Kurzfassung: In this paper, the phase response of fiber Fabry–Pérot cavity-based fiber optic microphones (FFPC-FOMs) is discussed through an analysis of the results of simulation and experiments. The phase difference of FFPC-FOMs mainly originates from two aspects: different phase lags of the mechanical-acoustic systems and different quadrature working points (Q*) on interference curves. The former is analyzed by an impedance-type analogous circuit, and the simulation results reveal that the change in cavity length and resonance frequency in a large range have an insignificant influence on the phase difference. The latter shows a unique effect on the phase difference and causes the phase of FFPC-FOMs to be either in or out of phase. The phase differences of four samples of FFPC-FOMs with different cavity lengths and resonance frequencies are measured in the frequency range 50 Hz–4 kHz. Experimental results of the phase difference are well consistent with simulation results. All samples of FFPC-FOMs can be divided into two groups: one is near 0° and the other is near 180°. In addition, the FFPC-FOMs in each group have good phase consistency for the array applications.

Kurzfassung: Acoustic metasurfaces show non-traditional abilities in wave manipulation and provide alternate mechanisms for information communication and invisibility technology. However, most of the mechanisms remain narrow band (relative bandwidth ∼5%), and a wideband trait is essential for engineering applications. For example, controllable effective material properties—reflection or transmission phase—has barely been realized in wideband because the intrinsic dispersion relation is not always editable. In this paper, wideband reflection phase editing is realized, and wideband invisibility of a phase preserved Huygens's metasurface on a flat background is achieved with anomalous reflection. This metasurface is built with proposed unsymmetrical twin Helmholtz resonators which reach a predefined dispersion relation target value. The total instantaneous acoustic fields show nearly identical carpeting effects in a consecutive band with relative bandwidth 52.1% (from 5400 to 9200 Hz) in simulation and experiment.

Kurzfassung: The importance of rural soundscape has been recently recognized for the recreational and amenity value, where man-made noise is at a low level and the dominance of natural sounds promotes sound preference, but there is a lack of studies on the sound preference of residents in the villages of China, which are undergoing a fast development in urbanization. In this study, a questionnaire survey was undertaken at 36 villages of northeast regions, representing all major soundscape types. The results show that among the individual factors, age, education level, and landscape environment are more significant than the factor of gender, in terms of influence on sound preference. With increasing age, the sound preference of traffic and mechanical sound has a tendency of increase and then decrease, whereas the tendency for human voice, natural, and melody sound is opposite. With a higher education level, the sound preference of traffic, mechanical sound, and human voice decreases, and on the contrary, sound preference for natural and melody sound increases. However, the evaluation of natural and melody sound is lower in better landscape environment, which is perhaps due to the residents’ higher requirements in soundscapes corresponding to the landscapes.
