Abstract: Abstract This paper comments the climatic history of Burgundy, and more widely, of northern France, from the grape harvest dates of the Burgundy vineyard. The grape harvest date is constrained by the mean atmospheric temperature during the growing season (March to September). At the beginning of the grape harvest dates series, the tendency is towards warmth: during the 1380' and from 1415 to 1435, starvation due to crop scorching of 1420 included. During the second half of the « Quattrocento », cooling, exemplified by the 1481 starvation, due to rain and coldness. Blasts of hot air during the 1500', 1520', 1530' and 1550'. After 1560, the Little Ice Age upsurges. The « mid summer night's dream » (1596-1597) can turn into a nightmare... Then, a cold « long XVIIth century »? From 1570 to 1630, it is quite obvious, with, however, a slight improvement around 1600-1620. Let us also note, the big hot summer waves during the 1630', 1660' and 1680'. Is the Maunder minimum, between 1645 and 1715, responsible for a slight, synchronous, cooling? In this case, it would be mainly the Late Maunder Minimum (LMM) 1675-1715, with the chiliness of 1675, 1690', and of 1709-1715. Then the big warming of the XVIIth century: the years 1704-1707, 1718-1719, 1720', 1730', 1757-1765, 1780' and above all 1778-1781, indeed favour this hypothesis. We must not forget the cold and wet years 1725, 1740 and 1770. The LIA becomes vigorous again from 1812 to 1860, thanks to big winter snowfall. The years 1812-1817 are not only snowy but also globally cold (Tambora eruption in 1815 and Dalton minimum?). Let us evoke the 1846 heat wave, so harmful to cereals. The LIA ends (without return) from I860 until now, the XXth century is warming from 1900, with an intensification of the phenomenon from 1976 and the 1990'.
