Notes: Abstract For a Köthe sequence space, the classes of Λ0-nuclear spaces and spaces with the Λ0-property are introduced and studied and the relation between them is investigated. Also, we show that, for Λ0≠c 0, these classes of spaces are in general different from the corresponding ones for Λ0=c 0, which have been extensively studied in the non-archimedean literature (see, for example, [1]–[6]).

Notes: Abstract The properties of the transition between two patterns with different symmetries are studied in an experiment on thermal convection in a fluid layer heated from below. The defect structure is also analyzed and it is found that the unstable phase is present in the defect cores. The experimental results are in agreement with a model of three coupled Ginzburg-Landau equations.

Notes: The purpose of this paper is to justify the well-known relaxation spectra observed in dilute polymer solutions from extended irreversible thermodynamics. This is performed by elevating the viscous stress tensor to the status of independent variable, in addition to the usual variables, like temperature and mass density. In particular, it is shown that our thermodynamic description encompasses the Rouse and Zimm models. Memory functions for the longitudinal and transverse correlation functions are derived and analyzed within the frame work of molecular hydrodynamics.
