Abstract: According to the World Health Organization (WHO), air pollution ranks 6th among the leading causes of death globally. The wet porous membrane filter has been widely used in dust removal, VOCs, and acid gas absorption. The wet filtration solutions need to ensure a low water activity that limits the release of moisture into the air, inhibits microbial growth, and can absorb dangerous gases. This study investigated the water activity of NaCl, NaNO3, K2CO3, KCl, K2SO4, Mg(NO3)2, MgCl2, and CaCl2 solutions at different concentrations to saturation at 25 °C. NaCl and NaOH solutions are not only investigated at different concentrations but also investigated the effect of temperature in the range of 0-40 °C. Some solution formulas are suggested that ensures the following properties: low water activity, antifungal, antibacterial and acid gas absorption.

Abstract: This research evaluated the effectiveness of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) antibiotic degradation in aqueous solution using red mud and rice husk biochar (RMC) as catalytic material for ultrasound-supported degradation process. Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) were applied to study the characteristics of the catalytic material. The results demonstrated that the main components of RMC catalytic material are C, O, Si, and Fe elements with high weight percentage of 26.56%, 50.89%, 1.86% and 10.26%, respectively, and with high crystallized mix ratio. These are beneficial for SMX degradation reactions in water under the effect of ultrasound irradiation. The SMX degradation products were analyzed using High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The effect of pH, contact time, initial concentration, and catalyst weight on degradation effectiveness were also investigated. The highest degradation efficiency of 75% at the treated rate of 15 mg SMX/g RMC was observed at pH = 3, contact time of 180 minutes, initial concentration of 20 mg SMX/L. This suggested a new solution to utilize the waste resources for waste treatment.

Abstract: Abstract: This study was conducted to determine the criteria for evaluating sustainable universities for Vietnam. The Delphi method is used to collect opinions of experts from the field of environment and sustainable development on some proposed criteria. The results of the first round of Delphi were synthesized and analyzed according to KAMET principles. A set of proposed criteria have been identified and selected. The Kendall coefficient, calculated from the Delphi round 2 questionnaire, is 0.52, showing a strong consensus and high level of confidence of experts on the four groups of sustainable university evaluation criteria for Vietnam, including: Research training and participation in extracurricular activities; Operation; Governance and policy; Community involvement and social responsibility. The research results provide the foundation for a set of criteria to evaluate sustainable universities for Vietnam.
