Abstract: In this paper, a heuristic Multivariant Optimization Algorithm (MOA), which has the ability to locate multiple optima through alternating global-local search iterations by multivariant search groups including global exploration groups and local exploitation groups based on a structure where the optimizing process is saved, is described in detail. The performances of MOA are compared with that of other heuristic algorithms including GA and PSO based on six benchmark functions and the experiment results indicate that MOA outperforms GA and PSO in success rate and convergence efficiency on multimodal functions.

Abstract: Multivariant Optimization Algorithm (MOA) is a newly proposed algorithm and its multi-group property make it a perfect choice for multimodal optimization. In this paper, an absorption mechanism was introduced into MOA to remove the redundant search information that stored in the structure and we named the proposed algorithm as the Absorption Multivariant Optimization Algorithm (AMOA). With this mechanism, more search information will be captured and the search information will be shared more effectively. The proposed algorithm is tested on nine benchmark functions to compare the performance with standard MOA under the same condition. The experimental results suggest that the improved algorithm can keep high success rate as the number of global optima increase and the output result would be more stable.

Abstract: TiN thin films were deposited by Arc Ion Plating(AIP) with or without Magnetic Filter(AIP or MFAIP) on silicon(Si) and high-speed steel(HSS) substrates, respectively.Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM),X-ray Diffraction(XRD),nanoindentation and microscratch tests were applied for microstructure and property investigation.SEM data showed that the AIP films are plagued with macro-particles(MPs),while the MFAIP films have no or less MPs.XRD showed that the MFAIP films have more obvious preferred orientation at (111) than the AIP films.Scratch Crack Propagation Resistance(CPRs) was introduced to evaluate the film adhesion properties in a scratch test.MFAIP films had higher adhesion.AIP films were susceptible to failure as the CPRs was lower. The MFAIP films had higher hardness than the AIP ones, due to the reason of less MPs in MFAIP films and more obvious preferred orientation. It was proposed that the MPs were effectively removed with the magnetic filter, so the properties of the MFAIP films were greatly improved.

Abstract: In current paper, compared to the conventional coagulation, micro-sand (MS) and magnetic powder (MP) ballasted flocculation were investigated during the treatment of micro-polluted surface water by simulating ActifloTM and SiroflocTM process. Under an optimized operation condition, the optimal turbidity, COD Mn and TP removal, 94.5%, 75.1% and 93.0%, respectively could be achieved by the MP process. In further research, pollutants removal efficiency at various settling time (5, 10, 15, 20 min), flocs two-dimensional fractal dimension and average size were simultaneously studied and the relationship among them was also discussed.

Abstract: Gear drive systems have been used widely in mechanical power and motion transmissions, and their mechanical properties and working performances such as vibrations and noise caused by high-speed and heavy-load could influence the whole machines quality. In a traditional analysis, in order to research the effects of different random errors, on gear drive systems vibration and noise we need to do multiple repetitive physical tests, which will take lots of time, labor and financial input to acquire. On the contrary, virtual reliability tests developed recently can take place of the physical tests to analyze the systems dynamic characteristics accurately sometimes (reduce the cost and raise efficiency). In this paper, ADAMS/APDL technology combined with Pro/E software is a successful method to build a total coupled parametric virtual test model of the gear drive system; subsequently, every parts dynamic characteristic curves and data are obtained conveniently, and these will be meaningful for further analysis of the relationship among inputs, systems, and responses.

Abstract: This paper introduces the test results of the flexural performance of CF40 steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) designed by the binary superposition mix design method. The flexural strength and flexural load ~ deflection curves were got from the test SFRC specimens with the different fraction of steel fiber by volume and the different thickness of cement paste wrapping steel fibers. The effects of the fraction of steel fiber by volume and the thickness of cement paste on the flexural strength and toughness of SFRC are analyzed. It is demonstrated that the flexural toughness of SFRC increases with the increase of the fraction of steel fiber by volume, the reasonable thickness of cement paste wrapping steel fibers is 1.0mm.

Abstract: The different pretreatment methods for analysis of geosmin and 2-methylisobomeol by GC-MS in drinking water were systemically studied and applied, such as liquid-liquid extraction, solid phase extraction, and solid phase micro-extraction. The results show that solid phase extraction is the better one, which C18 and carbinol were adopted as filling and washing solvents. The relative standard deviation of SPE-GC-MS for analysis geosmin and 2-Methylisoborneol were 1.5% and 1.7%, the recovery rate were in the range of 98.8%~102.0% and 99.5%~104.0%, respectively. 2-methylisobomeol was the major taste and odor of a micro-polluted reservoir in later autumn to earlier winter, which was secreted by Planktothrix and O scillatoria .

Abstract: This paper presents a new type of globoidal indexing cam mechanism with steel ball. The characteristic of this mechanism has double circular arc section for cam raceway. Due to this kind of cam raceway section the mechanism can realize approximate rolling transmission. According to rotary transform tensor theory profile surface equation of globoidal cam is established. Meshing equation is built through meshing theory, and profile surface equation is determined by meshing equation. Based on profile surface equation 3D geometric model for globoidal cam is established. MATLAB software is used to calculate three-dimensional coordinate points, these coordinate points are imported into Pro/E software, and finally 3D model for globoidal cam is established by three-dimensional modeling function of Pro/E software. Pressure angle equation of globoidal cam is also established. On the condition that the other parameters remain unchanged the variation law of values of pressure angle depended on cam angle and indexing plate rotary radius is obtained respectively.

Abstract: Flexible alumina (Al 2 O 3 )/carbon (C) composite nanofibers film has been fabricated via electrospinning, followed by pre-oxidation and carbonization. Polyacrylonitrile (PAN)/Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and aluminum hydroxyacetate (Al(OH)C 4 H 6 O 4 ) acted as carbon precursor and Al 2 O 3 precursor, respectively. The obtained Al 2 O 3 /C nanofibers films were systematically characterized by field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR), energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS), X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and flexural tests. The results indicated that Al 2 O 3 /C composite nanofibers with rough surface consisted of graphitic phase and γ-Al 2 O 3 phase. The Al 2 O 3 covering on the surface of nanofibers improved the flexibility of carbon nanofibers (CNFs) film. Moreover, with the amount of Al 2 O 3 increasing, both flexural rigidity and flexural modulus of Al 2 O 3 /C nanofibers film decreased drastically. In the other words, the flexibility of CNFs film improved greatly. The Al 2 O 3 /C nanofibers film with the mass ratio of Al(OH)C 4 H 6 O 4 : PAN being 4:1 exhibited flexural modulus that was about 11 times lower than that of CNFs film without Al 2 O 3 , suggesting that the highly flexible Al 2 O 3 /C nanofibers film was obtained.

Abstract: The problem of roll eccentricity has become one of important factors to affect the quality of strips as downstream industries require improvement of the strip quality. Reducing thickness control precision as little as possible is incompatible with restraining roll eccentricity perturbations on the requirement of the deadband size for the deadband drift method (DDM) with fixed deadband width. Therefore, the GM-AGC system in hot finishing mill of an aluminum plant uses the dynamic deadband eccentricity filter (DDEF) whose deadband width varies with the amplitude of the roll eccentricity signal. The operating principle of DDEF was introduced according to the characteristic of roll eccentricity signal. Based on the theory of DDEF, simulation was carried out. Comparing with DDM, the simulation result shows that DDEF can keep a balance between less lowering thickness control precision and restraining roll eccentricity perturbations on the requirement of the deadband size. Moreover, the deadband width of DDEF is capable to fit the variations in the frequency and amplitude of the synthetic roll eccentricity signal to restrain the misoperation of GM-AGC system.
