Abstract: Compression tests were performed at temperatures from 350 to 450 °C with different strain rates of 1.0×10−2 and 1.0×10−1 s−1. The microstructures of deformed samples were investigated by electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). Microstructure observations indicated that under present deformation conditions, fraction of new grains increases with the Z value. It was found that different nucleation mechanisms for DRX were operated in hot deformed 7055 alloy, which was closely related to deformation condition. DRX nucleation and development were discussed in consideration of bulging of original grain boundaries and occasional subgrain rotation near the grain boundaries. Discontinuous dynamic recrystallization (DDRX) which occurred in a local area was also proved to be a nucleation mechanism at higher Z value for 7055 alloy.

Abstract: The phase transformations of the directionally solidified (DS) and powder metallurgy (PM) Ni-base superalloys were investigated by JMatPro, synchrotron XRD (SXRD) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The minor phases, such as MC, eutectic γ′ and Ni 5 Hf, and γ matrix with secondary γ′ existed in as-cast microstructure of DS DZ22. However, only γ matrix was found in PM625 alloy powders. The phase change in both heating (melting) and cooling (solidification) process was investigated by DSC on DZ22 test bar and PM625 alloy powders respectively. The DSC experiment with different heating/cooling rates (5-40°C/min) was performed on DS superalloy DZ22. The results indicated that the heating/cooling rate had obvious effect on the DSC results of the phase transformation temperatures of liquidus, MC carbides, solidus, eutectic (γ+γ′) and secondary γ′. The heating and cooling DSC curves shifted to high and low temperature direction respectively, accompanied by the heating/cooling rate increased. However, the average values of specific peaks of heating and cooling curves are relatively consistent which is close to the equilibrium phase change temperatures of the alloy and makes the results comparable. Besides the average value method, the liquidus temperature of the alloy (0°C/min) can also be obtained by method of linear-fit/extrapolating from 5-40°C/min heating/cooling rates or inflection point deviate from the baseline of DSC cooling curves which could minimize the heating/cooling rate effects. The DSC experiment was carried out on PM625 superalloy powders with different particle size range (0-355μm), the results indicated that the particle size had minor effect on liquidus and solidus temperatures of DSC heating curves, the differences were less than 2°C. The change in phase transformation temperatures under different heating/cooling rate should be considered for selecting the process parameter (heat treatment, HIP or casting) for manufacturing Ni-base superalloy components.

Abstract: Yunnan is very rich in natural resources, and using natural materials for building is an ancient tradition in local minority. In the remote poverty national areas, we always concern about making use of appropriate technical means, following the tradition of local construction, and efficiently applying local natural building materials. In addition, we pay close attention to improving their living quality effectively by the techniques. In this article, from a specific practice casethe United Nations GEF small grants programme, we make multiple detailed comparative analysis with traditional houses at the first, next we discuss appropriate design in the new residential construction of Aini in Xishuangbanna. And then we focus on using the local natural building materials such as bamboo, wood, adobe and other materials, by which we can make the improved design on roof system, wall system and floor system, so as to reduce construction costs and technical complexity, as well as we can effectively improve the living quality of construction at the same time. A demo project was constructed to show how these natural materials were integrated into a system to form the whole building. Joint team consists of local craftsmen and engineers constructed the demo-project so that the technology can be localized.

Abstract: Pressurizer surge line is one of the key equipments of nuclear power plants. The thermal stratification due to the intersection of hot and cold fluids inside the pressurizer surge line may affect the safe operation of nuclear power plant. In order to investigate the stress distribution and fatigue characteristics of surge line subjected to long-term thermal stratified loadings, a mechanical model of the surge line was established. And then, according to different temperature distribution assumptions, thermal stress analysis and fatigue assessment were conducted. The results show that the maximum stress appears under the load condition with maximum temperature difference, and finer temperature distribution can obtain more accurate stress and displacement results. The maximum value of fatigue cumulative coefficient appears at the junction of straight pipe and elbow with large temperature difference.

Abstract: The Risk Based Corrective Action (RBCA) Tool Kit for Chemical Releases was used to develop Soil Screening Levels (SSLs) for contaminated sites assessment in Beijing. A total 88 contaminants, including inorganic compounds, volatile organic compounds, semi-volatile organic compounds, pesticides, polybrominated biphenyls and others, were identified as the priority compounds of concern, and a range of exposure parameters, toxicological data and site factors based on the environmental monitoring data from several contaminated sites in Beijing, were used as model inputs to derive SSLs. The proposed SSLs were evaluated and validated by comparing with corresponding values in some other countries/regions. The present study has an important guiding significance for the development of risk-based SSLs in other provinces/cities of China.

Abstract: Continuous multi-filament boron nitride fibers have been prepared on a large scale using the melt drawn technique from a low-cost boracic acid. Boracic acid was heated to obtain the molten boric oxide in a melting tank. Molten boric oxide was melt spun in a conventional manner through an 200-tip bushing to produce a continuous multifilament yarn consisting of 200 filaments of boric oxide. Boric oxide fibers were nitrided in an ammonia and were annealed in an inert atmosphere while simultaneously subjecting the fibers to sufficient longitudinal tension as to at least prevent longitudinal shrinkage of the fibers. The resulting fibers, consisting essentially of boron nitride, were less than about 8 μm in diameter and greater than 500 m in length. It indicated that the boron nitride fibers has a sound mechanical function with tensile strength of 1.40 GPa. The continuous boron nitride fibers of high-performance were especially suitable for reinforcing plastic, ceramic or metal matrices in the preparation of fiber reinforced composites.

Abstract: Boron nitride(BN) fibres were synthesized by modified technique of Economy’s method. The products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) absorption spectroscopy, field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), X-ray energy dispersive spectrum (EDS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The results showed that BN fibers were mainly hexagonal boron nitride ( h -BN) with diameters of 5-8 μm and the major compositions of BN fibers are B and N with a very small amount of O and C. At last, the chemical composition of samples were determined by the chemical analysis test method like GB/T 16555-2008 and GJB 507-1998.

Abstract: Zirconia fiber separator is one of the important materials of nickel-hydrogen battery .In this paper,we studied the factors affecting the properties of zirconia fiber separator used as nickel-hydrogen battery separator, which prepared by precursor process, including the precursor fibers, fibrous cloths, concentration of the precursor solution and the heating rate before 500oC.The results show that, because the gully structure copied the precursor fibers, as well as smaller diameter of the fiber has larger specific surface area, so the zirconia cloth has the higher absorption capacity and retention ability of alkal. In the same way as woven, the low fabric areal density is beneficial to the absorption ability. When the concentration of the precursor solution is 1.36g/ml, the properties of the zirconia fiber separator is the best. If the heating rate is too fast, will cause a decrease in performance of zirconia fiber separator. The diameter of the fibers in the zirconia fiber sepatator is about 4-5μm, the main phase of the separator is tetragonal zirconia.
