Abstract: Metallic nanorods/nanowires have recently become the focus of intensive research due to their unique properties and have been used to fabricate electronic, energy devices and sensors in nanoscale. In this study, tin nanorods were synthesized through a surfactant assisted chemical reduction method in aqueous solutions at low temperature (~ 0 oC). Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and sodium borohydride (NaBH4) were used as the surfactant and reductant, respectively. Parameters such as pH, surfactant concentration, and temperature were studied to control the diameter and length of the nanorods formed. The structure, composition and surface morphology of the obtained products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results showed that the morphology as well as the aspect ratio of tin nanorods could be effectively controlled by adjusting the parameters of the synthesis process. It was found that tin nanoparticles were formed at 30 oC while nanorods appeared at lower temperatures (0, 5 oC). A low SDS concentration of 4 mM helped to form Sn nanoparticles but higher SDS concentrations of 8, 12 mM facilitated the growth of nanorods. The increase of SDS concentration reduced the length of nanorods. pH values less than 4.5 were found to be favorable to the formation of nanorods.

Abstract: In this paper, we present the effect of Cobalt (Co) addition on the crystallization, microstructures and magnetic properties of Mn55-xCoxBi45 (x = 0, 5, 10, 20) melt – spun ribbons. The ribbons were prepared by the melt-spinning techique and subsequent anneal at 280 oC for 5 h. The investigations by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) traces as well the Vibration Sample Magnetometer  (VSM) measurements result in the optimal content of Co added to the MnBi system is arounf 5 %at. The larger Co content causes the eutectic Mn-Co formation which restricts the reaction between Mn and Bi to form MnBi ferromagnetic phase responsible for ribbons’ performance the saturation magnetization Ms. The maximum saturation magnetization Ms of 65emu/g and the coercivity iHc of 4.7 kOe was achived for the ribbon of Mn50Co5Bi45. The effect of Co content on the microstructures and magnetic properties of  Mn55-xCoxBi45 melt – spun ribbons will be discussed in detail.

Abstract: This study was designed to evaluate the effects of astaxanthin in broodfish diets on reproductive performance, egg quality and larvae quality parameters of clownfish (Amphirion ocellaris). Five treatments were tested with 5 levels of astaxanthin (Carophyll Pink 10% CWS) of 0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 mg/kg added to the feed. Each treatment was repeated in triplicate and the supplemental feeding trials were arranged for 13 months. The results showed that there were significant differences in hatching rate of egg, malformed rate and survival rate of larvae in 3 days post-hatch (p 〈 0.05) among the feeding trials of astaxanthin supplements. The highest hatching rate of egg and survival rate and the lowest malformed rate of larvae were observed in the treatment that was supplemented with astaxanthin 150 mg/kg feed, respectively 92.14 %; 93.57 % and 0.55 %. However, the astaxanthin supplementary diets did not affect the re-maturation and spawning period, spawning frequency, fecundity, egg diameter and larval size of nemo fish among the treatments. The results also suggested that astaxanthin requirement for clownfish broodstock to improve reproductive performance was 150 mg/kg feed.

Abstract: This paper presents the modeled results of general current pattern (daily average value) in Northern Central Vietnam Coast (Ha Tinh - Thua Thien-Hue) during April 2016. Study results show that in general, current flowed from the North to the South with small and instable velocity (V ≈ 0.1 - 0.2 m/s). From 2nd to 6th April current flowed from the South to the North. From 7th to 29th April current flowed from the North to the South. During 13rd to 16th April current velocity was weak (V ≤ 0.1 m/s). In the southern region of Thua Thien-Hue province, the direction of current was instable (from 6th to 9th and from 20th to 22nd April current flowed from the South to the North). Current distribution pattern from modeled results was in accordance with the propagation characteristics of surface water temperatures in the studied area through data analysis of satellite images.

Abstract: Aquaculture in the coastal zone has contributed significantly to economic development in Giao Thuy district, Nam Dinh province. Therefore, water quality for aquaculture plays a vital role in sustainable aquaculture production. In this paper, iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) concentrations in aquaculture coastal water of Giao Thuy district were analyzed during the rainy season (September 2017, August 2018) and dry season at low tide. The results showed that Fe concentration varied from 0.09 mg/L (at VT5) to 2.42 mg/L (at VT4), averaging 1.12 ± 0.71 mg/L, which exceeded the critical value of the national technical regulation on marine water quality in Vietnam for coastal aquaculture water (QCVN 10:2015/BTNMT) from 1.5 times (at VT4) to 3.0 times (at VT1). Mn concentrations ranged from 0.02 mg/L (at VT9) to 0.10 mg/L (at VT1), averaging 0.05 ± 0.02 mg/L, which was lower than the critical value in the QCVN 10:2015/BTNMT. The results showed that no apparent seasonal variation was observed for both Fe and Mn concentrations. In the dry season, the Fe and Mn concentrations averaged 1.10 mg/L and 0.05 mg/L respectively, whereas they were 1.15 mg/L and 0.05 mg/L in the rainy season. The monitoring results showed that Fe was polluted in the study area and may affect aquaculture productivity. Therefore, helpful measures should be taken to minimize Fe pollution to protect water quality and develop sustainable aquaculture in Giao Thuy district, Nam Dinh province.

Abstract: In this paper, our aim was to examine the role of ENSO in the recent climate variations. Analyzed results on temporal variability of thermal fields in period of 38 years (Jan. 1979-Aug. 2016) showed that Ninh Thuan - Binh Thuan waters were subjected to the significant impact of the ENSO phases (warming and cooling) as well as other processes related to seasonal, inter-seasonal, yearly and mutlti-yearly variations such as in the periods 1986-1989, 1996-2000 and 2009-2011. In order to clarify above issues, authors carried out the analysis of the temporal -spatial changes of temperature fields (include air temperature and sea surface temperature) in Ninh Thuan - Binh Thuan region. The temperature data were exploited from The National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) and Climate Forecast System Reanalysis (CFSR) in the form of hourly time-series products with spatial resolution of 0.3o (1979-2010) and 0.20o (2011-8/2016). The results showed that 2016 was quite similar to 1998 and 2010 when the coral bleaching occurred in the study area.

Abstract: In recent years, Vietnamese fruit production has marked significant progress in terms of scale and product structure. Viet Nam enjoys suitable climates for tropic, subtropical fruits, and some temperate fruits. Thanks to the diversified ecology, implementing an automatic classification system has received a significant concern. In this paper, we address the problem of Vietnamese fruit classification. However, the first requirement to explore this problem is the qualified dataset. To this end, we first introduced the UIT-VinaFruit20 dataset, a novel Vietnamese fruit image dataset that includes 63,541 images from 20 types of fruits from three regions of Viet Nam. The diversity in different fruits in distinct areas poses many new challenges. In addition, we further leverage the feature extraction from hand-crafted and deep learning features along with the SVM classification model to effectively classify Vietnamese fruits. The extensive experiments conducted on the UIT-VinaFruit20dataset provide a comprehensive evaluation and insightful analysis. An encouraging empirical success was obtained as the EfficientNetB0 feature achieved the best results of 85.465 % and 86.919 % in terms of Accuracy and Macro F1-score, respectively
