Abstract: Crack is a major defect of buildings. Digital image methods are often used to detect cracks. But incorrect or un-unique results may be inverted with an inappropriate algorithm. An image processing way is presented to obtain the sole width value. Meanwhile, the crack with several branches can be measured. In the processing, the crack skeleton is first calculated. Then each of the points on the skeleton is served as a center of a group of circles, one by one. The radius of the circles is increased step by step. The iterations will not stop until any point in the circle goes out of the crack. Thus the last circle in the iteration is served as an incircle of the crack. The diameter of the incircle is a crack width in a given skeleton point. The maximal and average width of the crack will be calculated after all the incircles with all the skeleton point are traversed. The experimental results show the proposed method can extract the width of cracks in a complex context.

Abstract: For the recovery of an plaintext with different levels of values encrypted by permutation-only multimedia ciphers, a L -ary based chosen text construction method is first proposed in this paper. And plaintexts are created to reach the lower bound of the plaintext number required for chosen plaintext attacks which is given by Li et al. Then based on the created plaintexts, two attacks are proposed on permutation-only image/video ciphers. Finally the validity of the two attacks is proved by Proposition 2 and Proposition 3 respectively.

Abstract: In steam injection wells, the temperature of heat steam is very high and casing is heated during steam injection process, which has become the main reason of casing damage. Therefore, finite element model is very important to analyze the thermal mechanical coupling and casing damage in steam injection wells. Three-dimensional finite element model is investigated; geometry model is constructed with native and parasolid method in ADINA. The casing is modeled by native method and strata are modeled by parasolid method, casing is subtracted and merged with strata by Boolean Operation. Comprehensive loads are defined in structure model, and temperature load in thermal model. In thermal model, all materials are treated as heat conduction material. Thermal-mechanical coupling and casing damage are calculated with finite element model of thermal-mechanical coupling. According to the calculating results, the mechanism of casing damage is analyzed. Finally, some advice is proposed to the protection of casing in steam injection wells.

Abstract: Rapid reduction roasting of low grade manganese carbonate ore by coal and biomass fuels from Hunan, China was investigated. Magnetic separation behaviors and magnetic properties of raw manganese ore and roasted manganese ores were analyzed. After reduction by coal and biomass fuels, the manganese ores demonstrate a new Mn-Fe oxide phase, showing obvious mixed magnetic behaviors of ferromagnet and paramagnet, and the magnetic susceptibilities of roasting ores rapidly increase to almost two orders of magnitude in comparison of the raw ores. The results show that magnetizing roasting technology could enhanced the magnetic properties of the manganese ores about two orders of magnitude higher than raw manganese ore at low roasting temperature. Thereby, we deduce that the weak magnetic separation combined with high magnetic separation could be adequate for roasted manganese ore to satisfy the requirement of electrolytic manganese industry. Application of biomass in manganese ore roasting process is promising to the effective use of biomass and for decreasing the consumption of fossil fuels in the manganese industry.

Abstract: The cold flow properties of rapeseed-based biodiesel (RME) were studied by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), multifunctional low temperature tester and thermal analysis. Two approaches for reducing cold filter plugging point (CFPP) of RME were investigated: blending with winter petrodiesel, treating with cold flow improver (CFI) additives and the effect of CFI to combustion characteristics of RME. A good correlation model was proposed for prediction CFPP by RME blending ratio. The study shows that the RME was mainly composed of fatty acid methyl esters (FAME): C 14:0 –C 24:0 , C 16:1 –C 22:1 , C 18:2 and C 18:3 . The mass fraction of saturated fatty acid methyl esters (SFAME) and unsaturated fatty acid methyl esters (UFAME) was 14.69% and 83.40%, respectively. The CFPP of RME was -7 °C. Blending with -10 petrodiesel (-10PD) decreased the CFPP to -12 °C. Treating with CFI additives (volume fraction ≤ 1.5%) decreased the CFPP of RME and RME/-10PD to -11 and -28 °C, respectively. Small amount of CFI additives hardly affected combustion characteristics of biodiesel. This study has effectively improved cold flow properties of biodiesel and provided guide for using biodiesel at low temperatures.

Abstract: Thermal analysis has been employed to yield information on the volatility of the biodiesel/petrodiesel since the volatility influences the ignition quality of the fuels in a compression ignition engine. The chemical composition of -10 petrodiesel (-10PD) and soybean biodiesel (SME) was analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The thermal volatilization of biodiesel and its blends was investigated by thermogravimetry and liquid volatile theory. Volatile index was put forward for describing biodiesel/petrodisel volatility. A good correlation model was proposed for calculate the biodiesel/petrodiesel volatility by biodiesel blending ratio. The study showed that -10PD was mainly composed of long chain alkanes: C8–C26. SME was mainly composed of long chain fatty acid methyl esters: C14:0–C24:0, C16:1–C22:1, C18:2 and C18:3. The volatile indexes of SME and -10PD were, respectively, 1.74E-04 and 3.64E-05. The biodiesel fuel was considerably more volatile in comparison to the petrodiesel fuels. The SME/-10PD volatility had relation to SEM blending ratio, it was better with increasing the SME blending ratio.
