illness behavior, global well-being, mental status, and social support were assessed. Results: There was no difference in allostatic load in medical workers compared to nonmedical workers (15.8 vs. 17.8%; p = 0.22). Multivariate conditional logistic regression revealed that anxiety (OR = 1.24; 95% CI 1.18–1.31; p 〈 0.01), depression (OR = 1.23; 95% CI 1.17–1.29; p 〈 0.01), somatization (OR = 1.20; 95% CI 1.14–1.25; p 〈 0.01), hostility (OR = 1.24; 95% CI 1.18–1.30; p 〈 0.01), and abnormal illness behavior (OR = 1.49; 95% CI 1.34–1.66; p 〈 0.01) were positively associated with allostatic load, while objective support (OR = 0.84; 95% CI 0.78–0.89; p 〈 0.01), subjective support (OR = 0.84; 95% CI 0.80–0.88; p 〈 0.01), utilization of support (OR = 0.80; 95% CI 0.72–0.88; p 〈 0.01), social support (OR = 0.90; 95% CI 0.87–0.93; p 〈 0.01), and global well-being (OR = 0.30; 95% CI 0.22–0.41; p 〈 0.01) were negatively associated. Conclusions: In the post-COVID-19 epidemic time, medical and nonmedical workers had similar allostatic load. Psychological distress and abnormal illness behavior were risk factors for it, while social support could relieve it.

Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) has become an important driving force leading the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation worldwide. AI empowers green radical innovation (GRI), a vital strategic orientation for high‐tech enterprises. To explore the relationship between research and development (R & D) investment and GRI and identify the contingency factors that affect the relationship, this paper proposes a framework and conducts a survey to test it. The findings indicate that R & D investment and GRI have an inverted U‐shaped relationship, that organizational learning meditates the relationship and that management process innovation and organization structure innovation moderate the relationship positively and negatively, respectively. The findings clarify the intermediate mechanism of the transformation from R & D investment to GRI. They will help high‐tech enterprises improve their innovation ability and achieve technological leapfrogging and sustainable development in the context of AI and the green economy.

Abstract: The present study conducted a meta-analysis to examine the relation between grit and subjective well-being (SWB). The association between grit (i.e., overall grit, perseverance of effort, and consistency of interest) and SWB (i.e., positive affect, negative affect, happiness, depression, life satisfaction, job satisfaction, and school satisfaction) were synthesized across 83 studies and 66,518 participants. The results based on a random-effects model showed a substantial correlation between overall grit and SWB (ρ = .46, 95% confidence interval [CI] = [.43, .48] ), followed by perseverance of effort (ρ = .38, 95% CI = [.33, .43]) and consistency of interest (ρ = .23, 95% CI = [.17, .28] ). The moderator analysis indicated that the correlations between overall grit/consistency of effort and SWB become weaker as age increased, and these links were stronger in affective well-being than in cognitive well-being. Moreover, grit explained unique variance in SWB even after controlling for conscientiousness. Implications and directions for further research are discussed.

Abstract: The aim of the present study is to investigate the efficacy of internet-based cognitive behavior therapy (ICBT) for individuals with social anxiety (SA) and different levels of Taijin Kyofusho (TKS) in China. The ICBT program was translated into Chinese with some specific contents adapted for Chinese culture. Participants ( N = 80) with SA were assigned either to a treatment ( n = 55) or control group ( n = 25). Both groups were further divided into subgroups, based on their Taijin Kyofusho Scale (TKSS) scores. Participants in the ICBT treatment group reported significant posttreatment reductions in Social Interaction Anxiety Scale and Social Phobia Scale scores, relative to participants in the control group. In addition, participants in the treatment group with higher pretreatment TKS levels showed significantly greater reductions in TKSS scores. Results suggest that ICBT is a promising approach for the treatment of individuals with SA both with and without features of TKS. Clinical and cross-cultural implications, mechanisms of change, limitations, and future directions are discussed.
