Abstract: This paper examined the critical loading condition of a light sport aircrafts main landing gear during the impact loading condition. The new category airplane was established by the FAA in 2004. The light sport aircraft has great market demand for personnel entertainment purpose and regional transportation. The main object of this research was to establish a static and dynamic loading simulation model for the aluminum alloy landing gear of a light sport aircraft. This work also examined the critical loading parameters of the main landing gear, including the maximum take-off weight and maximum stall speed. The analysis was performed using ANSYS and LS-DYNA to establish the finite element model after simplifying the geometric characteristics and verifying the results by energy conservation, hourglass energy, and sliding energy. The study tested aluminum plates with a thickness from 15~25 mm. The results showed all the samples could sustain the required loading condition, except for the thickness of 15mm that failed under impact loading. The simulation model provides a cost-saving process compared to a real crashworthiness drop test to test the main landing gears compliance with regulations.

Abstract: The specific time-area values describe the circulating ability of two-stroke engine ports during the gas exchange process, so they are the main parameters to affect the engine performances [1]. This paper establishes mathematical models of port parameters for symmetrically timing ports of two-stroke gasoline engine with carburetor and crankcase loop scavenging, the emphasis of analysis is specific time-area values of the ports. The mathematical models of specific time-area values which introduced in this paper give the initiative for further research on the numerical simulation and the optimal design of two-stroke engine.

Abstract: The microstructural evolution was investigated during partial remelting of 6061 aluminum bulk alloy prepared by cold-pressing of atomized alloy powders. Meanwhile, the effect of heating temperature on semisolid microstructure was also studied. It was found that after partial remelted, a semisolid microstructure with small and nearly spherical particles can be obtained. The microstructural evolution can be divided into three stages: the rapid coarsening of grains and powders, the structure separation and spheroidization of powders, and the final coarsening behavior of primary particles. For most of the primary particles (larger than 10 μm) in the semisolid state, one particle originates from one original powder in the cold-pressed bulk alloy. Furthermore, proper elevated the heating temperature is beneficial to obtain ideal semisolid microstructure.

Abstract: The influence of Y on the microstructure and damping capacity of AZ91D based alloys was investigated by optical microscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and dynamic mechanical analysis. The results show that, with increasing Y content, the grain size of α-Mg matrix decreases tremendously and the distribution of β-Mg17Al12 phase is transformed from discontinuous network to fine particles. Meanwhile, a needle-shaped Al4MgY phase mainly distributing at the grain boundaries is identified. The damping capacity of the studied alloys shows sustained enhancement with increasing temperature. As to the strain dependent damping capacity, with the increase of Y content, the damping value of AZ91D alloy decreases gradually before Y content reaches to 0.5wt.%, and fluctuates when Y addition is between 0.5wt.%~0.9wt.%. G-L dislocation model was employed to explain the effects of parameters on damping capacity of magnesium alloy.

Abstract: Metal cutting operations constitute a large percentage of the manufacturing activity. One of the most important objectives of metal cutting research is to develop techniques that enable optimal utilization of machine tools, improved production efficiency, high machining accuracy and reduced machine downtime and tooling costs. Machining process condition monitoring is certainly the important monitoring requirement of unintended machining operations. A multi-purpose intelligent tool condition monitoring technique for metal cutting process will be introduced in this paper. The knowledge based intelligent pattern recognition algorithm is mainly composed of a fuzzy feature filter and algebraic neurofuzzy networks. It can carry out the fusion of multi-sensor information to enable the proposed intelligent architecture to recognize the tool condition successfully.

Abstract: By means of SEM, TEM, UV-VIS optical transmission spectra and photoluminescence spectra tests, hetero-epitaxial defects and optical characteristics of SiCGe layers grown on 6H-SiC substrate were studied. SEM and TEM images have shown that the SiCGe were grown in layer-by-layer mode with APD and DPB defects which were caused by the thermal and lattice mismatches between SiCGe and SiC. Transmission spectra results have shown the calculated band gap of the SiCGe layer was 2.31eV. Room temperature photoluminescence spectra have shown that the peak wavelength and the FWHM of SiCGe layer were closely related to its Ge contents and the hetero-epitaxial defects.

Abstract: To increase the mechanical properties of PLA used for fracture inner fixation, β-calcium metaphosphate whiskers were prepared by controlled crystallization in the glass. The factors influencing the morphology of the samples, such as component, time and temperature of crystallization were discussed. Results showed that the high quality of β-calcium metaphosphate whiskers can be obtained by crystallization treating for 36 hours and washing for 48 hours at 80°C distilled water. β-calcium metaphosphate whiskers having high aspect ratios of 20-100 with diameters of 1-5μm were achieved at the optimized conditions.

Abstract: 2nd order implicit format is implemented in the Navier-Stokes code to deal with instantaneous item unsteady flows. Three simulations are made to testify the method on flow control. First, the external flow fields of synthetic jets are simulated, the mean velocity on the center line, the jet width and velocity distribution are compared well with experimental results. Secondly, the flow fields of synthetic jet in a crossflow are simulated, orifice slot, the mean velocity on the center line and velocity distribution are compared well with experimental results. Finally, the flow control experiments on separation of airfoil are simulated, control methods include steady suction and synthetic jets. Both methods show their ability to favorably effect the flow separation, shortening the length of separation bubble and improving the pressure levels in separation areas in different degrees.

Abstract: The surface water of Sanjiang Plain generally contained 0.04 to 2.50 mg L -1 of dissolved Fe ion, while the groundwater contained 0.03 to 21.00 mg L -1 , which is relative high in comparison with other regions. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of dissolved Fe in the irrigation water on the adsorption of ammonium. Soil samples were collected from topsoil of a paddy field. Fe 2+ concentration in either surface water (0.70 mg L -1 ) or groundwater (15.0 mg L -1 ) were simulated to employ batch experiments in lab. The results show that when Fe 2+ concentration was 0.70 mg L -1 , it might slightly increase ammonium adsorption on the albic black soil. However, when Fe 2+ concentration increased to 15.0 mg L -1 , it may increase or decrease ammonium adsorption on the albic albic black soil, depending on ammonium concentration in the soil solution. In details, ammonium adsorption capacity decreased when ammonium concentration is less than 30.77 mg L -1 , while increased when it’s more than 30.77mg L -1 . Long-term irrigated soils with groundwater might increase content of iron oxides in the paddy soils and thus increase ammonium adsorption capacity. However, Fe 2+ in the irrigating water might also lead to desorption and leaching of ammonium in each flooding event.
