    Abstract: Vegetable oils belong to a large group of substances consumed on a daily basis. World vegetable oil production is soaring, reducing the popularity of animal fats. Heavy metals pose a threat to human health. It is estimated that about 80% of the daily dose of heavy metals enters the human body through the consumption of food. Hence, it is necessary to monitor their concentrations in food products. Besides, the presence of heavy metals is thought to have possible negative influence on the quality of oils, especially on their taste and smell. Heavy metals may also accelerate the process of the rancidifiction of oils. Rapeseeds, soybean seeds and linseeds were selected for the analysis because they are one of the most popular oilseeds and at the same time they differ in terms of growing conditions. The analyses of different fractions and the ready-made product were also performed. The aim of the study was to determine the variation in concentrations of heavy metals, iron and manganese in different fractions during production. The significant concentrations of iron, manganese and zinc were observed in oilseeds. It was also shown that during different stages of oil refining the concentrations of metals decrease. The concentrations of metals are compared with those reported in literature.

    Abstract: Most systems used in quantum physics experiments require the efficient and simultaneous recording different multi-photon coincidence detection events. In such experiments, the single-photon gated counting systems can be applicable. The main sources of errors in these systems are both instability of the clock source and their imperfect synchronization with the excitation source. Below, we propose a solution for improvement of the metrological parameters of such measuring systems. Thus, we designed a novel integrated circuit dedicated to registration of signals from a photon number resolving detectors including a phase synchronizer module. This paper presents the architecture of a high-resolution (~60 ps) digital phase synchronizer module cooperating with a multi-channel coincidence counter. The main characteristic feature of the presented system is its ability to fast synchronization (requiring only one clock period) with the measuring process. Therefore, it is designed to work with various excitation sources of a very wide frequency range. Implementation of the phase synchronizer module in an FPGA device enabled to reduce the synchronization error value from 2.857 ns to 214.8 ps.

    Abstract: This study aimed to quantify levels of the toxic heavy metals metalloid arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb) and mercury (Hg) in commercially available noodles. Analysis was performed via the acid microwave digestion method followed by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Furthermore, the potential health risks resulting from the consumption of noodles by polish consumers were evaluated using the estimated average daily intake of heavy metals (ADIHMs; µg·kg −1 bw·day −1 ). Additionally, to assess the potential health consequences due to noodle consumption, the total hazard quotient (THQ) and cancer risk (CR) were calculated. The average contents of Pb, As, Cd, and Hg in instant noodle samples were determined as 9.241, 8.483, 29.39, and 1.661 µg·kg −1 , respectively. THQ values for heavy metal toxicity were found to be below 1, indicating that the consumer is not exposed to carcinogenic health risks associated with the analyzed metals. Additionally, the rank order of max THQ was Pb 〈 Cd 〈 As 〈 Hg, and the mean THQ was Pb 〈 Hg 〈 As 〈 Cd, while both the max and mean CR rank orders were Pb 〈 Cd 〈 As.
