Abstract: The impact of climate change (CC) on food security has been widely discussed in the literature. However, the role of food export restrictions induced by CC is poorly understood. In this study, we take rice as an example and apply a global economic model to investigate the food security implications of CC and food export restrictions based on both self-sufficiency rate (SSR) and household rice consumption indicators. We find that for capturing the impacts of CC and export restrictions on food security, the household rice consumption indicator is much more suitable than the SSR indicator. The impacts of the export restrictions on food security vastly exceed CC effects in over half of the regions. Regarding household rice consumption indicators, the sign of the impact of rice export restriction for each country depends on its position in the global rice market and whether it enforces the restriction policy. The magnitude of impacts depends on the changes in consumer prices of rice and the affluence level of each region. Facing CC, household rice consumption in regions without export restrictions will be negatively affected. Interestingly, not all the regions enforcing export restrictions would benefit from the restrictive policy. Only the net rice exporters benefit slightly, while net importers are adversely affected. The export restriction policy would make the harmful effects of CC transmit from South Asia to Africa and the Middle East. For adaptation/mitigation policies, more attention should be paid to the leading exporters imposing export restrictions where the adverse effects are originated and the more impoverished regions with close trade connections with such regions.

Abstract: CaO doped 0.5Na[Formula: see text]Bi[Formula: see text] TiO 3 (NBT)-0.5SrTiO 3 (ST) were prepared by a traditional solid-reaction method under various sintering temperatures. X-ray diffraction (XRD), electron scanning microscopy (SEM), and electrical measurements were employed to check the phases, microstructures, and energy storage properties. The doping of CaO can deeply affect the relaxation nature of NBT-ST ceramics. So the energy storage performance could be modified. Specially, sample with 1 at.% CaO exhibits a high energy storage density of 1.51[Formula: see text]J/cm 3 . Any further details can be found within this study.

Abstract: In this paper, the Selected Objects Extraction (SOE) CNN is generalized to Directional Extraction (DE) CNN which enhances the capabilities of the SOE CNN. Using analytical approaches, a theorem to design robust templates for DE CNN is established. The theorem provides parameter inequalities to determine parameter intervals in which the templates can implement the corresponding functions. Based on the theorem, an optimal model is set up to design optimally robust templates for DE CNN. Two examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the theorem.

Abstract: In this paper, a real estate game model with nonlinear demand function is proposed. And an analysis of the game's local stability is carried out. It is shown that the stability of Nash equilibrium point is lost through period-doubling bifurcation as some parameters are varied. With numerical simulations method, the results of bifurcation diagrams, maximal Lyapunov exponents and strange attractors are presented. It is found that the chaotic behavior of the model has been stabilized on the Nash equilibrium point by using of nonlinear feedback control method.

Abstract: The cellular neural/nonlinear network (CNN) is a powerful tool for image and video signal processing, as well as robotic and biological visions. Practically, an engineer always hopes to design a CNN that has both universality and robustness. Based on research on the designs for the global connectivity detection (GCD) CNN [Chua, 1997] used in binary pattern, this paper establishes a theorem on robust designs for gray-scale global connectivity detection (GGCD) CNN templates. The theorem provides template parameter inequalities for determining parameter intervals for implementing the GCD functions. As a first example, two gray-scale labyrinth patterns with Gaussian noise are constructed. Using the GGCD, CNN designed by the theorem detects the connectivity of the two labyrinth patterns with gray-scales. In the other three examples, using GGCD CNNs simulate the spreads of an infectious diseases at nonuniform speeds.
