Abstract:
What's new? Matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry is a powerful tool with the potential to measure biomolecular features of cancer that may be of investigative, diagnostic, or prognostic significance. In this study, MALDI was found to be capable of identifying mass‐per‐charge signals associated with TMPRSS2‐ERG gene fusion in a prostate cancer tissue microarray based on patient samples. The findings suggest that the approach could be used to characterize clinically relevant molecular signals of malignant disease and therefore could be of value for clinical screening.
