Abstract: We apply different polarization imaging techniques for cancerous liver tissues, and compare the relative contrasts for difference polarization imaging (DPI), degree of polarization imaging (DOPI) and rotating linear polarization imaging (RLPI). Experimental results show that a number of polarization imaging parameters are capable of differentiating cancerous cells in isotropic liver tissues. To analyze the contrast mechanism of the cancer-sensitive polarization imaging parameters, we propose a scattering model containing two types of spherical scatterers and carry on Monte Carlo simulations based on this bi-component model. Both the experimental and Monte Carlo simulated results show that the RLPI technique can provide a good imaging contrast of cancerous tissues. The bi-component scattering model provides a useful tool to analyze the contrast mechanism of polarization imaging of cancerous tissues.

Abstract: Capture effect is a very common phenomenon in wireless channel. By using capture effect, the collision tags can be identified in a certain probability, so the identification efficiency and speed of the system can be improved. In this paper, we extend the Maximum a Posterior probability method to capture effect environment and propose a novel tag anti-collision algorithm MAPCE for RFID tags identification. The proposed algorithm can not only estimate the number of tags, but also estimate the capture effect probability. Based on the estimation, we can derive the optimal frame length in the tag identification systems. The experimental results show that when the tags’ number is larger than 600 and less than 1000, the proposed algorithm has lower computational complexity and lower estimation error rate.

Abstract: This paper deals with modeling and bifurcation analysis of two-stage Boost inverters. Since the effect of the nonlinear interactions between source-stage converter and load-stage inverter causes the “hidden” second-harmonic current at the input of the downstream H-bridge inverter, an observer-pattern modeling method is proposed by removing time variance originating from both fundamental frequency and hidden second harmonics in the derived averaged equations. Based on the proposed observer-pattern model, the underlying mechanism of slow-scale instability behavior is uncovered with the help of eigenvalue analysis method. Then eigenvalue sensitivity analysis is used to select some key system parameters of two-stage Boost inverter, and some behavior boundaries are given to provide some design-oriented information for optimizing the circuit. Finally, these theoretical results are verified by numerical simulations and circuit experiment.

Abstract: We propose and conduct both the rotating linear polarization imaging (RLPI) and Mueller matrix transformation (MMT) measurements of different biological tissue samples, and testify the capability of the Mueller matrix polarimetry for the anisotropic scattering media. The independent parameters extracted from the RLPI and MMT techniques are compared and analyzed. The tissue experimental results show that the parameters are closely related to the structural characteristics of the turbid scattering media, including the sizes of the scatterers, the angular distribution and order of alignment of the fibers. The results and conclusions in this paper may provide a potential method for the detection of precancerous and early stage cancerous tissues. Also, such studies represent the Mueller matrix transformation procedure which results in a set of parameters linking up the Mueller matrix elements to the structural and optical properties of the media.

Abstract: Carbonized melamine foam (CM) was used as an ideal framework for the in-situ growth of MoS 2 by hydrothermal method. And its hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and the catalytic mechanism were explored. By regulating the concentration of the precursor, the stacking pattern of MoS 2 lamella on CM was optimized. And the results show that the sample with a precursor concentration of [Formula: see text][Formula: see text] M possesses the smallest overpotential (218[Formula: see text]mV @ 10[Formula: see text] mA[Formula: see text]cm[Formula: see text] ) and its vertical arrayed nanosheets encased on the surface of carbon matrix provide more sites for the absorption of H[Formula: see text] in the electrolyte which accounts for the promotion of hydrogen generation.

Abstract: Sequence Assembly is one of the important topics in bioinformatics research. Sequence assembly algorithm has always met the problems of poor assembling precision and low efficiency. In view of these two problems, this paper designs and implements a precise assembling algorithm under the strategy of finding the source of reads based on the MapReduce (SA-BR-MR) and Eulerian path algorithm. Computational results show that SA-BR-MR is more accurate than other algorithms. At the same time, SA-BR-MR calculates 54 sequences which are randomly selected from animals, plants and microorganisms with base lengths from hundreds to tens of thousands from NCBI. All matching rates of the 54 sequences are 100%. For each species, the algorithm summarizes the range of [Formula: see text] which makes the matching rates to be 100%. In order to verify the range of [Formula: see text] value of hepatitis C virus (HCV) and related variants, the randomly selected eight HCV variants are calculated. The results verify the correctness of [Formula: see text] range of hepatitis C and related variants from NCBI. The experiment results provide the basis for sequencing of other variants of the HCV. In addition, Spark platform is a new computing platform based on memory computation, which is featured by high efficiency and suitable for iterative calculation. Therefore, this paper designs and implements sequence assembling algorithm based on the Spark platform under the strategy of finding the source of reads (SA-BR-Spark). In comparison with SA-BR-MR, SA-BR-Spark shows a superior computational speed.

Abstract: This paper deals with the transient characteristics of the cascade DC–DC Boost converter under a large disturbance by using nonlinear modal series method. Based on the power balance principle, a nonlinear averaged model is derived to describe the nonlinear dynamics of the cascade converter. And then, the modal series method is described in detail and the second order approximate solutions are derived by this method. Furthermore, the simulation results and the theoretical analysis demonstrate that there are plenty of modal interactions, particularly the stronger second order modal interactions, which can affect the transient behavior significantly in the disturbed transient process. The modified approximate solutions considering the dominant nonlinear interaction modes of some state variables are subsequently obtained. In addition, by selecting appropriate system parameters, we can improve the transient behavior of the system under disturbance so that the amplitude and duration of the oscillation can be effectively reduced to satisfy the requirements of the system tolerance during the transient process. Moreover, the dominant oscillation modes of each state variable are also studied, which will help us improve the understanding of the salient transient behaviors in DC–DC cascade converters with disturbance. Finally, PSpice circuit experiments are performed to verify the above theoretical and numerical results.

Abstract: The contrast mechanism of different polarization imaging techniques for melanoma in mouse skin is studied using both experiments and Monte Carlo simulations. Total intensity, linear polarization difference imaging (DPI), degree of polarization imaging (DOPI) and rotating linear polarization imaging (RLPI) are applied and the relative contrasts of these polarization imaging methods between the normal and cancerous tissues are compared. A two-layer absorption-scattering model is proposed to explain the contrast mechanism of the polarization imaging for melanoma. By taking into account of both scattering of symmetrical and asymmetrical scatterers and absorption of inter-scatterer medium, the two-layer model reproduces the relative contrasts for polarization images observed in experiments. The simulation results also show that, the parameters of polarization imaging change more dramatically with the variation of absorption in the bottom layer than the top layer.
