    Abstract: In human–computer interaction (HCI) systems for Mandarin learning, tone recognition is of great importance. A brand-new tone recognition method based on random forest (RF) and feature fusion is proposed in this study. Firstly, three fusion feature sets (FFSs) were created by using different fusion methods on sound source features linked to Mandarin syllable tone. Following the construction of the CART decision trees using the three FFSs, modeling and optimization of the corresponding RF tone classifiers were performed. The method was tested and evaluated on the Syllable Corpus of Standard Chinese (SCSC), which is a speaker-independent Mandarin monosyllable corpus. Additionally, the effects were also assessed on small sample sets. The results show that the tone recognition algorithm can achieve high tone recognition accuracy and has good generalization capability and classification ability with unbalanced data. This indicates that the proposed approach is highly efficient and robust and is appropriate for mobile HCI learning systems.

    Abstract: The hydrocarbon source rocks of the marine carbonates of the Ordovician Majiagou Formation in the Ordos Basin are generally in the high-overmature stage and are, therefore, not suitable for hydrocarbon thermal simulation experiments. Their hydrocarbon generation potential and hydrocarbon generation characteristics are not clearly understood. Meanwhile, Nordic Cambrian carbonates are similar in lithology, parent material type, and sedimentary age, and are in the low evolution stage, which is suitable for hydrocarbon thermal simulation experiments. Therefore, in this study, we selected the Nordic carbonates for the gold tube thermal simulation experiment to analyze the content and geochemical characteristics of the thermal simulation products. The experimental results are also compared and analyzed with the characteristics of thermal simulation products of Pingliang Formation mud shale (contemporaneous with the Majiagou Formation) and Shanxi Formation coal (in the upper part of the Majiagou Formation), which are similar to the Majiagou Formation in the Ordos Basin. The results showed that the Nordic carbonate has different hydrocarbon production characteristics from the mud shale of the Pingliang Formation of the same parent material type, and although the hydrocarbon production yields of the two are not very different, the carbonate still produces methane at 600 °C. The hydrocarbon production yield of the Nordic carbonates is almost equivalent to that of type-II2 kerogen, indicating that the hydrocarbon production yield is not related to lithology and only to the organic matter type; however, the Nordic carbonate can produce a large amount of H2S. The alkane carbon isotope changes are mainly controlled by the degree of thermal evolution, showing gradual heaviness with increasing temperature. No carbon isotope sequence reversal occurred during the thermal simulation, and its distribution range is roughly the same as that of the alkane carbon isotope composition of the mud shale of the Pingliang Formation. The ethane carbon isotope composition is as heavy as −21.2‰ at the high-temperature stage, showing similar coal-type gas characteristics. The addition of calcium sulphate (CaSO4) causes the TSR reaction to occur, which has a significant impact on the methane content under high maturity conditions, reducing its content by more than 50% at 600 °C. However, the addition of CaSO4 increases the yield of heavy hydrocarbon gases, such as ethane, and promotes the production of C6-14 hydrocarbons and C14+ hydrocarbons at high-temperature stages, and the addition of CaSO4 substantially increases the yield of H2, CO2, and H2S. The thermal simulation results have implications for the hydrocarbon formation mechanism of the early Paleozoic marine carbonate formation system in the stacked basins of the Ordos Basin and the Tarim Basin in China.

    Abstract: This paper presents the analytical solution of the radial consolidation of a prefabricated vertical drain (PVD) foundation under the unsaturated condition. In the proposed modeling, air and water phases in the foundation are thought to dissipate horizontally toward to the drain, and the smear effect, drain resistance and external time-dependent loading are fully considered. The analytical mathematical tools, namely the general integration method, Fourier series expansion method, decoupling method and the constant variation method, are utilized to solve the partial differential equations. Moreover, the current solutions are verified with existing solutions in the literature. Finally, a case study considering the ramp loading and exponential loading is conducted to investigate the consolidation patterns under various loading parameters. The results show that smear effect and drain resistance can significantly hinder the dissipation process of excess pore pressures, and different external loading types will lead to various dissipation characteristics (i.e., peak values).

    Abstract: TiO2 is a promising anode material for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) due to its low cost, suitable operating voltage, and excellent structural stability. The inherent poor electron conductivity and low ion diffusion coefficient, however, severely limit its application in lithium storage. Here, Co-doped TiO2 is synthesized by a hydrothermal method as an anode material since Co@TiO2 possesses a large specific surface area and high electronic conductivity. Thanks to the Co dopants, the ion diffusion and electron transport are both greatly improved, which is very beneficial for cycle stability, coulombic efficiency (CE), reversible capacity, and rate performance. As a result, Co@TiO2 shows a high reversible capacity of 227 mAh g−1 at 3 C, excellent rate performance, and cycling stability with a capacity of about 125 mAh g−1 at 10C after 600 cycles (1 C = 170 mA g−1).

    Abstract: Background: With the progress of urbanization, the mobility of people has gradually increased, which has led to the further spread of dengue fever. This study evaluated the transmissibility of dengue fever within districts and between different districts in Zhanjiang City to provide corresponding advice for cross-regional prevention and control. Methods: A mathematical model of transmission dynamics was developed to explore the transmissibility of the disease and to compare that between different regions. Results: A total of 467 DF cases (6.38 per 100,000 people) were reported in Zhanjiang City in 2018. In the model, without any intervention, the number of simulated cases in this epidemic reached about 950. The dengue fever transmissions between districts varied within and between regions. When the spread of dengue fever from Chikan Districts to other districts was cut off, the number of cases in other districts dropped significantly or even to zero. When the density of mosquitoes in Xiashan District was controlled, the dengue fever epidemic in Xiashan District was found to be significantly alleviated. Conclusions: When there is a dengue outbreak, timely measures can effectively control it from developing into an epidemic. Different prevention and control measures in different districts could efficiently reduce the risk of disease transmission.

    Abstract: The study of the origin of asymmetries in mirror β decay is extremely important to understand the fundamental nuclear force and the nuclear structure. The experiment was performed at the National Laboratory of Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou (HIRFL) to measure the β-delayed γ rays of 26P by silicon array and Clover-type high-purity Germanium (HPGe) detectors. Combining with results from the β decay of 26P and its mirror nucleus 26Na, the mirror asymmetry parameter δ ( ≡ft+/ft−− 1) was determined to be 46(13)% for the transition feeding the first excited state in the daughter nucleus. Our independent results support the conclusion that the large mirror asymmetry is close to the proton halo structure in 26P.

    Abstract: To study the effects of water stress on the fluorescence parameters and photosynthetic characteristics of rice under drip irrigation and mulching, so as to determine the response mechanisms to water stress during the tillering stage. A two-year trial was carried out at Shihezi University, China. Three water gradients were investigated. The results showed that the chlorophyll content (a + b), photosynthetic rate (Pn), and leaf area index (LAI) decreased with decreasing soil moisture content at the tillering stage. The chlorophyll content (a + b) and Pn in the flooding irrigation (CK) treatment were significantly higher than those in the stress treatments, and the chlorophyll content (a + b) and Pn in the W1 and W2 treatments were significantly lower than those in the other treatments. The maximum LAI of the CK, W1, and W2 treatments were similar, while the W3 produced lower values; stress treatment improved the ability of tillering in the early and middle stages, while the decrease in soil water content in the tillering stage resulted in a decrease in the final tillering rate; drought stress in the tillering stage resulted in decreased rice yields. The yield of the W1 and W2 treatments were similar, while that of the W3 treatment was seriously reduced. The main reasons for the reduction in yield was the significant decrease in the number of effective panicles, the seed setting rate, and a decrease in the 1000-grains weight. Water consumption in the stress treatments decreased by 51.69%–58.78% compared to the CK treatment; water-use efficiency in the CK treatment was only 0.25 kg·m−3, and the water-use efficiency of the stress treatments increased by 40%–72%. We should make full use of the compensation effect of drought stress in the water regulation of drip irrigation in covered rice and adopt the water control measure of the W2 treatment in the tillering stage. These measures are conducive to improving water-use efficiency and achieving the goal of high quality, high yield, and high efficiency.

    Abstract: The judgment and assessment of remediation effect on urban black-odor river still depend on the physical-chemical parameters and lack in ecological safety effects. A set of combined biological toxicity tests were applied to evaluate the ecological effects of one urban black-odor river before and after the remediation. The special growth rate of Chlorella vulgaris and mortality rate of Daphnia magna were used to assess acute toxicity. The Salmonella Typhimurium/Reverse Mutation Assay was applied to test the mutagenicity. The tests by C. vulgaris growth showed that there was no inhibition before and after remediation by overlying water, in contrast promoted the growth of C. vulgaris. The tests by D. magna showed slight toxicity on site 3# before remediation and nontoxic after remediation. The mutagenicity of organic extracts from overlying water at all sampling sites were positive before remediation, but were eliminated after remediation except from 3 of 4 sites on TA98 strain. The addition of the liver microsomal S9 induced the positive mutagenicity on site 4# compared to S9 absence. The results clarified the applicable and the importance of the biological toxicity tests on assessing the remediation effect and potential ecological risk of urban black-odor river.

    Abstract: Environmental pollution damages public health and affects economic development. Environmental regulation is the main way for the government to solve environmental pollution. So what type of environmental regulation works better for public health and economic development? Can environmental regulation have an influence on economic development through public health? To solve these problems, this research uses China’s provincial panel data from 2013 to 2017 to divide environmental regulation into command-control policy tools and economic incentive policy tools and uses the mediating effect model to examine the relationship among environmental regulation, public health and economic development. The results show that: (1) There is a positive correlation between economic incentive policy tools and economic development; while no significant relationship between command-control policy tools and economic development is founded; (2) The relationship between command-control policy tools and public health is not significant, while the relationship between economic incentive policy tools and public health is positive; (3) Public health does not play a mediating role between command-control policy tools and economic development but plays a partial mediating role between economic incentive policy tools and economic development. Therefore, the government should strengthen the use of economic incentive policy tools to promote public health and sustainable economic development.

    Abstract: Objective: To explore the effect of problematic mobile phone use on college students’ physical activity and their relationships. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 3980 college students from three universities in Jiangsu province by random cluster sampling. The International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short (IPAQ-SF) measured college students’ physical activity. The Mobile Phone Addiction Tendency Scale for College Students (MPATS) measured problematic mobile phone use tendencies. College students’ physical activity was measured by the International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short (IPAQ-SF), and the Mobile Phone Addiction Tendency Scale measured their mobile phone addiction tendency for College Students (MPATS). Results: (1) The proportions of the low-, medium-, and high-intensity physical activity were 83.5%, 10.7%, and 5.8%, respectively, with gender differences; The score of problematic mobile phone use tendency was 38.725 ± 15.139. (2) There were significant differences in problematic mobile phone use tendency among college students with different physical activity intensity (F = 11.839, p 〈 0.001, η2 = 0.007). (3) The level of physical activity was significantly correlated with the tendency of problematic mobile phone use (r = −0.173, p 〈 0.001). (4) Physical activity of college students could significantly predict the tendency of problematic mobile phone use (F (3,3605) = 11.296, p 〈 0.001). Conclusions: The physical activity of college students was mainly moderate to low intensity, while the tendency of problematic mobile phone use was high. College students’ physical activity level was one of the important constraints of problematic mobile phone use tendency.
