    Abstract: (1) Background: To investigate the association between maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) based on 18F-FDG PET/CT and EGFR mutation status in lung adenocarcinoma. (2) Methods: A total of 366 patients were retrospectively collected and divided into the EGFR mutation group (n = 228) and EGFR wild-type group (n = 138) according to their EGFR mutation status. The two groups’ general information and PET/CT imaging parameters were compared. A hierarchical binary logistic regression model was used to assess the interaction effect on the relationship between SUVmax and EGFR mutation in different subgroups. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the association between SUVmax and EGFR mutation. After adjusting for confounding factors, a generalized additive model and smooth curve fitting were applied to address possible non-linearities. (3) Results: Smoking status significantly affected the relationship between SUVmax and EGFR mutation (p for interaction = 0.012), with an interaction effect. After adjusting for age, gender, nodule type, bronchial sign, and CEA grouping, in the smoking subgroup, curve fitting results showed that the relationship between SUVmax and EGFR mutation was approximately linear (df = 1.000, c2 = 3.897, p = 0.048); with the increase in SUVmax, the probability of EGFR mutation gradually decreased, and the OR value was 0.952 (95%CI: 0.908–0.999; p = 0.045). (4) Conclusions: Smoking status can affect the relationship between SUVmax and EGFR mutation status in lung adenocarcinoma, especially in the positive smoking history subgroup. Fully understanding the effect of smoking status will help to improve the accuracy of SUVmax in predicting EGFR mutations.

    Abstract: Helical springs with nonlinear geometric parameters nowadays have shown great advantages over classical linear springs, especially due to their superior performance in diminishing dynamic responses in high-speed situations. However, existing studies are mostly available for springs with linear properties, and the sole FE spring models using solid elements occupy significant computational resources. This study presents an FE spring model based on Timoshenko beam theory, which allows for high-speed dynamic simulations of nonlinear springs using a beehive valve spring sample. The dynamic results are also compared with the results of the FE model using solid elements and the results of the engine head test and indicate that the proposed FE model can accurately predict dynamic spring forces and the phenomenon of coil clash when simulating the beehive spring at engine speeds of both 5600 and 8000 RPM. The results also indicate that rapid coil impact brings significant spike forces. It should also be noted that the FE spring model using beam elements displays sufficient accuracy in predicting the dynamic responses of nonlinear springs while occupying much fewer computational resources than the FE model using solid elements.

    Abstract: The applications of alginate lyase are diverse, but efficient commercial enzymes are still unavailable. In this study, a novel alginate lyase with high activity was obtained from the marine bacteria Vibrio sp. Ni1. The ORF of the algB gene has 1824 bp, encoding 607 amino acids. Homology analysis shows that AlgB belongs to the PL7 family. There are two catalytic domains with the typical region of QIH found in AlgB. The purified recombinant enzyme of AlgB shows highest activity at 35 °C, pH 8.0, and 50 mmol/L Tris-HCl without any metal ions. Only K+ slightly enhances the activity, while Fe2+ and Cu2+ strongly inhibit the activity. The AlgB preferred polyM as substrate. The end products of enzymatic mixture are DP2 and DP3, without any metal ion to assist them. This enzyme has good industrial application prospects.

    Abstract: Globisporangium, especially G. sylvaticum, causes devastating root rot, blight, and other diseases in various species of cash crops. To investigate the distribution and host range of G. sylvaticum in Guizhou, a suitable habitat for this pathogen, we collected 156 root-diseased samples, isolated the pathogens, and found that G. sylvaticum is widespread and has eleven host plants, including four novel hosts. Furthermore, to effectively identify G. sylvaticum, we developed a simple and dependable method based on loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP), which used a primer set designed from the internal transcribed spacer sequences with high specificity and sensitivity of 1 pg/μL. Additionally, to perform field identification, we used the “Plant-LAMP” method with crude DNA extraction to detect the pathogen in 45 root samples from nine species of plants. Our results showed that this method could effectively detect G. sylvaticum in diseased roots. Therefore, our findings not only enrich existing research on the diversity of pathogenic Globisporangium in Guizhou but also present an efficient LAMP field detection method that could significantly contribute to plant disease management and prevention.
