Abstract: The pressure distribution of conformal contact in spherical plain bearings is studied adopting both theoretical methods and finite element simulations. The effects of normal loads and friction coefficients on the distribution of both axial and circumferential contact stress are investigated. The results show that the circumferential stress can be exactly described with the complete spherical conformal contact theory while the axial one presents strong free-edge effects, mainly caused by the compressive strain. In addition, the distribution of contact stress tends to be uniform with the increase of the load and the friction coefficient, referring to a decrease of contact pressure in the central region and a rise on both edges of the outer ring, which can be attributed to the obstruction effects of friction on the deformation of bearings and the corresponding alteration of contact area.

Abstract: This paper provides a basis for understanding recent grassland polices in China and their backgrounds. First, the characteristics and importance of China's grasslands are described briefly. Next, the trends and causes of grassland degradation and desertification are presented. In the main part of the paper, recent key grassland policies and practices adopted by the Chinese government to overcome the environmental crisis are summarized. In conclusion, grassland construction and protection will become the main element of grassland practices over the long term, and grasslands will increasingly be managed more for environmental and ecological services rather than for livestock production.

Abstract: Establishing a new bio-mathematical model, named quantitative LQ-based (qLQB) model, that can evaluate the radio-toxicity of lung. We assume that each Function Subunit (FSU) of lung is equal and representative in functional status. Based on the Linear-Quadratic model (LQ model), we had derived a model to calculate the ratio/percent (R/P) between damaged cell/FSU and entire cell/FSU of lung for radiation dose response. We can analyse radiation pneumonia probability (RPP) based on the R/P. Forty-five 3D plans from forty-five randomly selected lung cancer patients were generated using the ELEKTA precise 2.12 treatment planning system. The qLQB was tested against the widely used Lyman-Kutcher-Burman model (LKB model). There was no distinct statistical difference in analyzing RPP between using the qLQB model and the LKB model ( p = 0.412). The proposed qLQB model was found to be efficient and reliable for analyzing RPP.

Abstract: This paper presents a longitudinal trajectory tracking scheme with [Formula: see text] adaptive control for hypersonic reentry vehicles (HRVs). A linear time-varying (LTV) multiple input multiple output (MIMO) model, in which influences of lateral states, earth rotation, and linearization are considered as model uncertainties, is derived based on state and input errors of longitudinal model. The normalization of error model is used to reduce differences of magnitude orders in state and input matrix elements which may affect the stability of [Formula: see text] adaptive controller. In order to achieve an accurate tracking performance, a linear quadratic regulator (LQR) controller is employed as the baseline controller, augmented with an [Formula: see text] adaptive controller to attenuate the matched and unmatched uncertainties. Based on the augmented controller, the optimization process is executed with the estimate of uncertainties at the same time. The simulation results of LQR controller, [Formula: see text] augmentation controller and robust [Formula: see text] controller show that the [Formula: see text] adaptive control method can reduce the terminal and integral of squared state errors validly. Terminal state errors in all simulation scenarios are less than 2.5m/s, 1e-3 and 10m, respectively, which reflects its effectiveness in increasing robustness of baseline controller.

Abstract: To explore the effects of tibial osteotomy varus angle combined with posterior tibial slope (PTS) on the stress of polyethylene liner in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) by building finite element model (FEM). Methods Established the FEM of standard TKA with tibial osteotomy varus angle 0° to 9° were established and divided into 10 groups. Next, each group was created 10 FEMs with 0° to 9° PTS separately. Calculated the stress on polyethylene liner in each group in Abaqus. Finally, the relevancy between tibial osteotomy angle and polyethylene liner stress was statistically analyzed using multiple regression analysis. Results As the varus angle increased, the area of maximum stress gradually shifted medially on the polyethylene liner. As the PTS increases, the percentage of surface contact forces on the medial and lateral compartmental of the polyethylene liner gradually converge to the same. When the varus angle is between 0° and 3°, the maximum stress of the medial compartmental surfaces of polyethylene liner rises smoothly with the increase of the PTS. When the varus angle is between 4° and 9°, as the increase of the PTS, the maximum stress of polyethylene liner rises first and then falls, forming a trough at PTS 5° and then rises again. Compared to the PTS, the varus angle has a large effect on the maximum stress of the polyethylene liner ( p 〈 .001). Conclusion When the varus angle is 0° to 3°, PTS 0° is recommended, which will result in a more equalized stress distribution of the polyethylene liner in TKA.

Abstract: Soil microplastic pollution is currently a worldwide concern. Microplastics are organic pollutants that are abundant in the natural environment, are persistent and difficult to degrade and may endanger human health while harming the environment. This article offers a bibliometric analysis of the environmental behaviour of microplastics in soils, as well as a thorough statistical analysis of research goals and trends in this field. We conducted a thorough search of all relevant literature from 2012 to 2022 in the Web of Science core database. The data analysis shows that, starting in 2012, there has been an upward trend in the number of articles about soil microplastic pollution. It can also be seen that China is relatively ahead of the curve in this area of research, followed by the United Kingdom and the United States. This article also systematically describes the research hotspots in this field. The results show that the current research on soil microplastics is mainly focused on their identification, enrichment and toxicity, whereas studies on the migration and transformation of soil microplastics and the mechanism of interaction with other pollutants are still lacking. Our results provide ideas and prospects for future research in this field.

Abstract: Seizures are a common symptom of craniocerebral diseases, and epilepsy is one of the comorbidities of craniocerebral diseases. However, how to rationally use anti-seizure medications (ASMs) in the perioperative period of craniocerebral surgery to control or avoid seizures and reduce their associated harm is a problem. The China Association Against Epilepsy (CAAE) united with the Trauma Group of the Chinese Neurosurgery Society, Glioma Professional Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, Neuro-Oncology Branch of the Chinese Neuroscience Society, and Neurotraumatic Group of Chinese Trauma Society, and selected experts for consultancy regarding outcomes from evidence-based medicine in domestic and foreign literature. These experts referred to the existing research evidence, drug characteristics, Chinese FDA-approved indications, and expert experience, and finished the current guideline on the application of ASMs during the perioperative period of craniocerebral surgery, aiming to guide relevant clinical practice. This guideline consists of six sections: application scope of guideline, concepts of craniocerebral surgery-related seizures and epilepsy, postoperative application of ASMs in patients without seizures before surgery, application of ASMs in patients with seizures associated with lesions before surgery, emergency treatment of postoperative seizures, and 16 recommendations.

Abstract: At present, the traction force and traction speed of the drilling robot cannot be controlled. However, if the speed of the drilling robot is too high, the bit will be damaged because of the shock load. If the speed of the drilling robot is too low, the drilling efficiency will be very low. The existing control system and control algorithm of the drilling robot cannot meet the requirements of the drilling conditions. A control system of the weight on bit and the rate of penetration of the drilling robot was invented. On the basis, a dual-loop fuzzy proportional integral derivative (PID) control algorithm of the pressure difference and flow rate was proposed to control the weight on bit and rate of penetration. Furthermore, the simulation model of the dual-loop fuzzy PID control algorithm was established. It is found that the proposed dual-loop fuzzy PID control algorithm has the characteristics of small overshoot and good tracking. Furthermore, the correctness of the theory was verified by the experiments. The experiments show that the average amplitude of rate of penetration vibration by using adaptive PID controller is less than 50% of that of PID controller. The maximum weight on bit with the adaptive PID controller is only 45.94% of that of the conventional PID controller. The overshoot of the adaptive PID controller is only 24.07% of that of the conventional PID controller. At the same time, the vibration amplitude of the conventional PID controller is obviously larger than that of the adaptive PID controller. The proposed adaptive PID controller in this paper can effectively reduce the vibration of the bit. By reducing the vibration of the bit, the life of the bit can be extended. Finally, it is of great significance to realize the efficient and intelligent drilling process.

Abstract: The sealing performance will directly affect the operation of downhole robot under HTHP condition. Traditional analysis methods of sealing performance are that the temperature and pressure is loaded respectively. This can not really evaluate the sealing performance. Besides, the simulation process is: Step 1: pre-compress O-ring to produce contact force. According to the contact pressure, select the compression ratio to calculate the displacement of the slip ring. Step 2: load fluid pressure on the O-ring. This simulation method is to directly load pressure on the undeformed O-ring. However, the O-ring will deform after pre-compression. Therefore, this simulation method is not accurate. In order to make the simulation data more accurate, calculate the data of shape, stress, and strain of O-ring caused by pre-compression caused by assembly. Then, import the deformation body containing the real data of shape, stress, and strain into a new model. On the basis, establish the numerical simulation model of piston, piston guide rod, O-ring, and FTS-ring with HTHP loads is. Finally, calculate and analyze. When the compression ratio of the O-ring is about 14%, the sealing performance is good. What’s more, the distribution of contact stress and Von Mises of the O-ring at 8.3 mm/s of motion speed are analyzed. The results show that the foot shaped combined sealing structure can keep a good dynamic sealing performance under HTHP condition. This paper provides a theoretical basis for the analysis of the dynamic sealing performance by using HTHP coupling method. In the analysis of sealing performance: the hydraulic pressure is loaded to the real model with the real shape, stress, and strain produced by the O-ring assembly. This can more accurately evaluate the sealing performance under HTHP condition. It also provides a reference for the dynamic sealing structure design of downhole tools.

Abstract: To investigate the effect of drug treatment combined with interventional cavity therapy for cavitary pulmonary tuberculosis. Methods One-hundred thirty patients who underwent transbronchial tuberculosis cavity plugging (TTCP) combined with drug therapy from 2012 to 2018 were selected as the observation group, and 130 patients with cavitary tuberculosis who underwent treatment with drugs only were selected as the control group. Changes in cavity size and sputum tests were compared between the two groups. In addition, adverse reactions were monitored. Results The number of cases with cavity closure was significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group at different time points. The number and proportion of negative sputum samples in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group. The treatment success rate was 98.46% in the observation group and 92.3% in the control group. No recurrence was observed in the observation group, and 8.3% of cases in the control group showed recurrence. Conclusions TTCP for the treatment of cavity tuberculosis showed good outcomes, with limited side effects and minimal complications.
