Description:
To investigate deep ocean heat uptake variability, we measured Mg/Ca ratios of Uvigerina spp. on samples from site GeoB9508-5 off NW Africa. Bottom water temperatures (BWT) were calculated using the equation cited by Roberts et al. (2016) (https://doi.org/10.1073/pnas.1511252113). To estimate the δ18O of seawater, the δ18O of Cibicidoides wuellerstorfi was corrected by a species-specific offset of +0.64 ‰ and the temperature effect was extracted based on our paleotemperature record. No further corrections were made on the δ13C. of Cibicidoides spp. The data was modelled using BACON, and contains raw and processed stable isotope data from epibenthic Cibicidoides spp., including confidence intervals (95%) from the last 50.000 years at the eastern North Atlantic. Standard deviation for BWT was 0.7 °C and 0.07/0.05 for δ18O and δ13C.
