Abstract: Little is known about the incidence, clinical characteristics and prognostic factors in HIV associated lymphoma as these are less common than HIV‐negative lymphoma in China. Currently, there are no standard guidelines for treatment of these patients. Therefore, we performed a study to analyse the clinical characteristics and outcomes of newly diagnosed HIV‐associated aggressive B‐cell non‐Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) patients in Chongqing University Cancer Hospital (CUCH). Totally 86 newly diagnosed HIV‐associated aggressive B‐cell NHL patients in CUCH, southwest China, from July 2008 to August 2021, were analysed. In the entire cohort, median age was 48 years (range, 23–87 years), and more patients were male (87.2%). Most patients had elevated lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) (82.6%), advanced ann arbor stage (80.2%) and high IPI score (IPI score, 3–5) (62.7%) at diagnosis. Median CD4+ T‐cell count at diagnosis was 191/μl (range, 4–1022), 84 patients (97.7%) were on combination antiretroviral therapy (cART) at lymphoma diagnosis. In DLBCL patients, cox multivariate analysis showed that age ≥ 60 (HR = 2.251, 95%CI 1.122–4.516; p =  0.012), elevated LDH (HR = 4.452, 95%CI 1.027–19.297; p  = 0.041) and received less than two cycles of chemotherapy (HR = 0.629, 95%CI 0.589–1.071; p =  0.012) were independent risk factors for adverse prognosis based on PFS. Age ≥ 60 (HR = 3.162, 95%CI 1.500–6.665; p =  0.002) and received less than two cycles of chemotherapy (HR = 0.524, 95%CI 0.347–0.791; p =  0.002) were also independent risk factor for adverse prognosis based on OS. In BL patients, cox multivariate analysis showed that elevated LDH and received less than two cycles of chemotherapy were independent risk factors for adverse prognosis. In the DLBCL group, median PFS times in the received rituximab and no received rituximab groups were not reached and 12 months, respectively ( p =  0.006). Median OS times were not reached and 36 months, respectively ( p =  0.021). In the BL group, median PFS times in the received rituximab and no received rituximab groups were not reached and 4.8 months, respectively ( p =  0.046). Median OS times were not reached and 10.1 months, respectively ( p =  0.035). Overall, these data indicated that standardized anti‐lymphoma therapy and rituximab administration were significantly associated with improved outcomes in patients with HIV‐associated DLBCL and BL.

Abstract: Optical lenses require feature resolution and surface roughness that are beyond most (3D) printing methods. A new continuous projection‐based vat photopolymerization process is reported that can directly shape polymer materials into optical lenses with microscale dimensional accuracy ( 〈 14.7 µm) and nanoscale surface roughness ( 〈 20 nm) without post‐processing. The main idea is to utilize frustum layer stacking, instead of the conventional 2.5D layer stacking, to eliminate staircase aliasing. A continuous change of mask images is achieved using a zooming‐focused projection system to generate the desired frustum layer stacking with controlled slant angles. The dynamic control of image size, objective and imaging distances, and light intensity involved in the zooming‐focused continuous vat photopolymerization are systematically investigated. The experimental results reveal the effectiveness of the proposed process. The 3D‐printed optical lenses with various designs, including parabolic lenses, fisheye lenses, and a laser beam expander, are fabricated with a surface roughness of 3.4 nm without post‐processing. The dimensional accuracy and optical performance of the 3D‐printed compound parabolic concentrators and fisheye lenses within a few millimeters are investiagted. These results highlight the rapid and precise nature of this novel manufacturing process, demonstrating a promising avenue for future optical component and device fabrication.

Abstract: Age‐related diseases such as cardiovascular diseases portend disability, increase health expenditures, and cause late‐life mortality. Synthetic agonists of growth hormone‐releasing hormone (GHRH) exhibit several favorable effects on heart function and remodeling. Here we assessed whether GHRH agonist MR409 can modulate heart function and systemic parameters in old mice. Starting at the age of 15 months, mice were injected subcutaneously with MR409 (10 µg/day, n  = 8) or vehicle ( n  = 7) daily for 6 months. Mice treated with MR409 showed improvements in exercise activity, cardiac function, survival rate, immune function, and hair growth in comparison with the controls. More stem cell colonies were grown out of the bone marrow recovered from the MR409‐treated mice. Mitochondrial functions of cardiomyocytes (CMs) from the MR409‐treated mice were also significantly improved with more mitochondrial fusion. Fewer β‐gal positive cells were observed in endothelial cells after 10 passages with MR409. In Doxorubicin‐treated H9C2 cardiomyocytes, cell senescence marker p21 and reactive oxygen species were significantly reduced after cultured with MR409. MR409 also improved cellular ATP production and oxygen consumption rate in Doxorubicin‐treated H9C2 cells. Mitochondrial protein OPA1 long isoform was significantly increased after treatment with MR409. The effects of MR409 were mediated by GHRH receptor and protein kinase A (PKA). In short, GHRH agonist MR409 reversed the aging‐associated changes with respect of heart function, mobility, hair growth, cellular energy production, and senescence biomarkers. The improvement of heart function may be related to a better mitochondrial functions through GHRH receptor/cAMP/PKA/OPA1 signaling pathway and relieved cardiac inflammation.

Abstract: Hybridization is very common in flowering plants and it plays a significant role in plant evolution and adaptation. Melastoma L. (Melastomataceae) comprises about 80–90 species in tropical Asia and Oceania, among which 41 species occur in Borneo. Natural hybridization is frequently reported in Melastoma in China, but so far there have been no confirmed cases of hybridization in Southeast Asia (including Borneo), where most species occur. Here, we identified a case of natural hybridization between Melastoma malabathricum L. and Melastoma beccarianum Cogn. in Sarawak, Malaysia, by using sequence data of three nuclear genes and one chloroplast intergenic spacer. Melastoma malabathricum is the most widespread species of this genus, occurring in almost the whole range of this genus, while M. beccarianum is a local species endemic to northern Borneo. Our results showed that natural hybridization and introgression occur between M. malabathricum and M. beccarianum , and the introgression was asymmetrical, mainly from M. malabathricum to M. beccarianum . As adaptive traits can be transferred by introgression, our study suggests that natural hybridization should be a significant mechanism for the evolution and adaptation of Melastoma in Southeast Asia. However, introgression from the common species M. malabathricum to the relatively rare species M. beccarianum may cause the decline of M. beccarianum , incurring conservation concern. With a large number of species of Melastoma and almost year‐around flowering in Southeast Asia, more cases of natural hybridization are expected to be found and identified in near future.

Abstract: Engineering the structure and chemistry of solid electrolyte interface (SEI) on electrode materials is crucial for rechargeable batteries. Using hard carbon (HC) as a platform material, a correlation between Na + storage performance, and the properties of SEI is comprehensively explored. It is found that a “good” SEI layer on HC may not be directly associated with certain kinds of SEI components, such as NaF and Na 2 O. Whereas, arranging nano SEI components with refined structures constructs the foundation of “good” SEI that enables fast Na + storage and interface stability of HC in Na‐ion batteries. A layer‐by‐layer SEI on HC with inorganic‐rich inner layer and tolerant organic‐rich outer flexible layer can facilitate excellent rate and cycling life. Besides, SEI layer as the gate for Na + from electrolyte to HC electrode can modulate interfacial crystallographic structures of HC with pillar‐solvent that function as “pseudo‐SEI” for fast and stable Na + storage in optimal 1 m NaPF 6 ‐TEGDME electrolytes. Such a layer‐by‐layer SEI combined with a “pseudo‐SEI” layer for HC enables an outstanding rate of 192 mAh g −1 at 2 C and stable cycling over 1100 cycles at 0.5 C. This study provides valuable guidance to improve the electrochemical performance of electrode materials through regulation of SEI in optimal electrolytes.

Abstract: The non‐metal NH 4 + carrier has attracted tremendous interests for aqueous energy storage owing to its light molar mass and fast diffusion in aqueous electrolytes. Previous study inferred that NH 4 + ion storage in layered VOPO 4 ⋅2 H 2 O is impossible due to the removal of NH 4 + from NH 4 VOPO 4 leads to a phase change inevitably. Herein, we update this cognition and demonstrated highly reversible intercalation/de‐intercalation behavior of NH 4 + in layered VOPO 4 ⋅2 H 2 O host. Satisfactory specific capacity of 154.6 mAh g −1 at 0.1 A g −1 and very stable discharge potential plateau at 0.4 V based on reference electrode was achieved in VOPO 4 ⋅2 H 2 O. A rocking‐chair ammonium‐ion full cell with the VOPO 4 ⋅2 H 2 O//2.0 M NH 4 OTf//PTCDI configuration exhibited a specific capacity of 55 mAh g −1 , an average operating voltage of about 1.0 V and excellent long‐term cycling stability over 500 cycles with a coulombic efficiency of ≈99 %. Theoretical DFT calculations suggest a unique crystal water substitution process by ammonium ion during the intercalation process. Our results provide new insight into the intercalation/de‐intercalation of NH 4 + ions in layered hydrated phosphates through crystal water enhancement effect.

Abstract: Nanoconfinement of cations in layered oxide cathode is an important approach to realize advanced zinc ion storage performance. However, thus far, the conventional hydrothermal/solvothermal route for this nanoconfinement has been restricted to its uncontrollable phase structure and the difficulty on the multiple cation co‐confinement simultaneously. Herein, this work reports a general, supramolecular self‐assembly of ultrathin V 2 O 5 nanosheets using various unitary cations including Na + , K + , Mg 2+ , Ca 2+ , Zn 2+ , Al 3+ , NH 4 + , and multiple cations (NH 4 + + Na + , NH 4 + + Na + + Ca 2+ , NH 4 + + Na + + Ca 2+ +Mg 2+ ). The unitary cation confinement results in a remarkable increase in the specific capacity and Zn‐ion diffusion kinetics, and the multiple cation confinement gives rise to superior structural and cycling stability by multiple cation synergetic pillaring effect. The optimized diffusion coefficient of Zn‐ion (7.5 × 10 −8 cm 2 s −1 ) in this assembly series surpasses most of the V‐based cathodes reported up to date. The work develops a novel multiple‐cations nanoconfinement strategy toward high‐performance cathode for aqueous battery. It also provides new insights into the guest cation regulation of zinc‐ion diffusion kinetics through a general, supramolecular assembly pathway.
