Abstract:
It is already known that the heat of dilution of a system can be derived from the temperature coefficient of the osmotic pressure. This method is an example of the indirect method supplementing direct calorimetric measurements which have been carried to a high degree of perfection by Swietoslawski. The present brief work is dedicated to this master of calorimetric research. It may be in keeping with the present work first of all to review the theoretical principles of the indirect method. The equation relating heat content to the temperature coefficient of free energy can be expressed thus:
