Abstract: A teleost’s kidney was divided into head kidney and trunk kidney. The head kidney is an important lymphatic organ, while the trunk kidney mainly performs osmotic pressure regulation and excretion functions. Previous studies have shown that the teleost’s head kidney exerts a strong immune response against pathogen invasion, while the mechanism of immune response in the trunk kidney is still rarely reported. Therefore, in this study, we established an Infectious hematopoietic necrosis virus (IHNV) immersion infection model to compare the similarities and differences of immune response mechanisms between the head kidney and trunk kidney against viral infection. The results showed that IHNV infection causes severe tissue damage and inflammatory reaction in the head and trunk kidney, triggers a series of interferon cascade reactions, and produces strong immune response. In addition, the transcriptome data showed that the head kidney and trunk kidney had similar immune response mechanisms, which showed that the NOD-like receptor signaling pathway and Toll-like receptor signaling pathway were activated. In conclusion, despite functional differentiation, the teleost’s trunk kidney still has a strong immune response, especially the interferon-stimulated genes, which have stronger immune response in the trunk kidney than in the head kidney when responding to IHNV infection. This study contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of the teleost immune system and enriches the theory of kidney immunity in teleosts.

Abstract: Three-dimensional printed concrete (3DPC) is an anisotropic heterogeneous material composed of a concrete matrix and the interfaces between layers and filaments that form during printing. The overall ion transport properties can be characterized by the equivalent diffusion coefficient. This paper first establishes a theoretical model to calculate the equivalent diffusion coefficient of 3DPC. Verification through numerical calculations shows that this theoretical model is highly precise. Based on this, the model was used to analyze the effects of dimensionless interface parameters on the equivalent diffusion coefficients in different directions of 3DPC. Finally, the dynamic ionic transport properties of 3DPC were investigated through finite element numerical simulation. The results of the dynamic study indicate that interfaces have a significant impact on the ion distribution and its evolution within 3DPC. The product of the interface diffusion coefficient and interface size can represent the ionic transport capacity of an interface. The stronger the ionic transport capacity of an interface, the higher the ion concentration at that interface. Due to the “drainage” effect of lateral interfaces, the ion concentration in the middle of 3DPC with a smaller equivalent diffusion coefficient is higher than that in 3DPC with a larger equivalent diffusion coefficient.

Abstract: With the increasing demand for sustainable and green energy, electric energy storage technologies have received enough attention and extensive research. Among them, Li-ion batteries (LIBs) are widely used because of their excellent performance, but in practical applications, the electrochemical performance of electrode materials is not satisfactory. Carbon-based materials with high chemical stability, strong conductivity, high specific surface area, and good capacity retention are traditional anode materials in electrochemical energy storage devices, while cobalt-based nano-materials have been widely used in LIBs anodes because of their high theoretical specific capacity. This paper gives a systematic summary of the state of research of cobalt-containing nanomaterials, carbon nanomaterials, and their composites in LIBs anodes. Moreover, the preparation methods of electrode materials and measures to improve electrochemical performance are also summarized. The electrochemical performance of anode materials can be significantly improved by compounding carbon nanomaterials with cobalt nanomaterials. Composite materials have better electrical conductivity, as well as higher cycle ability and reversibility than single materials, and the synergistic effect between them can explain this phenomenon. In addition, the electrochemical performance of materials can be significantly improved by adjusting the microstructure of materials (especially preparing them into porous structures). Among the different microscopic morphologies of materials, porous structure can provide more positions for chimerism of lithium ions, shorten the diffusion distance between electrons and ions, and thus promote the transfer of lithium ions and the diffusion of electrolytes.
