Notes: Abstract The isochoric pressure of bcc Solid3He in the vicinity of the triple point has been measured by changing the temperature stepwisely and waiting for thermal equilibrium. We observed anomalous pressure kinks of the temperature dependence in the paramagnetic region near the triple point. This anomaly appeared at 0.37 to 0.40 tesla, and disappeared below 0.36 tesla. Moreover, critical phenomena at the transition point from the paramagnetic phase (PP) to the high field phase was observed and the phase line curves toward the PP side.

Notes: Abstract The ac magnetic susceptibility of UPd2Al3 in the superconducting state has been measured to test of the existence of the Fulde, Ferrell, Larkin and Ovchinnikov (FFLO) state. A dip in the susceptibility has been observed in the vicinity of the upper critical field and the temperature range from zero to Tc. This dip is very sensitive to the amplitude of the ac magnetic field. The anomaly is explained by the increase of the flux pinning effect. Recent theories suggest that the pinning force becomes stronger in the FFLO state, and the existence of the nonuniform state due to the order parameter mixing in a d-wave superconductor is possible near Tc.

Notes: The specific heat of the orthorhombically distorted α-ThSi2-type La-Ge intermetallic compound system has been measured in the temperature range 0.07 ⩽ T⩽ 10 K. An anomalous behavior of the lattice part of the specific heat has been discovered. The specific heat data are analyzed and discussions are given, with particular attention to the superlattice structure observed in these compounds.

Notes: Abstract The mean free path effects in superfluid He II was studied with a vibrating wire method in the temperature range from Tλ down to 20 mK under the saturated vapour pressure. The transition from the hydrodynamic regime to the ballistic regime was clearly observed at around 0.7 K with a 47 µm diameter wire. In the hydrodynamic regime the usual Stokes' approximation was found to be insufficient to interpret the results. In the ballistic regime the results can be explained quantitatively with the kinetic theory of phonons. However, below about 0.15 K there appear non-linear effects such as the distortion of the resonance line shape and a hysteresis behavior, which become stronger with decreasing temperature.
