    Abstract: Recently, it is essential to enhance the value of the products to make them more competitive. Therefore, the technical level of the high-precision products is required. Thermal deformation error, which accounts for a significant effect of processing accuracy of machine tools. In order to reduce thermal deformation error such studies the thermal characteristics of the Hydrostatic spindle is required. In this study, we could confirm the reliability of the analysis by assessing the thermal characteristics through measurement of the grinding machine temperature and thermal structural analysis. The temperature of the front bearing 10 °C or more higher than the temperature of the rear bearing, thermal deformation of the spindle, was found to be dependent on the temperature of the hydrostatic bearing. And could identify the thermal characteristics of the hydrostatic spindle.

    Abstract: SiC materials have excellent high temperature strength, low coefficient of thermal expansion, good resistance to oxidation and good thermal and chemical stability etc. In this study, monolithic liquid phase sintered SiC (LPS-SiC) was made by hot pressing method with nano-SiC powder an average particle size is 30nm and less. Alumina (Al2O3), yttria (Y2O3) and silica (SiO2) particles were used for sintering additives. To investigate effects of SiO2, Al2O3/Y2O3 composition was fixed and then ratios of SiO2 were changed as seven kinds. Materials have been sintered for 1 hour at 1760, 1780 and 1800 under the pressure of 20MPa. The system of sintering additives which affects a property of sintering as well as the influence depending on compositions of sintering additives were investigated by measurement of density, mechanical properties such as Vickers hardness and sliding wear resistance were investigated to make sure of the optimum condition which is about matrix of SiCf/SiC composites. The abrasion test condition applies to load of 20N at 100rpm for 20min. Sintered density, abrasion property of fabricated LPS-SiC increased with increasing the sintering temperature. In case of LPS-SiC with low SiO2 content, has very excellent wear resistance.

    Abstract: Recently, the steel parts used at the aerospace and automobile industries are required to be used lightweight parts. Therefore, used material steel have to be a high stress, which is an indispensable condition in this field. At the consideration of parts design, high hardness of the lightweight parts have an benefit of saving fuel and material. A high stress of metal has a point of difference according to the shape of design, external cyclic load and condition of vibration. Fatigue failure phenomena, which happen in metal, bring on danger in human life and property. Therefore, antifatigue failure technology take an important part of current industries. Currently, the shot peening is used for removing the defect from the surface of steel and improving the fatigue strength on surface. Therefore, this paper was investigated the effect on fracture toughness using shot peening which is improve the resistance of crack growth and crack expansion rate by fatigue that make a compressive residual stress on surface.

Therefore, used material steel have to be a high stress, which is an indispensable condition in this field. At the consideration of parts design, high hardness of the lightweight parts has an benefit of saving fuel and material. In this study, the surface conditions are measured to know the influence on fatigue properties by shot peening. In this study, the optimum shot peening condition is investigated. Fatigue test was accomplished to investigate the effects of compressive residual stress by shot peening on fatigue characteristics. Test results show the fatigue characteristics were increased by optimum peening condition. But the fatigue characteristics were decreased by under peening or over peening condition.

    Abstract: Heave Compensation system minimizes vessel heave motion during drilling operation of drillship. Heave compensator plays a role as damping form heave motion of drillship such as principle spring of car suspension system. The load transfers on the parts of heave compensator. Stress and deformation of all parts is evaluated to diagnose the stability of the compensator. This study makes a decision on the safety of structure by ANSYS 12.0v workbench.

    Abstract: Carbon nano tube(CNT) possesses excellent electrical, mechanical and thermal properties. Therefore, it has been applied in a variety of fields. In this study, we added CNT in Al 2 O 3 to improve the characteristics. The composite of CNT(1.5 wt%), Al 2 O 3 (∅=20nm), zirconia(90g) and ethanol(20ml) is deconcentrated with planetary ball mill for 1hr, 3hr, 5hr under 200rpm, 300rpm, respectively. The prepared powder was pressed under 14MPa uniaxialy after the composite was dried in the oven at 90°C, and then the powder is pressed again by Cold Isostatic Press(CIP) with 200MPa. Then reinforced alumina matrix composites with CNT was sintered by high temperature furnace at 1525 °C

    Abstract: Small steel ball is utilized in Shot peening process. Called “shot ball” are shot in high speed on the surface of metal. When the shot ball hit the surface, it makes plastic deformation and bounce off, that increase the fatigue life by compressive residual stress on surface. In this study, the results of observation on the tensile strength, hardness, surface roughness, compressive residual stress and fatigue life of a shot peened Al6061-T651 were obtained. Experimental results show that arc height increase tremendously by shot velocity. Also, it shows that surface roughness, hardness, compressive residual stress and fatigue life increase as shot velocity increase.
