Abstract: Femtosecond laser (FS-laser) microstructuring of metals has become a promising tool because of its non-contact nature, which allows the micromachining and direct processing of materials with a minimized volume of heat-affected zone for electro-optics applications such as light emitting diodes (LED) and solar photovoltaic (PV) lighting. This study presents ultra-short pulse (10 -15 sec) FS-laser processing. Through integrating the laser source, optical system and dynamic control modules, the materials of metals with micro-scale or nanoscale structures can be fabricated. In traditional processing such as semiconductor processing, development, exposure and etching necessitate expensive equipment and time-consuming tasks. With FS-laser processing, high-precision patterns are obtained, which will be a great benefit to keeping costs down. In this study, the wavelengths of FS-laser ablation are employed using visible and infrared light. To make a breakthrough in electro-optics processes, the CIGS thin-film of solar cells in metal process can be easily produced by the FS-laser. The ablation speed of the FS-laser for thin film layer CIGS solar cells can reach 2000 mm/s which is faster than the current Nd:YAG laser machine (~1000 mm/s). On the other hand, the minimum size of metal lines can be controlled to a value that is lower than 40 µm. Furthermore, green energy can be effectively developed for the future.

Abstract: The stacking fault substructure was observed in the quenched martensite of 35CrMo, 2Cr13 and W6Mo5Cr4V2 steels by JEM-2100 transmission electron microscope. It is significant theoretically to discovery the stacking fault substructure and then to study its formation mechanism. The results show that the stacking faults in the martensite of steels are superfine with a few nanometers spacings, which are often concomitant with the high-density dislocations. It is considered that the stacking fault results from the crystal lattice misarrangement during the crystal lattice reconstruction from austenite to martensite in steels. The shear mechanism cannot explain the formation of the stacking fault.

Abstract: A kind of severe deformation method for refined grain materials named continuous variable cross-section recycled extrusion (CVCE) was proposed. The composition structure and working principle of processing were introduced. First, the cylinder specimen was extruded to circular cone and then the circular cone specimen was compressed into columned one. After that, the specimen was rotated by 180° and repeated the forward procedure. All of procedures mentioned above constitute a cycle. The whole process is repeated again and again. The process can introduce ultra-high plastic strain without any geometrical change. The process has been applied to commercial aluminum (1100), Mg alloy. After several cycles of CVCE, bulk materials with sub-micron grain structure were successfully obtained. The average grain size of AZ31 magnesium alloy is refined from 25μm to 3μm after six cycles and the tensile elongation were improved dramatically.

Abstract: It is significant theoretically to study the nucleation laws of the phase transformation products of the supercooled austenite. The different iron and steel materials were used to study the nucleation of pearlite, bainite and martensite by QUANTA-400 environmental scanning electron microscope and JEM-2100 transmission electron microscope. The results show that, from the high-temperature zone to the low-temperature zone, the nucleation of the transformation products of the supercooled austenite is a gradually evolutionary process from two-phase nucleation to single-phase nucleation. Pearlite nucleates in the austenitic grain boundary, bainite nucleates preferentially in the grain boundary and sometimes in the grain interior and martensite nucleates preferentially in the interface and generally in the grain interior. The preferential nucleation sites are the interface, and with the decrease of the transformation temperature, they gradually shift to the defects in the grain interiors, which accord with the general rules of the phase transformation nucleation.

Abstract: In this study, the brand name 35CS300 and 50CS400 electromagnetic steel with tensile and high cycle fatigue properties were investigated. The specimens were prepared in rolling and transverse directions. In the first, the material basic properties were built from tensile test. The high cycle fatigue was performed under stress ratio 0.1 and two sampling direction. The tensile result showed that the specimens in rolling direction (L) are slight greater than in transverse direction (T). About the fatigue test results, the 35CS300 and 50CS400 sampling direction had less effect in fatigue limit. The fracture mechanism was showed that 35CS300 has void and brush like pull out under ductile failure. But the results showed in the 50CS400 specimens had splitting fracture surface with brittle fractograph. The electromagnetic steel surface of the insulating layer under dynamic fatigue loading would cause fragmentation; if the electromagnetic steel for long-term use will reduce the efficiency.

Abstract: Extraction of vanadium has been developed to extract vanadium from hydrochloric solutions with high concentration of iron ions. The effects of extraction conditions such as pH values, extraction time and extraction temperature on the distribution ratio of vanadium were investigated. The results showed that the distribution ratio of vanadium increased with the higher pH, the lower temperature and the longer equilibrium time. The distribution ratio reached 25 and the extraction ratio reached 96.2% by single stage extraction. When the organic phase was stripped with 2 mol/L hydrochloric acid at the phase ratio (O/A) 10:1, the vanadium stripping ratio of 98.3% could be achieved.

Abstract: In classical harmony search algorithm, only one harmony vector is obtained in each of iteration, which affects its search ability. We propose an improve harmony search algorithm in this paper. In our approach, the number of harmony vectors obtained in each of iteration is equivalent to the population size, and all newly generated harmony vectors are put into the harmony memory array. Then, all harmony vectors are sorted by descending order of the fitness, and the first half individuals are served as the next generation of populations. Experimental results show that our approach is obviously superior to the classical one under the same iteration steps and the same running time, which reveals that our approach can effectively generate the excellent individuals approximating the global optimal solution and enhance the optimization ability of classical harmony search algorithm.

Abstract: Cloth media filter was applied in the treatment of the effluent of a municipal wastewater plant through pilot scale test for water reuse. Ferric chloride (FeCl3), PAFC and polyaluminum chloride (PAC) were employed as coagulants respectively to carry out the test. The average removal efficiency of TP and CODCr was 28.76% and 8% after cloth media filter without coagulation, and TP removal was influenced by the influent water quality. However, precoagulation with coagulants of ferric chloride, PAFC, PAC, the average removal efficiency of TP was 63.58%, 60.13%, 66.94% respectively, and no influence of TP removal can be found by the influent water quality. The average removal efficiency of CODCr was increased to 17.7%、26.3% and 27.7%,SS was 70.7%、64.3% and 49.1%. TN and NH3-N were removed unstably after cloth media filter.
