Abstract:
D.C. magnetisation curves of the textured Y 0.9 Ca 0.1 Ba 2 Cu 4 O 8 (Y-124) and YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7 (Y-123) were measured at various temperatures and the results were compared each other. For B ⊥ c -axis, no significant difference was observed in magnetization curves between these two oxides. For B // c -axis, however, Y-124 shows much larger field dependence of Δ M than Y-123 at elevated temperatures. This difference in parallel fields may be related to the twin boundary pinning and/or the two dimensionality of the oxides.
