Abstract: In order to reduce the impact of noise on the accuracy of inversion products based on SAR images, many filtering algorithms have been developed for noise reduction of SAR images. This paper proposes a filtering method based on the spatial autocorrelation feature of the block fast Fourier transform (BFFT). The method statistically analyses the autocorrelation length of speckle noise on Sentinel-1B images for different features and then constructs a relationship between autocorrelation length and noise period. After that, the size of the optimal FFT filtering window radius was determined based on the relationship between the noise period and the components in the image frequency domain. Finally, we filtered the SAR image within the parcels. We compared BFFT with six commonly used filtering methods. The results show that: (1) The noise periods of the soybean, corn, paddy, and water objects on the SAR image have little difference, with noise periods of 3.36, 3.17, 3.13, and 3.14 pixels on the VV polarization and 3.49, 3.17, 2.94, and 2.42 pixels on the VH polarization; (2) after the BFFT filtering in the land parcel area, the mean value of the backscattering coefficient (BC) kept constant, whilst at the same time, the standard deviation (STD) was reduced to half of that before the filtering and (3) the BFFT and NLM filtering methods have a better effect on noise reduction inside the block. The BFFT filtering method retains the variation trend between different regions within the block and preserves the block boundary’s clarity. This study provides a new idea for refined image processing.

Abstract: Mildew of maize seeds may affect their germination rates and reduce crop quality. It is crucial to classify maize seeds efficiently and without destroying their original structure. This study aimed to establish hyperspectral datasets using hyperspectral imaging (HSI) of maize seeds with different degrees of mildew and then classify them using spectral characteristics and machine learning algorithms. Initially, the images were processed with Otus and morphological operations. Each seed’s spectral features were extracted based on its coding, its edge, region of interest (ROI), and original pixel coding. Random forest (RF) models were optimized using the sparrow search algorithm (SSA), which is incapable of escaping the local optimum; hence, it was optimized using a modified reverse sparrow search algorithm (JYSSA) strategy. This reverse strategy selects the top 10% as the elite group, allowing us to escape from local optima while simultaneously expanding the range of the sparrow search algorithm’s optimal solution. Finally, the JYSSA-RF algorithm was applied to the validation set, with 96% classification accuracy, 100% precision, and a 93% recall rate. This study provides novel ideas for future nondestructive detection of seeds and moldy seed selection by combining hyperspectral imaging and JYSSA algorithms based on optimized RF.

Abstract: Compound droughts and heatwaves (CDHWs) are likely to cause more severe natural disasters than a single extreme event, and they have been exacerbated by rapid global warming. Based on high-resolution grid data, this study combines the daily-scale ERA5-Land dataset and the monthly-scale SPEI dataset with multiple indicators to analyze CDHWs. We calculated and analyzed the temporal and spatial modal distribution of CDHWs in Central Asia from 1981 to 2018, and in this paper, we discuss the sequence relationship between drought events, heatwave events, and CDHWs. The results show that the number of CDHWs in the study region have increased over time and expanded in terms of area, especially in eastern and southwestern Central Asia. The tsum (total frequency of CDHWs) was 0.5 times higher than the total heatwave frequency and it increased at a rate of 0.17/yr. The maximum duration of tmax (maximum duration of CDHWs in days) was 17 days. Furthermore, the occurrence rate of tmax was 96.67%, and the AH (CDHWs’ accumulated heat) had a rate of 97.78%, which, upon examination of the spatial trend pattern, accounted for the largest increase in terms of area. We also found that the TAH (CDHWs’ average temperature anomalies, SPEI 〈 −0.5) shows obvious seasonality, with the increases in winter and spring being significantly greater than the increases in summer and autumn. The intensity of the CDHWs was stronger than that of a single extreme event, the temperature anomaly was higher than the average of 0.4–0.8 °C, and there was a north–south spatial pattern across the study region. In eastern and northwestern Central Asia, the AH and heatwaves (SPEI 〈 −0.5) increased by 15–30 times per year on average. During the transition from the base period to the reference period, CDHWs increased by 25%, and the number of dry days prior to the CDHWs decreased by 7.35 days. The conclusion of our study can provide a theoretical basis for coping with climate change in arid zones.

Abstract: The vegetation in the desert riparian zone represents a critical barrier in the maintenance of the ecosystem’s balance. However, in recent years, the vegetation degradation of the riparian zone has seriously hindered economic development and ecological environment conservation. Based on a field investigation and literature, the mechanisms of vegetation degradation in the lower reaches of the Ugan River are discussed in this study through the analysis of plant coverage, diversity, substitution rate, distribution pattern, grey correlation analysis, and the relationship with groundwater depth. The results showed that the vegetation coverage in this region is relatively low when the water depth exceeds 4 m. Furthermore, the Shannon–Wiener index, the Simpson index, and the Pielou index all decreased with increases in water depth. Woody plants are the main species maintaining the ecological balance of the region with an aggregation distribution pattern. The degradation of vegetation is the result of the lack of water sources and the intense water consumption caused by human activities (especially agricultural). To promote ecological balance and vegetation restoration, the relative optimal water depth range should be maintained within 2 to 5 m as well as proper control of human activities. In addition, the degraded vegetation can gradually be restored using point and surface (i.e., flowering in the center and spreading to the surrounding areas). The results can provide a scientific basis for vegetation restoration and ecological conservation in the lower reaches of China’s Ugan River.

Abstract: In order to analyze the logistics service mode and sales mode selection strategy, a green low-carbon supply chain consisting of a single manufacturer and a single e-commerce platform is considered. First, in the green low-carbon supply chain which consists of a direct selling channel and reselling channel, the selection strategy of the manufacturer’s logistics service mode is analyzed. Second, in the green low-carbon supply chain which consists of a direct selling channel and an agency channel, the selection strategy of the manufacturer’s logistics service mode is analyzed. Last, the manufacturer’s sales mode is analyzed. We use the backward induction method to solve the theoretical model. This study contributes to the literature by considering the optimal decision of a green low-carbon supply chain. This study brings together the literature from streams on the selling channel selection strategy in green supply chains and the logistics service strategy in green supply chains. The impacts of the logistics service cost, the selling cost, and the green input cost coefficient on the optimal decision and the firms’ profit are discussed. The result shows that in the direct selling channel and reselling channel, when the basic market demand and the logistics service level of the third-party logistics service provider are low, manufacturers will choose the e-commerce platform logistics service; in the opposite case, manufacturers will choose the third-party logistics service. In the direct selling channel and agency channels, when the logistics service level of the third-party logistics service provider is greater than or equal to a certain critical value and less than or equal to the logistics service level of the e-commerce platform, manufacturers will choose the e-commerce platform logistics service; in the opposite case, manufacturers will choose the third-party logistics service. No matter whether the manufacturer chooses the logistics service provided by the third-party logistics service provider or the logistics service provided by the e-commerce platform, the manufacturer should choose the direct selling channel and the agency channel.

Abstract: In recent years, cable-driven parallel robots (CDPRs) have drawn more and more attention due to the properties of large workspace, large payload capacity, and ease of reconfiguration. In this paper, we present a kinematic and dynamic modeling and workspace analysis for a novel suspended CDPR which generates Schönflies motions. Firstly, the architecture of the robot is introduced, and the inverse and forward kinematic problems of the robot are solved through a geometrical approach. Then, the dynamic equation of the robot is derived by separately considering the moving platform and the drive trains. Based on the dynamic equation, the dynamic feasible workspace of the robot is determined under different values of accelerations. Finally, experiments are performed on a prototype of the robot to demonstrate the correctness of the derived models and workspace.

Abstract: Wide mode SAR images have an apparent incidence angle effect. The existing incident angle normalization methods assume that the relationship between the incident angle (θ) and the backscattering coefficient (σPQ) does not change with the growth stage of crops, which is in conflict with the real-life situation. Therefore, the normalization results of σPQ based on these existing methods will affect the accuracy of object classification, target recognition, and land surface parameter inversion. Here, the change in θ-σPQ relationship was investigated based on time-series (April to October) σPQ of maize canopies in northeast China, and a dynamic method based on normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) was developed to normalize the effect of θ on σPQ. Through the accuracy evaluation, the following conclusions are obtained: (1) the dependence (referring to N) of Sentinel 1 C-band σPQ on θ varies with maize NDVI. In addition, the value of N changed from 9.35 to 0.66 at VV polarization from bare soil to biomass peak, and from 6.26 to 0.99 at VH polarization; (2) a dynamic method was proposed to quantify the change of N based on its strong correlation with NDVI, indicated by R2 of 0.82 and 0.80 for VV and VH polarization, respectively; and (3) the overall root mean square error of normalized σPQ based on the newly-developed dynamic method is 0.51 dB, and this accuracy outperforms the original first-order cosine method (1.37 dB) and cosine square law method (1.08 dB) by about 63% and 53% on the whole. This study provides a dynamic framework for normalizing radar backscatter coefficient, improving the retrieval accuracy of land surface parameters from radar remote sensing.

Abstract: A digital automatic gain compensation (AGC) drone-borne K-band microwave radiometer with continuous high-speed acquisition and fast storage functions is designed and applied to obtain high-resolution radiation brightness temperature (TB) images. In this paper, the composition of the drone-borne passive microwave observation system is introduced, a data processing method considering the topography and angle correction is proposed, the error analysis of the projection process is carried out, and finally, a high-resolution microwave radiation TB image is obtained by a demonstration area experiment. The characteristics of the radiometer are tested by experiments, and the standard deviation of the TB is 1K. The data processing method proposed is verified using a demonstration case. The corrected data have a good correlation with the theoretical values, of which the R2 is 0.87. A high-resolution radiation TB image is obtained, and the results show the TB characteristics of different objects well. The boundary of the ground object is closer to the real value after correction.
