Abstract: We have studied the increase of the radiative decay rate of heptamethine cyanine NIR laser dye within core-shell Ag/SiO 2 nanowires. The photoluminescence intensity and lifetime of the heptamethine cyanine dye are affected by the Ag nanowires. Both the photoluminescence intensity and the decay rate of the heptamethine cyanine dye are greatly enhanced by the Ag nanostructures and are caused by the interactions between the excited-state fluorophore and the local electric field near the metal particles.

Abstract: For absorption lines, the distortion of spectral lines by experimental spectrometers must be considered in measuring linewidth which has been investigated by many authors. While in the derivative spectrum, we managed to give the corrections of instrumental broadening and distortion to obtain accurate linewidths. We developed a universal fitting program which was explored together with the method of correction in the fundamental band spectra of LMR of NO. The uncorrected halfwidths were compared with the corrected values, which were obtained from the program. The results of comparison are very satisfactory and demonstrate their useful application to analyze experimental spectra.

Abstract: In this paper, we consider the (2+1)-dimensional Ito equation, which was introduced by Ito. By considering the Hirota’s bilinear method, and using the positive quadratic function, we obtain some lump solutions of the Ito equation. In order to ensure rational localization and analyticity of these lump solutions, some sufficient and necessary conditions are provided on the parameters that appeared in the solutions. Furthermore, the interaction solutions between lump solutions and the stripe solitons are discussed by combining positive quadratic function with exponential function. Finally, the dynamic properties of these solutions are shown via the way of graphical analysis by selecting appropriate values of the parameters.

Abstract: A photonic quantum well (PQW) structure based on the zero-averaged refractive index gap is constructed and the transmission properties are investigated. Quantized confined photonic states resulting from the photonic confinement effect are observed. We find that the resonant transmissions are not only weakly dependent on the incident angle but also insensitive to polarization of light. More importantly, the number of the confined photonic states can be controlled by simply adjusting the cell number of the well photonic crystal. It is shown that strong field localization is found when the well photonic crystal consists of positive-index material or single negative material. Particularly for the PQW structure containing single negative material, the field in the well region can be highly enhanced by modulating the size of the well photonic crystal. These peculiar features make this PQW structure superior to the conventional PQW structure in potential applications such as omnidirectional filtering and optical bistable switching.

Abstract: Light propagation through one-dimensional photonic quantum well (PQW) structures consisting of single-negative (SNG) materials is investigated theoretically. It is found that, based on the zero-effective-phase gap mechanism, the resonant tunneling modes can be manipulated to realized multiple channeled filters which are not only weakly dependent on the incident angle and polarization, but also insensitive to the deviation of the photonic barrier thickness. These properties are advanced to conventional PQW structures and the physical reason for the remarkable features of the proposed PQW structure is analyzed.

Abstract: In this paper, we employed first-principle calculations to investigate the elastic properties, electronic properties and hardness of diamond and hexagonal W 2 B 5 compounds under high pressure. The elastic properties were carried out to discuss the structural stability and the bond components of diamond and hexagonal W 2 B 5 . The electronic properties were presented to analysis the change of the bond components for W 2 B 5 . In addition, the hardness of these two crystals under high pressure was calculated by a semi-empirical method considering the role of metallic components and the effect of pressure on the hardness of diamond and hexagonal W 2 B 5 was discussed.

Abstract: Modern space vehicles face the challenges to obtain more and more accurate attitudes in order to complete the demanding tasks. Onboard star sensors which identify the observed stars in the field of view according to the loaded guide star catalog and output accurate attitude have attracted most interests. Guide stars are usually required to distribute uniformly on the celestial sphere to improve the performance of the star pattern identification. An optimal selection algorithm is proposed to achieve an even distribution of guide stars in this paper. Constellation features are discussed. The mean shift algorithm is analyzed. The idea that distributes stars in the local field of view to constellations is proposed by using the star pair angular separations according to the star positions in the inertial coordinate system. The optimal selection algorithm of guide stars based on star clustering is developed. Its detailed implement procedures are introduced completely. The guide star optimal selection experiment in visible band by using SAO star catalog as the original star data is implemented. It proves that the proposed algorithm has the virtue of simple calculation and easy realization. The obtained guide star distribution is superior to the regression selection algorithm and the magnitude weighted method.

Abstract: We present a simple model of ionomers, namely a single polymer chain in a series of fixed attractors. In analogy to ionized bead’s claws of surrounding chains, the set of attractors can affectively slow down the diffusion motion of the target chain. The monomer mean-square displacement of ionomers is studied by using Monte Carlo algorithm, and compared with the prediction of the sticky Rouse model. The diffusion motion properties of ionomers are explored in three aspects, including the chain length of the polymer, the depth of the potential well and the number of ionic groups. The results show that a plateau appears in the monomer diffusion function due to the attraction of the attractors to the claws. However, comparative theoretical predictions and simulation results show that there exists some discrepancy between them. Therefore, the relaxation time distribution of polymer chain motion is explored. The simulation results confirm that the association lifetime is decreasing exponentially, and the expected values of the association lifetime satisfy the Boltzmann distribution as shown by the results. These results perfectly explain the deviation between the simulation data and the theoretical results.

Abstract: The superconducting phase Tl 2 Ba 2 Ca 2 Cu 3 O x (Tl2223) has been identified in high-T c superconducting ceramics with nominal composition of Tl 2 Ba 2 Ca 2 Cu 3 . The configurations of grains and grain boundaries have also been observed directly by high resolution electron microscopy [HREM]. The small angle grain boundaries are mixed with both translation and orientation characteristics. The boundary regions are nearly parallel to (100) to (010) in crystal state, While in amorphous state, they are nearly parallel to (001). There also exists large angle grain boundaries in TlBaCaCuO superconductor.

Abstract: Using the experimental methods about weak current and magnetic field, we make the experimental observation for oxide superconductor. The result obtained shows that there is Josephson weak link between superconducting grain. We consider that the weak link is the main reason of low J c for oxide superconductor.
