    Abstract: In this paper, a new composite nano-particle for both contrast-enhanced ultrasound imaging and cell therapy is introduced. The carbon nanotubes are used for carriers due to their unique hollow structure, nano-diameter and good biocompatibility. The targeted protein, the hematoporphyrin and the gold nanoparticles are assembled on the surface of the carbon nanotubes. The targeted protein is used as tumor localization. As a kind of sonosensitizer, the hematoporphyrin can produce the singlet oxygen while being activated by ultrasound and are studied for its effects of antitumor and apoptosis induction recently. It is worthwhile to note that the singlet oxygen has a very short lifetime and will transfer to triplet oxygen with light emission band at 1268 nm, or 634 nm and 703 nm. Triplet oxygen is the ground state of the oxygen molecule and much of them will form nano oxygen bubbles under body temperature which can be used as contrast-enhanced ultrasound imaging agent. At the same time, the gold nanoparticles which have good biocompatibility can absorb the light emission and produce the acoustic signals of some bandwidth.     Abstract: It is possible to recover a signal below the Nyquist sampling limit using a compressive sensing technique in ultrasound imaging. However, the reconstruction enabled by common sparse transform approaches does not achieve satisfactory results. Considering the ultrasound echo signal's features of attenuation, repetition, and superposition, a sparse dictionary with the emission pulse signal is proposed. Sparse coefficients in the proposed dictionary have high sparsity. Images reconstructed with this dictionary were compared with those obtained with the three other common transforms, namely, discrete Fourier transform, discrete cosine transform, and discrete wavelet transform. The performance of the proposed dictionary was analyzed via a simulation and experimental data. The mean absolute error (MAE) was used to quantify the quality of the reconstructions. Experimental results indicate that the MAE associated with the proposed dictionary was always the smallest, the reconstruction time required was the shortest, and the lateral resolution and contrast of the reconstructed images were also the closest to the original images. The proposed sparse dictionary performed better than the other three sparse transforms. With the same sampling rate, the proposed dictionary achieved excellent reconstruction quality.

    Abstract: In this paper, one method which combined the Improved Fourier series method and Differential Quadrature method (DQM) is firstly introduced to analyze the vibration of a beam with variable cross section. For DQM, the weighting coefficients is traditionally obtained by Lagrange interpolation, which would lead the equation system to be ill-conditioned when points are equidistantly chosen. In this paper, Fourier series with several auxiliary functions is applied to obtain the weighting coefficients which would converge at a fast speed and the more points included, the more accurate would be the results. Application of Fourier series to the DQM would avoid the appearance of the ill-conditioned equation system when the points are chosen equidistantly.

    Abstract: Thermoacoustic electricity generator could convert heat to electric power. It is composed of thermoacoustic engine and linear alternator. In TIPC, a traveling wave thermoacoustic electricity generator had been built and tested. Long resonator was replaced by linear generator in the thermoacoustic electricity generator. There were mechanical impedance, acoustic impedance and electric impedance. Only adjustment parameter was electric load when the generator ran. Electric load could affect the acoustic impedance of linear alternator, which was close related with efficiency from acoustic power to electric power. In order to optimize the electric load in real time, a kind of on-line measure method was supposed and tested. Volume flow rate and pressure were measured by resistance strain gauge and piezo-electric pressure sensor respectively. Correlation arithmetic was used to evaluate the acoustic power. On-line analysis of acoustic power and electric power made it possible to measure efficiency. Some tests were done to verify this technology.     Abstract: The break-out sound from a cavity via an elastically mounted panel is predicted in this paper. The vibroacoustic system model is derived based on the so-called spectro-geometric method in which the solution over each sub-domain is invariably expressed as a modified Fourier series expansion. Unlike the traditional modal superposition methods, the continuity of the normal velocities is faithfully enforced on the interfaces between the flexible panel and the (interior and exterior) acoustic media. A fully coupled vibro-acoustic system is obtained by taking into account the strong coupling between the vibration of the elastic panel and the sound fields on the both sides. The typical time-consuming calculations of quadruple integrals encountered in determining the sound power radiation from a panel has been effectively avoided by reducing them, via discrete cosine transform, into a number of single integrals which are subsequently calculated analytically in a closed form. Several numerical examples are presented to validate the system model, understand the effects on the sound transmissions of panel mounting conditions, and demonstrate the dependence on the size of source room of the “measured” transmission loss.

    Abstract: This study aimed to characterize factors that influence early dialect development in a language environment with multiple dialects. Children were evaluated for these dialect effects compared with normal hearing referenced measures of speech and language development that are commonly implemented in hearing-impaired children. Dialect exposure and use were assessed longitudinally in Chinese children (2–6 years old) that were raised in a community where Putonghua (PTH) and Sichuanhua (SCH) Mandarin dialects were used. Lexical tones in these dialects are different. A total of 20 boys and 20 girls (2 years old at the beginning of the study) that attended the same nursery school were included in this study. SCH was used by the majority of subjects 〈 4 years old. The majority of subjects 〉 4 years old used either dialect, with a few users of both dialects at this age. PTH tone perception did not differ significantly as a function of dialect use. Tone recognition and discrimination were 〉 90% accurate by 6 years old, in contrast to previous results for children with minimal exposure and use of PTH. Children with approximately ⩾50% PTH exposure might be accurately assessed with norm-referenced speech materials spoken in PTH, regardless of their preferred dialect. However, the current norm-referenced assessments of children with minimal PTH exposure and nonusers of the dialect might be inaccurate.

    Abstract: In this paper, a double-loudspeakers model to modulate the acoustic field in the resonator is presented. The acoustic field is modulated by changing the driving conditions, including the amplitude and the phase difference of the driving voltages. A numerical simulation for the acoustic field in the resonator without regenerator is carried out. The calculation results indicate that any traveling-standing wave acoustic field can be obtained by changing the driving conditions. The acoustic field in the resonator with regenerator is also simulated. It is found that the acoustic field in the regenerator can be modulated in a wide range and several targeted acoustic field conditions can be obtained feasibly, which are useful for achieving the optimal thermoacoustic conversion. An experimental device has been constructed and tested. The acoustic field are measured and reconstructed under different driving conditions. The experiment results are in good agreement with the simulations. The device provides a platform for our further study on the thermoacoustic characteristic of regenerator in different acoustic field.     Abstract: Thermoacoustic device can realize conversion between the heat energy and acoustic energy. Regenerator is the core of a thermoacoustic engine or refrigerator, which consists of smooth or tortuous porous media, such as parallel plates or stainless stacked-screen. Due to regenerators, the practical acoustic field is neither a pure standing wave nor a pure travelling wave. In fact, the position, structural parameters of the regenerator and temperature gradient between heat exchangers will strongly influence the oscillating pressure and velocity distribution in the acoustic field, which will bring about different performance for a practical thermoacoustic engine or refrigerator. In this paper, based on linear thermoacoustic theory, a mathematical model of a 1/2 wave-length duct with a regenerator driven by speakers will be built and the influence of the regenerator on the acoustic field distribution will be simulated and analyzed. This research is helpful for comprehensively understanding coupling mechanism between the acoustic field and the regenerator.     Abstract: High-precision absolute determinations of gravitational acceleration g provide important data for many fields such as metrology, geophysics, and geological exploration. In absolute gravimetry, vibrational noise from seismic and other environmental disturbances is one of the limiting factors. Several types of ultra-low vertical vibration isolators have been developed in Tsinghua University. The first one is a passive isolator based on LaCoste spring linkage and can achieve a natural period up to 32 s. The second one is an active isolator employing a two-stage beam structure. The upper beam is suspended from the frame with a hex spring, and the lower beam is suspended from the upper one using a zero-length spring. A feedback circuit is equipped to keep the angle between the two beams at a fixed value. The isolator can achieve a natural period of 100 s. The last one is an active isolator based on a two-stage structure, in which geometric anti-springs are used to support the proof mass. The volume of the isolator is greatly decreased, and the allowable load is increased while maintaining a natural period more than 15 s.

    Abstract: Whistle classification plays an essential role in studying the habitat and social behaviours of cetaceans. We obtained six categories of sweep whistles of two Tursiops aduncus individual signals using the passive acoustic mornitoring technique over a period of eight months in the Xiamen area. First, we propose a depthwise separable convolutional neural network for whistle classification. The proposed model adopts the depthwise convolution combined with the followed point-by-point convolution instead of the conventional convolution. As a result, it brings a better classification performance in sample sets with relatively independent features between different channels. Meanwhile, it leads to less computational complexity and fewer model parameters. Second, in order to solve the problem of an imbalance in the number of samples under each whistle category, we propose a random series method with five audio augmentation algorithms. The generalization ability of the trained model was improved by using an opening probability for each algorithm and the random selection of each augmentation factor within specific ranges. Finally, we explore the effect of the proposed augmentation method on the performance of our proposed architecture and find that it enhances the accuracy up to 98.53% for the classification of Tursiops aduncus whistles.
