Abstract: Although it is known that rice 14-3-3 family genes are involved in various defense responses, the functions of OsGF14f in response to diseases have not been reported. Here, we showed that the transcription of OsGF14f was significantly induced by leaf blast infection, and the overexpression of OsGF14f quantitatively enhanced resistance to leaf blast and bacterial blight in rice. Further analysis showed that the expression levels of salicylic acid (SA) pathway-associated genes (PAL1, NH1, PR1a and PR10) in the OsGF14f-overexpressing plants, were higher than those in wild-type plants after inoculation with the blast isolate (Magnaporthe oryzae Barr). In addition, the expression level of OsGF14f was significantly induced after SA treatment, and higher endogenous SA levels were observed in the OsGF14f-overexpressing plants compared with that in wild-type plants, especially after blast challenge. Taken together, these results suggest that OsGF14f positively regulates leaf blast and bacterial blight resistance in rice via the SA-dependent signaling pathway.

Abstract: A secrecy energy efficiency optimization scheme for a multifunctional unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) assisted mobile edge computing system is proposed to solve the computing power and security issues in the Internet-of-Things scenario. The UAV can switch roles between a computing UAV and jamming UAV based on the channel conditions. To ensure the security of the content and the system energy efficiency in the process of offloading computing tasks, the UAV trajectory, uplink transmit power, user scheduling, and offload task are jointly optimized, and an updated-rate assisted block coordinate descent (BCD) algorithm is used. Simulation results show that this scheme efficiently improves the secrecy performance and energy efficiency of the system. Compared with the benchmark scheme, the secrecy energy efficiency of the scheme is improved by 38.5%.

Abstract: Micro-textured tools were fabricated by making textures on rake faces and filling them with molybdenum disulfide. Dry milling of Ti-6Al-4V alloys was carried out with the micro-textured tools and conventional tools for comparison. Results showed that micro-textured tools can reduce the resultant cutting forces, cutting temperatures, and power consumption by approximately 15%, 10%, and 5%, respectively. Meanwhile, the developed tools can improve tool lives by approximately 20–25%. The radial width of cut, the cutting speed, and the axial depth of cut all had statistical and physical effects on the energy consumption per unit of volume in dry milling of Ti-6Al-4V alloys, while the feed per tooth seemed to have no significant effect. The mechanism for improved performance of micro-textured tools can be mainly interpreted as their self-lubricating function.

Abstract: The objective of this study was to evaluate the hepatoprotective and metabolic effects of rosmarinic acid (RA) in rats. RA [100 mg/kg body weight (BW)] was intragastrically (i.g.) administered to Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats once a day for seven consecutive days. The rats were then i.g. administered α-naphthylisothiocyanate (ANIT) (80 mg/kg once on the 5th day) to induce acute intrahepatic cholestasis after the last administration of RA. Blood samples were collected at different time points (0.083 h, 0.17 h, 0.33 h, 0.5 h, 0.75 h, 1 h, 1.5 h, 3 h, 4 h, 6 h, 8 h, 12 h, 20 h) after administration, and the levels of RA were estimated by HPLC. Plasma and bile biochemical analysis, bile flow rate, and liver histopathology were measured to evaluate the hepatoprotective effect of RA. The PK-PD curves showed obviously clockwise (AST and ALT) or anticlockwise (TBA, TBIL). Pretreatment with RA at different doses significantly restrained ANIT-induced pathological changes in bile rate, TBA, TBIL, ALT, AST (p 〈 0.05 or p 〈 0.01). The relationship between RA concentration and its hepatoprotective effects on acute cholestasis responses was assessed by PK-PD modeling.

Abstract: Dapoxetine is used for the treatment of premature ejaculation. The present study developed an HPLC–MS/MS method to determine the levels of dapoxetine in human plasma processed using simple protein precipitation. Dapoxetine-d7 was selected as the internal standard. The established method was performed using a mass spectrometer equipped with an electrospray ionization source in multiple positive ion reactions to monitor the mode using the precursor-to-product ion transitions of m/z 306.2–157.2 and m/z 313.2–164.2 for dapoxetine-d7 and dapoxetine, respectively. The method was evaluated based on its selectivity, linearity, limit of quantification, precision, accuracy, matrix effects, dilution integrity, stability, and extraction recovery. As a result of the model used in the present study, the validated linear ranges of dapoxetine were determined to be 2.00~1000 ng/mL in plasma, and the selectivity, precision, accuracy, dilution integrity, stability, and extraction recovery met the accepted standard. No matrix interference was observed. The method was successfully validated and applied to pharmacokinetic studies in healthy Chinese volunteers during the fasting and postprandial periods, respectively.

Abstract: Subway station fires often have serious consequences because of the high density of people and limited number of exits in a relatively enclosed space. In this study, a comprehensive model based on Bayesian network (BN) and the Delphi method is established for the rapid and dynamic assessment of the fire evolution process, and consequences, in underground subway stations. Based on the case studies of typical subway station fire accidents, 28 BN nodes are proposed to represent the evolution process of subway station fires, from causes to consequences. Based on expert knowledge and consistency processing by the Delphi method, the conditional probabilities of child BN nodes are determined. The BN model can quantitatively evaluate the factors influencing fire causes, fire proof/intervention measures, and fire consequences. The results show that the framework, combined with Bayesian network and the Delphi method, is a reliable tool for dynamic assessment of subway station fires. This study could offer insights to a more realistic analysis for emergency decision-making on fire disaster reduction, since the proposed approach could take into account the conditional dependency in the fire propagation process and incorporate fire proof/intervention measures, which is helpful for resilience and sustainability promotion of underground facilities.

Abstract: The study of the origin of asymmetries in mirror β decay is extremely important to understand the fundamental nuclear force and the nuclear structure. The experiment was performed at the National Laboratory of Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou (HIRFL) to measure the β-delayed γ rays of 26P by silicon array and Clover-type high-purity Germanium (HPGe) detectors. Combining with results from the β decay of 26P and its mirror nucleus 26Na, the mirror asymmetry parameter δ ( ≡ft+/ft−− 1) was determined to be 46(13)% for the transition feeding the first excited state in the daughter nucleus. Our independent results support the conclusion that the large mirror asymmetry is close to the proton halo structure in 26P.

Abstract: Micro-dimples were fabricated on the surface of WC/Co cemented carbide disks by laser, and dry friction tests were carried out by sliding with Al2O3/WC ceramic balls. Results show that the textured cemented carbide can reduce the average friction coefficient by about 30% compared to the smooth sample, while the textured cemented carbide with solid lubricants can reduce the average friction coefficient by about 50%. The density of textured dimples has no obvious influence on the friction coefficient. The wear rates of worn ceramic balls continue to decline with the increase in sliding speeds. The wear rates of the ceramic balls can be reduced by 40~50% for textured samples and about 65% for textured samples with solid lubricants compared to the untextured ones. The mechanism for improving the tribological properties of cemented carbide materials is that the textured dimples can store lubricants and capture wear debris, which would play an important role in promoting the engineering application of surface texturing in cemented carbide materials.

Abstract: Studies had suggested an association between circadian disruptors (including night shift work, domestic light exposure at night, sleep duration, and circadian gene polymorphism) and breast cancer, while rare studies had been conducted in the Chinese population. This study was a case-control study conducted to explore the impact of circadian disruptors on the risk of breast cancer in China. Four hundred and sixty-four cases and 464 controls, admitted from the Department of Breast Surgery, Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, were included in this study. Adjusting age, BMI group, smoking, alcohol consumption, menopausal status, family history of breast cancer, duration of breastfeeding, age at menarche, number of pregnancies, age at first full-term pregnancy, use of estrogen and use of oral contraceptive, multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the risk of breast cancer was higher in short sleep duration group (OR = 4.86, 95%CI: 1.73–17.33). Meanwhile, rs2292912 in CRY2, rs2253820 in PER1, rs2289591 in PER1 and rs3027188 in PER1 were positively associated with the risk of breast cancer. This study supported that the short duration of sleep and four SNPs in crucial circadian genes played a role in the development of breast cancer.
