    Abstract: A simple reversed phase HPLC method with UV detection has been successfully developed and validated for determination of moxifloxacin in human plasma. The sample pretreatment involves only single-step protein precipitation with tricloroacetic acid. Moxifloxacin was measured in plasma using a validated HPLC method with UV detector at 295 nm, C18 column (25cm×4.5mm, 5µm), a mixture of phosphate buffer pH 4.0 and acetonitrile (70:30, v/v) as mobile phase at a flow rate of 0.8 ml/min. Retention time of moxifloxacin was found to be 7.4 min. The mean recovery for the drug was obtained 97.30%. The calibration curve was linear over the concentration range of 0.3 to 25.0 µg/mL with coefficient correlation of 0.9991. This method was successfully applied for therapeutic drug monitoring.

    Abstract: Plastic materials are defined as including the whole of organic polymers owning plasticity. Their production increases rapidly due to their superior properties and applications in our life. Currently, the annual production of plastic is estimated at nearly 400 million tons. About 10% of the plastic produced is discharged into the seas and oceans. Microplastics (MP, less than 5 mm in size) are non-biodegradable and persistent in the environment and have the ability to accumulate in various environmental components, organisms and other human beings through the food chain. Therefore, assessing microplastic pollution becomes essential for the marine and ocean environment. This study aims to evaluate microplastic pollution in Nam Dinh seawater. Water samples were taken in summer 2020 and spring 2021 in Giao Thuy district, Nam Dinh province. Samples were treated with 30% H2O2 solution to remove organic matters and then microplastic buoyantly separated using saturated NaCl solution. MP was identified through observation under a stereo microscope (Olympus SZX2-TR300) and its nature was determined through infrared spectroscopy (µFTIR). Results show that a large level of pollution (average 6 to 8 particles/m3 and 10–14 million particles/km2) is associated with the predominant of colored fibers among MP characteristics. Most of the microplastics identified are Polypropylene in nature. Next, more research needs to be invested in this pollution problem, such as expanding the scope and research object.

    Abstract: The content and composition of classes and molecular species of phospholipid extracted from Dalbergia tonkinensis Prain (Cây Sưa) seed oil in Viet Nam have been investigated using HPLC-HRMS and LCMS-IT-TOF. The content of phospholipid subclasses and their molecular species of D. tonkinensis seed oil have been investigated for the first time. The results showed that D. tonkinensis seed oil contains all basic classes of lipid: polar lipid, sterol, triacylglycerol, free fatty acid, diacylglycerol, hydrocarbon, and wax. In which, the content of triacylglycerol accounts for the highest percentage of 76.38 %, while polar lipid and free fatty acid also have a relatively high content. This result indicated the presence of 12 specific phospholipid subclasses of the plant, including phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylcholine, and phosphatidylinositol. The "molecular forms" of phospholipids of Sua seeds lipids have been identified. The results show that the phospholipids of Sua seeds have 3 classes of substances including phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), phosphatidylcholine (PC), phosphatidylinositol (PI). In which PE has 5 molecular forms, PC has 5 molecular forms and has 2 molecular forms of PI. These are the first data was found and published in Sua seeds.

    Abstract: Pyruvic acid (pyruvate) the most important α-oxocarboxylic acid, plays a central role in energy metabo-lism in living organisms. It is used mainly as a starting material in the biosynthesis of pharmaceuticals as well as employed in the production of crop protection agents, polymers, cosmetics and food additives. Four Gram-negative, moderately halophilic, pyruvate and poly (3-hydroxybutyrate)- producing strains were isolated from soil samples collected from mangrove forest at Giao Thuy, Nam Dinh province. Preliminary screening results showed that among fours strain, the ND7 strain was able to produce the highest bioplastic-poly (3-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB) and extracellular secretion of pyruvate, respectively, reaching 50.23% dry weight and 6.87 g/L after 60 hours of cultivation. When cultured in high alkaliphilic medium (pH 9.4), the pyruvate secretion increased significantly (21.02 g/L after 60 hours of cultivation). Based on the morphological, bio-chemical characteristics and nucleotide sequence analysis of partial 16S rRNA gene, the ND7 strain was iden-tified as Halomonas maura. The results allow us to conclude that ND7 strain is a potential target for the ex-ploitation of pyruvate in a larger scale.

    Abstract: Fluoxetine (FLX), a widely used antidepressant primarily acting as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, has been shown to exhibit other mechanisms of action in various cell types. Cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) is a second messenger used for intracellular signal induction. Cyclic AMP is a nucleotide synthesized within the cell from adenosine triphosphate by the adenylyl cyclase enzyme, and is inactivated enzymatically to 5′AMP by hydroxylation with a group of enzymes called phosphodiesterase. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of FLX on MLTC-1 Leydig cells on intracellular cyclic AMP response to forskolin (FSK). MLTC-1 cells were incubated at 37°C in media supplemented with or without different doses of FLX (0, 0.156, 0.3125, 0.625, 1.25, 2.5, 5 and 10 µM). We then looked for how the concentration of FLX for a short-time (2 hours) and a long-time (24 hours) affects the concentration of intracellular cyclic AMP response to FSK and ATP levels on MLTC-1 cells. Our results show that FLX decreased the intracellular cAMP response to FSK depending on FLX concentration. FLX decreased significantly cAMP levels only at 10 µM after 2 hours of incubation but after 24 hours of incubation FLX caused an effect on cAMP levels at 5 µM and at 10 µM. Moreover, as expected, FLX also caused a decline of steroidogenesis, which is under the control of cAMP and ATP levels in the cells. Taken together, these findings demonstrate that the inhibition of cAMP synthesis by FLX is dose-dependent, and that FLX also inhibited hormone-induced steroidogenesis in MLTC-1 cells.

    Abstract: Five known compounds {carbonylbis[imino(6-methyl-3,1-phenylenel)]}bis[carbamic acid] dimethyl ester (1), (1'R,3'S,5'R,8'S,2E,4E-dihydrophaseic acid) 3'-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (2), 3-methylbutan-1-ol beta-D-glucopyranoside (3), astragalin (4) and daucosterol (5) were isolated from the methanol extract of the seeds of Scaphium macropodum (Miq.) Beumée. The structures of the isolated compounds were elucidated by the spectroscopic methods including NMR and MS, and also by comparison with the literature data. Compounds 1-3 were isolated from this plant for the first time.

    Abstract: The chemical composition of the essential oil obtained by hydrodistillation of the twigs and leaves of Magnolia macclurei collected in Hoang Su Phi, Ha Giang Province, Vietnam was analyzed using GC/MS. A total of 38 compounds were detected in essential oil, accounting for 94.49% of the oil, in which 37 compounds were identified accounting for 93.33%. cis-β-Elemene (14,30%), bicyclogermacrene (18,57%), and 10-epi-ᵧ-eudesmol (16,86%) were the main components of essential oil. The minor components present with rather high amount were: Germacrene D (2,12%), guaiol (8,52%), hinesol (2,34%), valerianol (6,76%), and bulnesol (2,93%). Antibiotic activity of the essential oil sample was tested against a Gram positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, a Gram negative bacteria Escherichia coli, and a yeast Candida albicans using an agar disk diffusion method. All three microorganisms tested are resistant to the oil from twigs and leaves of M. macclurei. That is exhibited through the inhibitory zone diameters ranging from 4 to 12 mm.

    Abstract: Aluminum doped zinc oxide was prepared by magnetron sputtering methods at room temperature using a ZnO ceramic target doped 2%wt by Al2O3. The optical transmittance of the films is higher than 80% in the visible range. A direct bandgap type was reached by controlling deposition conditions; the bandgap value was in the range between 3.2 eV and 4.2 eV. Good electrical and optical properties were obtained for the films deposited by an appropriate co-sputtering of ZnO and Al targets. These films with a resistivity, about 1.3´10-2W.cm, and a transmittance, higher than 80%, can be applicable for transparent conducting electrodes.

    Abstract: We report on a Chirped Pulse Amplification (CPA)-based Titanium:Sapphire (Ti:Al2O3 or Ti:Sapphire) amplifier that uses a single grating stretcher and compressor configuration. The 8-pass amplifier configuration is able to yield 70 μJ pulse energy at 10 Hz repetition rate, which corresponds to a gain of 7000 times. The amplified pulses are expected to be transform-limited with pulse duration of 85 fs. This amplifier will expand the application of our Ti:Sapphire laser at the Vietnam Academy of Sciences (VAST).
