    Dynamical phase transition in two-dimensional fully frustrated Josephson junction arrays with resistively shunted junction dynamics (2003)

    Notes: Abstract. The dynamical phase transitions in two-dimensional fully frustrated Josephson junction arrays at zero temperature are investigated numerically with the resistively shunted junction model through the fluctuating twist boundary condition. The model is subjected to a driving current with nonzero orthogonal components i x , i y parallel to both axes of the square lattice. We find a roughly lattice size independent phase diagram with three dynamical phases: a pinned vortex lattice phase, a moving vortex lattice phase and a moving plastic phase. The phase diagram shows a direct transition from the pinned vortex to the moving vortex phase and the separation of the pinned vortex and the moving plastic phases. The time-dependent voltages v x and v y are periodic in the moving vortex lattice phase. But they are aperiodic in the moving plastic phase, resulting in non-monotonic characteristics and hysteresis in the current-voltage curves. It is found that the characteristic frequency is twice the time-averaged voltage in the moving vortex phase and around the time-averaged voltage in the plastic flow regime.

    Notes: Abstract: The general properties of one-dimensional large Fröhlich polarons in motion are investigated with the previous extended coherent states where two-phonon correlations are considered. As a result, the polaron energy, velocity, effective mass, and average number of virtual phonons as a function the polaron total momentum are evaluated in a wide range of the coupling constant. In addition, rich information about virtual phonons emitted by the electron in motion is obtained. More importantly, some intrinsic features of 1D moving polarons are presented for the first time, which may also be suited to moving polarons in more than one dimensions.

    Notes: Abstract We discuss analytically the vacuum structure and chiral-symmetry breaking in 1+1 dimensional lattice QCD with naive and Wilson fermions, using a unitary transformation and the variational method developed recently. As an example, the chiral order parameter is evaluated systematically for any coupling constant and fermion mass by including the multilink-terms in the transformation. The expected scaling behavior is observed. Our results are consistent with the continuum predictions.

    Notes: Abstract The influence of fluid flow on electrode-shape change that results from electrodeposition in the presence of a model, levelling agent is simulated and discussed. The treatment is more rigorous than past studies in that flow and concentration fields are recalculated as the electrode shape changes. It is shown that uncertainties due to approximate treatments of fluid flow may be as significant as existing discrepancies between experiment and theory. A numerical algorithm necessary to minimize errors associated with automatic grid generation is discussed.

Dieses konnte als 1,2-bis-(Dipyrrinon-9-yliden)-ethan identifiziert werden, welches ein Beispiel für die bislang nicht bekannten Dehydro-b-homoverdine darstellt. Darüber hinaus konnte dabei auch aus der Reaktionsmischung das entsprechende Mesobiliverdin-XIIIα isoliert werden. Die mechanistischen Aspekte der Bildungsreaktion werden diskutiert. Absorptionsspektren, Protonierungsgleichgewichte und die Komplexierung mit Übergangsmetallionen wurden untersucht.
    Notes: Summary Condensation of a 9-unsubstituted dipyrrinone with glyoxal in dichloromethane yielded a red pigment. It could be identified as 1,2-bis-(dipyrrinon-9-ylidene)-ethane which is an example of the hitherto unknown dehydro-b-homo-verdins. In addition, the corresponding mesobiliverdin-XIIIα could be isolated from the reaction mixture. The mechanistic aspects of this reaction are discussed. Absorption spectra, protonation equilibria, and complexation of the title compound with transition metal ions were investigated.

Kondensation des Letzteren mit Dimedon oder Quadratsäure lieferte vinyloge Pigmente, welche in ihren konfigurationellen und konformationellen Freiheiten eingeschränkt sind. Die chemischen und spektroskopischen Eigenschaften dieser neuen Systeme werden diskutiert.
    Notes: Summary 1-(Dipyrrinon-9-yl)-3-(dipyrrinon-9-ylidene)-propene, ab-vinylogous verdin, was synthesized by condensation of 3-(dipyrrinon-9-yl)-propenal with a dipyrrinone unsubstituted in position 9. By condensing the latter with dimedone or squaric acid,b-vinylogous verdin pigments with restricted configurational and conformational degrees of freedom were obtained. The chemical and spectroscopic properties of these novel systems are discussed.

Die Ausbeuten betrugen im ersten Fall um 30–40% und erreichten im zweiten Fall 80%.
    Notes: Summary 1,2-bis-Pyrrolylethanes are potential synthesis precursors ofb-homorubins. They were synthesized in two ways: by self coupling of a 5-halomethylpyrrole using VCl3/LiAlH4 or by the reduction of 1,2-bis-pyrrolylethenes using Mg-MeOH/Pd-C as catalyst. The yields were 30–40% for the first method and reached 80% for the second one.
