    Abstract: Evaluation of the spatial distribution of urban emergency shelters can effectively identify defects in the current distribution of urban emergency shelters and weaknesses in the overall evacuation service capacity of the city and provide reference for improving the level of urban emergency shelters and evacuation and disaster relief capacity. At present, evaluation of the spatial distribution of urban emergency shelters is mainly carried out on three aspects: effectiveness, accessibility, and safety. However, there are problems, such as individual evaluation scales and incomplete indicator systems, unreasonable allocation of indicator weights, and ignoring the influence of fuzzy incompatibility between different indicator attributes on the evaluation results. In this paper, we start from two scales, the individual emergency shelter and the regional groups of emergency shelters. Based on the five criteria of effectiveness, accessibility, safety, suitability, and fairness, the evaluation indicator system of the spatial distribution of urban emergency shelters was constructed. It was combined with AHP, CRITIC, the optimal weight coefficient solution method based on the maximum deviation sum of squares theory, and fuzzy optimization theory to construct a multi-indicator evaluation model. Further, the spatial distribution condition of the existing emergency shelter in Shanghai was evaluated. The results show that: among the existing ninety-one emergency shelters in Shanghai, there are nine places with unreasonable spatial distribution; nineteen places are comparatively unreasonable. From the scale of regional groups, there is one district (Pudong New District) with unreasonable spatial distribution: its relative superiority value is far lower than other districts, and there are three districts that are comparatively unreasonable. Further, the evaluation scores of the spatial distribution reasonableness of emergency shelters in each region of Shanghai show a high–low–middle distribution from the downtown area of Shanghai outward. The evaluation indicator system and evaluation method used in this paper can effectively reflect the deficiencies in the spatial distribution of urban emergency shelters, thus providing a reference for the relevant departments to improve and plan emergency shelters.

    Abstract: Computational prediction of miRNAs, diseases, and genes associated with circRNAs has important implications for circRNA research, as well as provides a reference for wet experiments to save costs and time. In this study, SGCNCMI, a computational model combining multimodal information and graph convolutional neural networks, combines node similarity to form node information and then predicts associated nodes using GCN with a distributive contribution mechanism. The model can be used not only to predict the molecular level of circRNA–miRNA interactions but also to predict circRNA–cancer and circRNA–gene associations. The AUCs of circRNA—miRNA, circRNA–disease, and circRNA–gene associations in the five-fold cross-validation experiment of SGCNCMI is 89.42%, 84.18%, and 82.44%, respectively. SGCNCMI is one of the few models in this field and achieved the best results. In addition, in our case study, six of the top ten relationship pairs with the highest prediction scores were verified in PubMed.

    Abstract: As a challenge in the construction of a “seamless forecast” system, improving the prediction skills of subseasonal forecasts is a key issue for meteorologists. In view of the evolution characteristics of numerical models and deep-learning models for subseasonal forecasts, as forecast times increase, the prediction skill for high-frequency components will decrease, as the lead time is already far beyond the predictability. Meanwhile, intraseasonal low-frequency components are essential to the change in general circulation on subseasonal timescales. In this paper, the Global Subseasonal Forecast Model (GSFM v1.0) first extracted the intraseasonal oscillation (ISO) components of atmospheric signals and used an improved deep-learning model (SE-ResNet) to train and predict the ISO components of geopotential height at 500 hPa (Z500) and temperature at 850 hPa (T850). The results show that the 10–30 day prediction performance of the SE-ResNet model is better than that of the model trained directly with original data. Compared with other models/methods, this model has a good ability to depict the subseasonal evolution of the ISO components of Z500 and T850. In particular, although the prediction results from the Climate Forecast System Version 2 have better performance through 10 days, the SE-ResNet model is substantially superior to CFSv2 through 10–30 days, especially in the middle and high latitudes. The SE-ResNet model also has a better effect in predicting planetary waves with wavenumbers of 3–8. Thus, the application of data-driven subseasonal forecasts of atmospheric ISO components may shed light on improving the skill of seasonal forecasts.

    Abstract: Dendritic cells (DCs), including conventional DCs (cDCs) and plasmacytoid DCs (pDCs), serve as the sentinel cells of the immune system and are responsible for presenting antigen information. Moreover, the role of DCs derived from monocytes (moDCs) in the development of inflammation has been emphasized. Several studies have shown that the function of DCs can be influenced by gut microbes including gut bacteria and viruses. Abnormal changes/reactions in intestinal DCs are potentially associated with diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and intestinal tumors, allowing DCs to be a new target for the treatment of these diseases. In this review, we summarized the physiological functions of DCs in the intestinal micro-environment, their regulatory relationship with intestinal microorganisms and their regulatory mechanism in intestinal diseases.

    Abstract: The presence of phosphine (PH3) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in industrial tail gas results in the difficulty of secondary utilization. Using waste solid as a wet absorbent to purify the H2S and PH3 is an attractive strategy with the achievement of “waste controlled by waste”. In this study, the reaction mechanism of simultaneously removing H2S and PH3 by modified manganese slag slurry was investigated. Through the acid leaching method for raw manganese slag and the solid–liquid separation subsequently, the liquid-phase part has a critical influence on removing H2S and PH3. Furthermore, simulation experiments using metal ions for modified manganese slag slurry were carried out to investigate the effect of varied metal ions on the removal of H2S and PH3. The results showed that Cu2+ and Al3+ have a promoting effect on H2S and PH3 conversion. In addition, the Cu2+ has liquid-phase catalytic oxidation for H2S and PH3 through the conversion of Cu(II) to Cu(I).

    Abstract: Hedinichthys yarkandensis (Day, 1877) has been highlighted in research and evaluated as a class II key protected aquatic wildlife in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. To enhance the study of fish resources in the Hotan River, further germplasm conservation of fishery resources specific to the Tarim River Basin should be carried out, and the development of the aquatic seed industry should be promoted. A total of 1275 H. yarkandensis individuals were collected from 2020–2021. Fish ecological methods were used to explore the population ecological characteristics and ecological habits of H. yarkandensis. We found that the age of H. yarkandensis ranged from one to seven based on lapillus otoliths, and two-plus individuals accounted for more. The age structure composition reveals stable genetic performance and good population fecundity. The fitting correlations of standard length and body weight reveal that H. yarkandensis in the Hotan River is a uniformly growing fish. The ratio of females to males is 0.87:1. The Fulton condition index of males was slightly higher than that of females due to individual miniaturization. The comparative study found that the growth parameters of the Hotan River population (L∞ = 302.772, W∞ = 310.8450, t0 = −0.4608) were higher than those of the other groups. The feeding demand of H. yarkandensis in the Hotan River was guaranteed because the effect of human activities was small in the watershed area and the watershed ecosystem was more stable, which resulted in stable germplasm resources in the Hotan River population.

    Abstract: Tidal flats, which are non-vegetated land–sea transition areas, have an important ecological function in the global ecosystem. However, they have been shrinking in recent years due to natural and anthropogenic activities. Although many studies focus on tidal flats in the Yangtze River estuary (YRE) in China, how reclamation and plant invasion affect the expansion and erosion of tidal flats are still unclear. In this study, we analyzed all of the available Landsat TM/ETM+ /OLI imagery from the period 1996 to 2018 using the Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud computing platform to obtain annual maps of coastal tidal flats of YRE at 30 m spatial resolution. We chose three sample tidal flats where severe Spartina alterniflora (S. alterniflora) invasion, reclamation, and control areas existed to explore the joint impact of plant invasion and reclamation on tidal flats. We also point out the main driving factor of tidal flat expansion of each island in YRE by multiple linear regression. Our results suggest that the tidal flats of YRE had obvious expansion from 1996 to 2018, and the speed of expansion is getting slower because of the decreasing deposits in the Yangtze River. Invasive S. alterniflora is effective at promoting silting, and tidal flats with S. alterniflora invasion expanded 2.54 times faster than the control group. Chongming and Hengsha Islands were mainly affected by sediment concentration, while Changxing and Jiuduansha Islands were affected by reclamation and S. alterniflora invasion, respectively. The results could be used to support coastal zone management and biodiversity conservation of the YRE.

    Abstract: Bilirubin (BR) is a tetrapyrrolic compound stemming from heme catabolism with diverse physiological functions. It can be oxidized by H2O2 to form several degradation products, some of which have been detected in vivo and may contribute to the pathogenesis of certain diseases. However, the oxidative degradation of BR is complex and the conditions that BR degradation occurs pathophysiologically remain obscure. Neutrophils are known to generate large amounts of reactive oxygen species, including H2O2, upon activation and they are mobilized to inflammatory sites; therefore, we hypothesized that activated neutrophils could cause BR degradation, which could occur at inflammatory sites. In the present study, we investigated BR degradation by H2O2 and identified hematinic acid (BHP1) and a new product BHP2, whose structure was characterized as 2,5-diformyl-4-methyl-1H-pyrrole-3-propanoic acid. An LC-MS/MS method for the quantitation of the two compounds was then established. Using the LC-MS/MS method, we observed the concentration-dependent formation of BHP1 and BHP2 in mouse neutrophils incubated with 10 and 30 μM of BR with the yields being 16 ± 3.2 and 31 ± 5.9 pmol/106 cells for BHP1, and 25 ± 4.4 and 71 ± 26 pmol/106 cells for BHP2, respectively. After adding phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate, a neutrophil agonist, to 30 μM of BR-treated cells, the BHP1 yield increased to 43 ± 6.6 pmol/106 cells, whereas the BHP2 one decreased to 47 ± 9.2 pmol/106 cells. The two products were also detected in hemorrhagic skins of mice with dermal inflammation and hemorrhage at levels of 4.5 ± 1.9 and 0.18 ± 0.10 nmol/g tissue, respectively, which were significantly higher than those in the non-hemorrhagic skins. BHP2 was neurotoxic starting at 0.10 μM but BHP1 was not, as assessed using Caenorhabditis elegans as the animal model. Neutrophil-mediated BR degradation may be a universally pathophysiological process in inflammation and can be particularly important under pathological conditions concerning hemorrhage.
