Abstract: A new natural zircon reference material SA01 is introduced for U‐Pb geochronology as well as O and Hf isotope geochemistry by microbeam techniques. The zircon megacryst is homogeneous with respect to U‐Pb, O and Hf isotopes based on a large number of measurements by laser ablation‐inductively coupled plasma‐mass spectrometry (LA‐ICP‐MS) and secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS). Chemical abrasion isotope dilution thermal ionisation mass spectrometry (CA‐ID‐TIMS) U‐Pb isotopic analyses produced a mean 206 Pb/ 238 U age of 535.08 ± 0.32 Ma (2 s , n =  10). Results of SIMS and LA‐ICP‐MS analyses on individual shards are consistent with the TIMS ages within uncertainty. The δ 18 O value determined by laser fluorination is 6.16 ± 0.26‰ (2 s , n =  14), and the mean 176 Hf/ 177 Hf ratio determined by solution MC‐ICP‐MS is 0.282293 ± 0.000007 (2 s , n =  30), which are in good agreement with the statistical mean of microbeam analyses. The megacryst is characterised by significant localised variations in Th/U ratio (0.328–4.269) and Li isotopic ratio (−5.5 to +7.9‰); the latter makes it unsuitable as a lithium isotope reference material.

Abstract: Strong deoxidation and weak deoxidation are two kinds of deoxidation methods frequently applied in steelmaking. In the present study, high‐carbon chromium bearing steels are smelted with a strong deoxidizer and a weak deoxidizer, respectively in industrial trials. The generation mechanism of inclusions is analyzed, and the inclusion stability diagrams of the Fe–Si–Al–Mg–Mn–O system at 1873 and 1843 K are calculated. The very high cycle fatigue life of bearing steels deoxidized with different deoxidizers is also experimentally compared. The results showed that the evolution routes of inclusion in high‐carbon chromium bearing steels deoxidized by Si and Al are CaO–Al 2 O 3 –SiO 2  → CaO–Al 2 O 3 –SiO 2 –MgO and Al 2 O 3  → CaO–Al 2 O 3 –SiO 2 –MgO, respectively. The Al content in steel is controlled by different methods when different deoxidizers are applied. The effect of the oxide inclusions generated during Si deoxidization on the fatigue life is lower than that during Al deoxidization, even if the total oxygen content is slightly higher. This effect suggests that it is not accurate to evaluate the fatigue life of steels with the total oxygen content, and it is also desirable to produce bearing steels with the Si deoxidation method.

Abstract: With the development and generalization of endoscopic technology and screening, clinical application of magnetically controlled capsule gastroscopy (MCCG) has been increasing. In recent years, various types of MCCG are used globally. Therefore, establishing relevant guidelines on MCCG is of great significance. The current guidelines containing 23 statements were established based on clinical evidence and expert opinions, mainly focus on aspects including definition and diagnostic accuracy, application population, technical optimization, inspection process, and quality control of MCCG. The level of evidence and strength of recommendations were evaluated. The guidelines are expected to guide the standardized application and scientific innovation of MCCG for the reference of clinicians.

Abstract: Dissolved organic matter (DOM) collected from the surface and overlying waters in different functional regions in Lake Baiyangdian were analyzed by spectroscopic techniques combined with principal component analysis (PCA) and hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA), to interpret water quality, and sources of pollutants. The results showed that the deterioration of water quality has intensified at river estuary and aquaculture area. Meanwhile, these regions dominated by plants had relatively low dissolved oxygen concentrations. UV‐vis spectra showed lower humification degree and simpler molecular structure in the DOM collected from the pollutant‐receiving region. The analysis of PCA combined with synchronous fluorescence spectra yielded two principal components (PCs) that account for 99.44% of the variance. PC1 showed a dominant protein‐like fluorophore at 279 nm and PC2 was characterized by dominated fulvic‐like fluorophores (325 and 331 nm). The results of PCA indicated that DOM collected from the river estuary, the aquaculture region, and the eutrophication area exhibited a higher protein‐like fluorophore, and higher PC1 and lower PC2 loadings (PC1  〉  0.7, PC2  〈  0.4). Meanwhile, a higher fulvic‐like fluorophore existed in the DOM samples collected from a clean region (PC1  〈  0.4, PC2  〉  0.7). HCA identified four clusters that accorded with the PCA results. This study suggested that water quality and the sources, and spectral characteristics of DOM were influenced mainly by human activities (agriculture, industrial, and domestic wastewater from upstream, food and excrement from aquaculture) and natural processes (aquatic‐plant and microorganism activities).

Abstract: Polystyrene‐block‐polybutadiene‐block‐polystyrene triblock copolymer ( SBS ) has the potential to be used as a dielectric elastomer for actuator, sensor, energy harvesting, and so on, but its low dielectric constant and thermal conductivity seriously limit this application. In this study, novel exfoliated graphite nanoplates ( xGNP s)/ SBS composites were prepared by a solution‐blending method using N,N‐dimethylformamide and tetrahydrofuran as co‐solvents. Wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction measurement confirms that xGNP s have been incorporated into SBS . Furthermore, the result of scanning electron microscopy shows that xGNP s disperse well in the SBS matrix. The effects of xGNP s on the dielectric constant and thermal conductivity of the resultant xGNP s/ SBS composites were investigated. The dielectric constant at 1,000 Hz significantly increased from 2.72 for pure SBS to 15.96 and 40.94 for xGNP s/ SBS composite containing 1.19 and 1.27 vol.% of xGNP s, respectively. Moreover, the thermal conductivity of the xGNP s/ SBS composite containing 1.27 vol.% of xGNP s has been improved from 0.18 to 0.41 W/m·K in comparison with that of pure SBS.

Abstract: Cross‐sectional studies were conducted during 1981‐1983 among 861 textile workers in 3 cotton mills and 822 controls in 2 silk factories. Questionnaire and lung function tests were taken and inhalable dust concentrations were measured. Prevalence of byssionosis was 5.6%. Average dust concentrations were highest in carding rooms, 1.47–1.99 mg/m 3 . The correlations (r) between prevalence of byssionosis and dust concentrations was 0.64 (p 〈 0.05). The prevalence of chronic bronchitis was 14.4% in cotton workers and 5.1% in controls (p 〈 0.05). Acute FEV 1 percent decrement ( 〉 5%) was higher among cotton workers (32.1%) compared to controls (14.5%) (p 〈 0.001). In one cotton blanket factory, the prevalence of byssinosis and chronic bronchitis was higher among workers in the high‐dust work areas. Long‐term effect studies included pulmonary function test among 173 cotton workers and 373 controls, retired 1‐10 years, using the flow volume curve (FVC); chest X‐rays of 140 pairs of cotton workers and controls with working tenures over 20 years; and examination of lobectomy specimens of 8 textile workers matched with 16 controls. In male cotton workers, only smokers had a prominent decrement of lung function indices, except FVC. For non‐smoking females, there was no difference between the two groups. Additive effects were seen between smoking and dust exposure. According to the Internatonal Labor Organization (ILO) Pneumoconiosis Classification, the prevalence of abnormality (profusion 〉 1/0) was 4.3% and 8.7% in non‐smoking controls and cotton workers. The interstitial changes on X‐ray due to smoking would be much heavier. Additive effects also existed between smoking and dust exposures. No significant changes attributable to dust exposure were seen on pathological section of lobectomy specimens.

Abstract: The well‐known Hencky solution is only applicable to the problem of deformation of the elastic circular membrane without initial stress under transverse uniformly‐distributed loads. The problem considered here is a more general case: an initial tensile or compressive stress has been present in the initially flat circular membrane before the membrane is subjected to the transverse loads. The closed‐form solution of the considered problem was presented and all the expressions obtained here for displacements, strains and stresses have the same form as those in the well‐known Hencky solution. The initial stress plays an important role in the determination of numerical value of the integral constant controlling membrane equation. The solution obtained here can be regressed into the well‐known Hencky solution when the initial stress is equal to zero, and it is therefore called extended Hencky solution.

Abstract: Recent studies suggest that SLCO1B1 c.521T  〉  C variant decreases the clearance of methotrexate (MTX) and elevates its plasma concentration, hence leucovorin doses may need to be adjusted. However, high leucovorin doses may affect the cure rate in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Hitherto neither the appropriate dose of leucovorin in carriers of SLCO1B1 c.521T  〉  C variant nor the impact of SLCO1B1 polymorphism on the risk of ALL relapse has been clarified. Procedure A double‐blind and controlled study was conducted in 136 children with ALL. They were genotyped for rs4149056 single nucleotide polymorphism into wild‐type group and variant group, and received MTX at 3–5 g/m 2 . Plasma concentration MTX and its metabolite were determined by HPLC. The toxicity of MTX, dose of leucovorin and 5‐year relapse rate of ALL were recorded. Results Compared with wild‐type group, area under the concentration time curve of MTX increased by 4.2‐fold and peripheral clearance rate decreased significantly in variant group. Patients carrying rs4149056 C allele endured a remarkable longer time above the MTX safety threshold and suffered from a higher frequency of toxicity, so 2.2‐fold leucovorin was given. However, no association was found between SLCO1B1 c.521T  〉  C variant and the relapse risk in five years. Conclusions The SLCO1B1 c.521T  〉  C variant was an important determinant of MTX disposition and their carriers were exposed to increased intensity and time of MTX. An appropriate leucovorin dose raise in variant group was beneficial to reducing the serious toxicity. The c.521T  〉  C variant wasn't associated with the risk of ALL relapse. Abstract: Anti‐Alzheimer's disease (AD) drugs can only change the symptoms of cognitive impairment in a short time but cannot prevent or completely cure AD. Thus, a more effective drug is urgently needed. Cornuside is extracted from Corni Fructus, a traditional Chinese medicine that plays an important role in treating dementia and other age‐related diseases. Thus, the study aimed to explore the effects and mechanisms of Cornuside on the D‐galactose (D‐Gal) induced aging mice accompanied by cognitive decline. Initially, we found that Cornuside improved the learning and memory abilities of D‐Gal‐treated mice in behavioral experiments. Pharmacological experiments indicated that Cornuside acted on anti‐oxidant and anti‐inflammatory effects. Cornuside also reversed acetylcholin esterase (AChE) activity. Meanwhile, pathology tests showed that Cornuside had a protective effect on neuron damage. Cornuside increased the expression of brain‐derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), and down‐regulated the expression of receptor for advanced glycosylation end products (RAGE), ionized calcium binding adapter molecule 1 (Iba1), and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) respectively. Further studies claimed that Cornuside had important effects on the expression of IκBα and extracellular signal‐regulated kinases 1/2 (ERK1/2). These effects might be achieved through regulating the AGEs‐RAGE‐IκBα‐ERK1/2 signaling pathway, among which, ERK1/2 might be the key protein. The study provides direct preclinical evidence for the research of Cornuside, which may become an excellent candidate drug for the treatment of aging‐related AD.
