Abstract: Thermal expansion coefficients of YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7−x with the tetragonal and orthorhombic structural phases were measured by the method of differential parallel-plate capacitance. There exist anomalies near 205 K for orthorhombic phase and between 92–130K for tetragonal phase, respectively. We suggest that the former may be related to the lattice instability, indicating that there is a strong electron-phonon interaction; the latter may be result from the structural phase transition which damages the high T c superconductivity. In the meantime, a small jump of the thermal expansion coefficient at T c was observed in the orthorhombic phase and from this the pressure effect was estimated.

Abstract: Most of the existing researches on public health events focus on the number and duration of events in a year or month, which are carried out by regression equation. COVID-19 epidemic, which was discovered in Wuhan, Hubei Province, quickly spread to the whole country, and then appeared as a global public health event. During the epidemic period, Chinese netizens inquired about the dynamics of COVID-19 epidemic through Baidu search platform, and learned about relevant epidemic prevention information. These groups’ search behavior data not only reflect people’s attention to COVID-19 epidemic, but also contain the stage characteristics and evolution trend of COVID-19 epidemic. Therefore, the time, space and attribute laws of propagation of COVID-19 epidemic can be discovered by deeply mining more information in the time series data of search behavior. In this study, it is found that transforming time series data into visibility network through the principle of visibility algorithm can dig more hidden information in time series data, which may help us fully understand the attention to COVID-19 epidemic in Chinese provinces and cities, and evaluate the deficiencies of early warning and prevention of major epidemics. What’s more, it will improve the ability to cope with public health crisis and social decision-making level.

Abstract: We obtain analytically a universal expression of the resonant energies for any one-dimensional (1D) models with the defects having symmetric internal structures. In a 1D periodic system with the on-site energy ε 0 =0 and a nearest-neighbor matrix element t 0 =1.0, two classes of the most interesting and simplest wavefunction behaviors are numerically obtained for the resonant energies around (a) 0, ±1, (b) [Formula: see text], respectively. We show that similar wavefunction behaviors can be found widely in many quasiperiodic and random systems where the delocalization phenomena are predicted. We suggest that the envelope of these wavefunctions can be generally used as a criterion of delocalization of electronic states in 1D random and quasiperiodic lattices.

Abstract: The characteristics of terahertz (THz) generation based on cascaded difference frequency generation (DFG) process in periodically inverted gallium arsenide ( GaAs ) and gallium phosphide ( GaP ) is calculated from coupled wave equations, in which the output enhancement factors are 5.4 and 3.9 in the two crystals, respectively, compared with DFG without cascading. The optimal interaction length, influence of crystal absorption, wave vector mismatch and pump intensity are analyzed. A short discussion on wavelength tuning is also given. The calculated optimal operating parameters and conclusions can provide good directions for the experimental design.

Abstract: The refugee problem is one of the most important issues facing the international community today. It not only troubles the countries where refugees are generated but also has a great impact on the countries where refugees are influx. With the continuous development of globalization, the refugee problem is no longer a problem of a country or a region, but a global problem faced by the international community. To cope with the global refugee problem, this paper analyzes the number of refugees in 156 countries from 1990 to 2020 and transforms the refugee population data of these countries into a complex network through a time series visibility graph (VG) method. First, we categorize the income level of 156 countries and analyze the impact of income level on the increase of refugee numbers. Then, the evaluation index of the number of refugees is obtained through the VG method. Finally, a TOPSIS comprehensive evaluation method based on the entropy weight approach is employed to analyze the data. This paper includes two main contributions. First, the application of the VG method provides a new perspective for enriching the modeling of the global refugee population growth trend. Second, this paper shows that the TOPSIS evaluation method based on the entropy weight method is effective, which provides a new method for further research on the global refugee population growth trend.

Abstract: By adopting density functional theory in combination with nonequilibrium Green's functions, we investigated the electronic structure and transport properties of silicon/nitrogen ( Si / N ) co-doping armchair graphene nanoribbons (AGNRs) with SiN x co-dopant incorporated in neighboring carbon atoms. The results demonstrate that the electronic structure can be modulated by introducing SiN x co-dopants in AGNRs. The striking negative differential resistance behaviors in the range of low bias can be observed in Si / N co-doped AGNR devices. These remarkable properties suggest the potential application of Si / N co-doping AGNRs in molectronics.

Abstract: Based on first-principle calculation, the geometry and electronic transport properties of the boron and nitrogen co-doping single-walled carbon nanotubes are investigated by using density functional theory combined with non-equilibrium Green's functions. The results show that the BN atoms energetically tend to form covalent bond of BN along axis in the nanotubes. In contrast to solely B or N doping, the co-doping do not generate accepter or donor subbands near the Fermi level. The co-doping give rise to the reduction of band gap in semiconducting (10, 0) tube and, furthermore, introduces the band gap to the metallic (5, 5) tube.

Abstract: By applying density functional theory (DFT) combined with nonequilibrium Green's function method, we have investigated the electronic structures and quantum transport properties of (6, 3) spiral chiral single-walled carbon nanotubes (SCSWCNTs) in the presence of carboxyl ( COOH )-containing defect complexes. COOH - B - MV complex defect in (6, 3) single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) was energetically favorable than COOH - B - SW and COOH - B - Per complexes. Our calculated results proved that the complex partially improved the transport properties of (6, 3) SWCNTs with COOH - B - MV complex, but reduced the efficient transmission channels of (6, 3) SWCNTs with COOH - B - SW and COOH - B - Per complexes. It is anticipated that metallic-like (6, 3) SWCNT with COOH -containing complex defects can exhibit large range variations in transport behaviors, which are strongly dependent on the coupling between COOH group and B - MV complex defect. These tremendous properties suggest potential application of COOH -containing B -doped complexes in CNTs-based nanoelectronic devices.

Abstract: Multilayer networks have received considerable attention because a network with one layer cannot be used to describe a complex system with multiple relationships inside it. In this paper, we encapsulate the high-speed railway network into dynamic multilayer infrastructures based on the information of train operations and the railway network topology constrained by geographic factors. In our multilayer railway network, each station defines a node and each train route defines a layer. In order to identify key stations in a multilayer network, we first propose some performance metrics to evaluate the importance of stations. Then, an information fusion method based on the Dempster–Shafer evidence theory is introduced. Through this method, the importance of each node in different layers can be fused, and the results of fusion are used to determine the importance of the stations in the whole multilayer network. Finally, some numerical experiments are discussed to illustrate the usefulness of the proposed method. The results developed in this study could provide guidance for improving traffic managements under emergencies.
