Abstract: We discuss recent B physics results from the DØ experiment at Fermilab. The results presented here use data sets with integrated luminosities ranging from ~ 200–440 pb -1 , collected at the Tevatron, between April 2002 and August 2004, at a center-of-mass energy of [Formula: see text] collisions of 1.96 TeV .

Abstract: Microwave cladding is one of the latest surface engineering techniques, which has been used to improve the surface properties of a material. This technique overcomes almost all limitations of the existing methods. In this study, Ni-based+10% Cr 3 C 2 composite clads have been developed in domestic microwave oven of 2.45-GHz frequency and 900-W power. The developed composite clads have been characterized using various standard mechanical and metallurgical techniques like SEM/EDS, XRD and Vickers microhardness tester. Cavitation erosion resistance of developed composite clads has also been examined at different parametric conditions. The microstructure analysis exhibits that the developed composite clads of 730-[Formula: see text]m thickness are free of cracks (solidification and interfacial) and less porous. The presence of various intermetallic and hard carbide phases like FeNi 3 , CrSi 2 , Cr 3 Ni 2 SiC, SiC and NiC is confirmed from the XRD analysis. The Vickers microhardness study reveals that the average microhardness of clad region is [Formula: see text] HV[Formula: see text] . The cavitation erosion study (at different parametric conditions using vibratory cavitation erosion testing) reveals that the developed composite clads perform much better under cavitation erosion environment than the SS-316 substrate. The stand-off distance is found to be the most dominating factor followed by amplitude and immersion depth.

Abstract: We consider a generalization of replicator dynamics as a non-cooperative evolutionary game-theoretic model of a community of N agents. All agents update their individual mixed strategy profiles to increase their total payoff from the rest of the community. The properties of attractors in this dynamics are studied. Evidence is presented that under certain conditions the typical attractors of the system are corners of state space where each agent has specialized to a pure strategy, and/or the community exhibits diversity, i.e., all strategies are represented in the final states. The model suggests that new pure strategies whose payoff matrix elements satisfy suitable inequalities with respect to the existing ones can destabilize existing attractors if N is sufficiently large, and be regarded as innovations that enhance the diversity of the community.

Abstract: Let [Formula: see text] be a group. A set [Formula: see text] in [Formula: see text] is said to be non-commuting if [Formula: see text] for any two distinct elements [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] in [Formula: see text]. If [Formula: see text] for any other non-commuting set [Formula: see text] in [Formula: see text] , then [Formula: see text] is said to be a maximal non-commuting set. In this paper, we obtain the cardinality of a maximal non-commuting set in [Formula: see text] -generated [Formula: see text]-groups of class two having finite commutator subgroup.

Abstract: In this study, Ni-Al 2 O 3 -based composite clads on SS-316 substrates using a microwave irradiation method have been developed. Microwave-processed clads were characterized using various nondestructive techniques to investigate microstructure, phase analysis, porosity assessment and measurement of microhardness. The findings of the microstructural analysis demonstrated the formation of solid, metallurgically bonded and defect-free clads with a thickness of approximately 970[Formula: see text][Formula: see text] m. X-ray diffraction (XRD) phase analysis study confirmed the existence of hard and intermetallic phases in the clad region. Composite clad region exhibited a low porosity value of [Formula: see text]1.3%. The average microhardness of the clad region was 3.63 times that of the substrate region. Further, cavitation erosion (CE) behavior of the developed clads was investigated using vibration CE test rig under various stand-off distances and immersion depths. CE result s showed that the composite clads exhibited 6.9 times better erosion resistance than SS-316 substrate. CE resistance increased with an increase in stand-off distance and the depth of immersion.

Abstract: Bone grinding is a craniotomy procedure which is used to remove a bone flap from the skull to expose and create an access for the dissection of tumors. In this study, a computer-controlled neurosurgical bone grinding has been used to explore the effect of various neurosurgical bone grinding parameters, such as cutting forces, torque, grinding force ratio, and temperature generated during bone grinding have been investigated. Bone samples after grinding have been assessed for morphological analysis. Based on the outcomes, a multi-attribute decision-making methodology based on grey relational analysis has been adopted. Regression models have been developed and then validated to ensure the adequacy of the developed models. Subsequently, a comparative analysis of experimental and predicted results have been presented. It is revealed that grinding forces and torque decreased with the escalation of rotational speed from 35,000 revolutions per minute (rpm) to 55,000[Formula: see text]rpm. The optimum combination of process parameters found as rotational speed of 55,000[Formula: see text] rpm, feed rate of 20[Formula: see text]mm/min, and depth of cut of 0.50[Formula: see text] mm.

Abstract: We construct, for the first time, various types of specific non-special finite p-groups having abelian automorphism group. More specifically, we construct groups G with abelian automorphism group such that γ 2 (G) 〈 Z(G) 〈 Φ(G), where γ 2 (G), Z(G) and Φ(G) denote the commutator subgroup, the center and the Frattini subgroup of G respectively. For a finite p-group G with elementary abelian automorphism group, we show that at least one of the following two conditions holds true: (i) Z(G) = Φ(G) is elementary abelian; (ii) γ 2 (G) = Φ(G) is elementary abelian, where p is an odd prime. We construct examples to show the existence of groups G with elementary abelian automorphism group for which exactly one of the above two conditions holds true.

Abstract: Anvaya is a workflow environment for automated genome analysis that provides an interface for several bioinformatics tools and databases, loosely coupled together in a coordinated system, enabling the execution of a set of analyses tools in series or in parallel. It is a client-server workflow environment that has an advantage over existing software as it enables extensive pre & post processing of biological data in an efficient manner. "Anvaya" offers the user, novel functionalities to carry out exhaustive comparative analysis via "custom tools," which are tools with new functionality not available in standard tools, and "built-in PERL parsers," which automate data-flow between tools that hitherto, required manual intervention. It also provides a set of 11 pre-defined workflows for frequently used pipelines in genome annotation and comparative genomics ranging from EST assembly and annotation to phylogenetic reconstruction and microarray analysis. It provides a platform that serves as a single-stop solution for biologists to carry out hassle-free and comprehensive analysis, without being bothered about the nuances involved in tool installation, command line parameters, format conversions required to connect tools and manage/process multiple data sets at a single instance.
