Summary A review of the possibilities for primary and secondary prevention of arteriosclerosis is followed by a critical analysis of long-term therapy with anticoagulants and platelet aggregation inhibitors with regard to the prevention of occlusive vascular disease (with a review of the pertinent retrospective and prospective studies).
