Zusammenfassung Es wird über die erstmalige Beobachtung von „in vivo aktivierten Lymphocyten“ [IVAL] bei aktiver chronischer Hepatitis berichtet. Solche Lymphocyten mit einem erhöhten „Ruhestoffwechsel“ wurden bei 30% unserer Patienten mit dieser Erkrankung beobachtet. Eine Persistenz der Lymphocytenaktivität ist mit einer schlechten Prognose kombiniert. Die Deutung dieser Zellen als Träger der spezifischen Immunität, vergleichbar der Transplantat-Abstoßungs-Reaktion wird diskutiert.

Summary The first observation of “in vivo activated lymphocytes” [IVAL] in cases of active chronic hepatitis is reported. Lymphocytes with an elevated metabolism were observed in about 30% of patients with this disease. The persistence of such active lymphocytes was associated with a bad prognosis. The role of these cells as mediators of specific immunity comparable to the graft rejection is discussed.
