    Abstract: Since December 2019, an outbreak of the Corona Virus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS‐CoV‐2) in Wuhan, China, has become a public health emergency of international concern. The high fatality of aged cases caused by SARS‐CoV‐2 was a need to explore the possible age‐related phenomena with non‐human primate models. Methods Three 3‐5 years old and two 15 years old rhesus macaques were intratracheally infected with SARS‐CoV‐2, and then analyzed by clinical signs, viral replication, chest X‐ray, histopathological changes and immune response. Results Viral replication of nasopharyngeal swabs, anal swabs and lung in old monkeys was more active than that in young monkeys for 14 days after SARS‐CoV‐2 challenge. Monkeys developed typical interstitial pneumonia characterized by thickened alveolar septum accompanied with inflammation and edema, notably, old monkeys exhibited diffuse severe interstitial pneumonia. Viral antigens were detected mainly in alveolar epithelial cells and macrophages. Conclusion SARS‐CoV‐2 caused more severe interstitial pneumonia in old monkeys than that in young monkeys. Rhesus macaque models infected with SARS‐CoV‐2 provided insight into the pathogenic mechanism and facilitated the development of vaccines and therapeutics against SARS‐CoV‐2 infection.

    Abstract: Two large barriers are impeding the wide implementation of electric vehicles, namely driving‐range and cost, primarily due to the low specific energy and high cost of mono‐valence cathodes used in lithium‐ion batteries. Iron is the ideal element for cathode materials considering its abundance, low cost and toxicity. However, the poor reversibility of (de)lithiation and low electronic conductivity prevent iron‐based high specific energy multi‐valence conversion cathodes from practical applications. In this work, a sustainable FeOF nanocomposite is developed with extraordinary performance. The specific capacity and energy reach 621 mAh g −1 and 1124 Wh kg −1 with more than 100 cycles, which triples the specific capacity, and doubles the specific energy of current mono‐valence intercalation LiCoO 2 . This is the result of an effective approach, combing the nanostructured FeOF with graphene, realized by making the (de)lithiation reversible by immobilizing FeOF nanoparticles and the discharge products over the graphene surface and providing the interparticle electric conduction. Importantly, it demonstrates that introducing small amount of graphene can create new materials with desired properties, opening a new avenue for altering the (de)lithiation process. Such extraordinary performance represents a significant breakthrough in developing sustainable conversion materials, eventually overcoming the driving range and cost barriers.

    Abstract: Ameloblastoma (AB) is a common epithelial odontogenic tumor. The Wnt/β‐catenin pathway has been found to be related to AB invasion. Methods The alteration expression of microRNAs (miRNAs) and messenger RNAs (mRNAs) was performed by miRNA and mRNA microarray analysis and validated by quantitative real‐time polymerase chain reaction (RT‐PCR). The effects of miR‐29a‐3p on migration and invasion in AB cells were evaluated by a transwell assay. Bioinformatic prediction was conducted using the miRSystem and validated by quantitative RT‐PCR, western blot, and a luciferase reporter assay. Results miR‐29a‐3p was overexpressed in AB tissues, which promoted the migration and invasion of AB cells in vitro. Catenin beta interacting protein 1 (CTNNBIP1), a negative regulator of the Wnt/β‐catenin pathway, was predicted to be a target of miR‐29a‐3p. miR‐29a‐3p inhibited the expression of CTNNBIP1 and promoted the expression of the downstream molecules of the Wnt/β‐catenin pathway. Conclusions miR‐29a‐3p promoted migration and invasion in AB via Wnt/β‐catenin signaling by targeting CTNNBIP1.

    Abstract: Despite burgeoning evidence for cortical hyperarousal in insomnia disorder, the existing results on electroencephalography spectral features are highly heterogeneous. Phase‐amplitude coupling, which refers to the modulation of the low‐frequency phase to a high‐frequency amplitude, is probably a more sensitive quantitative measure for characterizing abnormal neural oscillations and explaining the therapeutic effect of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation in the treatment of patients with insomnia disorder. Sixty insomnia disorder patients were randomly divided into the active and sham treatment groups to receive 4 weeks of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation treatment. Behavioral assessments, resting‐state electroencephalography recordings, and sleep polysomnography recordings were performed before and after repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation treatment. Forty good sleeper controls underwent the same assessment. We demonstrated that phase‐amplitude coupling values in the frontal and temporal lobes were weaker in Insomnia disorder patients than in those with good sleeper controls at baseline and that phase‐amplitude coupling values near the intervention area were significantly enhanced after active repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation treatment. Furthermore, the enhancement of phase‐amplitude coupling values was significantly correlated with the improvement of sleep quality. This study revealed the potential of phase‐amplitude coupling in assessing the severity of insomnia disorder and the efficacy of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation treatment, providing new insights on the abnormal physiological mechanisms and future treatments for insomnia disorder.

    Abstract: High speed broadband photodetectors (PDs) have attracted significant interest for many applications such as imaging, gas sensing, and night vision. In this study, the widest reported detection range is achieved from 254 nm to 1800 nm by integrating CsPb(BrCl) 3 : Yb 3+ nanocrystals (NCs) with Germanium (Ge) on a Si substrate. To overcome the persistent photoconductance (PPC) effect that limits the detector response speed in the UV region, this study proposes a down conversion technology to convert UV light to 980 nm infrared light by applying a CsPb(BrCl) 3 : Yb 3+ NCs. The response time of the hybrid PD at 275 nm decreased significantly from several hundred seconds to 1.21 µs. Moreover, benefiting from the CsPb(BrCl) 3 : Yb 3+ NCs antireflection layer, the responsivity of a hybrid CsPb(BrCl) 3 : Yb 3+ NCs /Ge metal semiconductor metal (MSM) PD has enhanced the whole detection band, especially at 1310 nm, which increased by 80% from 0.16 to 0.29 A W −1 . This work promotes the development of perovskite integrated optoelectronic devices and provides a feasible route for broad‐band PD from the UV to near infrared (NIR) band.

    Abstract: Eight bicarbazole (BCz) compounds, 9,9′‐diphenyl‐3,3′‐bicarbazole (PhBCz), 9,9′‐di(2‐pyridyl)‐3,3′‐bicarbazole ( o ‐PyBCz), 9,9′‐di(3‐pyridyl)‐3,3′‐ bicarbazole ( m ‐PyBCz), 9,9′‐di(4‐pyridyl)‐3,3′‐bicarbazole ( p ‐PyBCz), 9,9′‐di(5‐pyrimidinyl)‐3,3′‐bicarbazole (PmBCz), 9,9′‐di(2‐pyrazinyl)‐3,3′‐bicarbazole (PzBCz), 9,9′‐di(4‐isoquinolinyl)‐3,3′‐bicarbazole (4‐IqBCz), and 9,9′‐di(5‐isoquinolinyl)‐3,3′‐bicarbazole (5‐IqBCz), that can be divided into three categories: category one with ortho , meta , or para pyridyl substituted BCz (PhBCz as a reference), category two with pyrimidinyl or pyrazinyl substituted BCz, and category three with 4‐ or 5‐isoquinolinyl substituted BCz, were synthesized and characterized in terms of photophysical, thermal, and electrochemical properties. Moreover, these compounds were utilized to codepositing with copper iodide to form luminescent copper iodide complex doped films in situ, whose emission colors range from green to yellow and might be employed as the emissive layer in organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs).

    Abstract: Frozen shoulder is a common disorder that can lead to long‐lasting impairment in shoulder‐related daily activities. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has played an important role in the effort to manage frozen shoulder. Purpose We aimed to develop an evidence‐based guideline for treating frozen shoulder with traditional Chinese medicine. Study design Evidence‐based guideline. Methods We developed this guideline based on internationally recognized and accepted guideline standards. The guideline development group used the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) approach to rate the certainty of evidence and the strength of recommendations. The benefits and harms, resources, accessibility, and other factors were fully taken into account, and the GRADE grid method was used to reach consensus on all recommendations. Results We established a multidisciplinary guideline development panel. Based on a systematic literature search and a face‐to‐face meeting, nine clinical questions were identified. Finally, twelve recommendations were reached by consensus, comprehensively considering the balance of benefits and harms, certainty of evidence, costs, clinical feasibility, accessibility, and clinical acceptability. Conclusion This guideline panel made twelve recommendations, which covered the use of manual therapy, acupuncture, needle knife, Cheezheng Xiaotong plaster, Gutong plaster, exercise therapy and integrated TCM and Western medicine, such as combined modalities and corticosteroid injections. Most of them were weakly recommended or consensus based. The users of this guideline are most likely to be clinicians and health administrators.

    Abstract: Easy and convenient reading for blinds is of great significance for lowering their learning, entertainment, and communication barrier, and improving their living quality. The general solution is to learn braille, far from satisfying the meet of the blinds’ daily learning and communication. Here, a new‐type conductor/insulator‐identifiable e‐tattoo proximity sensor is developed by simply depositing the circular interdigitated electrodes on organic semiconductor. The discriminable recognition toward conductors and insulators is realized only based on a single e‐tattoo device. The sensors not only enable recognition of the protruding characters like braille based on distance difference, but also enable recognition of the handwriting ink‐brush and pencil graphite characters based on the unique advantage of the sensors in distinguishing conduct and insulator. These results open a new route to realize the material category recognition, provide a user‐friendly way to help the visual impaired effectively reintegrate into society, and broaden the application field of proximity sensors.

    Abstract: To investigate the potential causal relationship between non‐alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and complications in type 1 diabetes (T1D) and type 2 diabetes (T2D). Materials and Methods Two‐sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was conducted to appraise after controlling for the confounding factors. Genetic instrument variables for NAFLD surrogated by chronically elevated serum alanine transferase were derived from a recent genome‐wide association study. Diabetes‐related complications, including diabetic ketoacidosis, nephropathy and retinopathy, were included as outcomes. Four complementary MR methods were used to test reliability. Results Genetically instrumented NAFLD showed a suggestive causal association with ketoacidosis in T1D (odds ratio [OR]: 1.574; 95% confidence interval [CI] : 1.076, 2.302; P  = .019; false discovery rate [FDR] = 0.096) and a significant causal association with early‐stage kidney disease in T1D (OR: 1.249; 95% CI: 1.089, 1.432; P  = 1.457 × 10 −3 , FDR = 0.015). Sensitivity analysis indicated low heterogeneity, low pleiotropy and high reliability of the causal estimates. However, the MR analyses failed to show a causal association between NAFLD and T1D retinopathy, T2D ketoacidosis, nephropathy and retinopathy. Conclusions This study supports a causal effect of genetically driven chronic serum alanine aminotransferase‐associated NAFLD on early‐stage kidney disease in T1D and a suggestive causal effect on ketoacidosis in T1D. However, MR studies did not provide enough evidence to suggest that NAFLD independently increases the risk of retinopathy in T1D and of ketoacidosis, nephropathy and retinopathy in T2D.
