Kurzfassung: The deep application of liquid fertilizer in paddy fields is a fertilization technique that applies liquid fertilizer deep near the root system of paddy field crops, which can effectively improve the absorption rate of the crops and reduce the amount of fertilizer applied. In the cold regions of China, the soil return rate of the furrowing operation of the deep application of liquid fertilizer in paddy fields is low, which can easily cause the excessive liquid leakage of fertilizer and affect crop growth. Therefore, it is difficult to popularize in large areas. According to the characteristics of paddy soil in the cold regions of China and the operating requirements of a high backfill rate and low disturbance rate of the soil of the deep application of liquid fertilizer, this paper designed a bionic liquid fertilizer deep application furrow opener based on the claw-toe structure of the muskrat. In this study, an indoor soil bin test was conducted by constructing a deep application environment for the liquid fertilizer in paddy fields. The results of the soil bin test showed the effects of the key operating parameters of the bionic design of the liquid fertilizer deep application furrow opener, spraying pressure of the liquid fertilizer and operating speed on the furrowing resistance, soil disturbance rate and the leakage amount of liquid fertilizer. The bionic design of the liquid fertilizer deep application furrow opener has a low soil disturbance rate and leakage amount of fertilizer when the operating speed is 0.8 m s−1, and the spraying pressure is 0.2 MPa. This furrow opener significantly improves the operating performance of the deep application of liquid fertilizer in the cold regions of China and is suitable for the deep application of liquid fertilizer in the paddy fields of this region.

Kurzfassung: Active phased array antennas (APAAs) can suffer from the effects of harsh thermal environments, which are caused by the large quantity of power generated by densely packed T/R modules and external thermal impacts. The situation may be worse in the case of limited room and severe thermal loads, due to heat radiation and a low temperature sink. The temperature field of the antenna can be changed. Since large numbers of temperature-sensitive electronic components exist in T/R modules, excitation current output can be significantly affected and the electromagnetic performance of APAAs can be seriously degraded. However, due to a lack of quantitative analysis, it is difficult to directly estimate the effect of temperature on the electromagnetic performance of APAAs. Therefore, this study investigated the electromagnetic performance of APAAs as affected by two key factors—the uniformly distributed temperature field and the temperature gradient field—based on different antenna shapes and sizes, to provide theoretical guidance for their thermal design.

Kurzfassung: Newcastle disease virus (NDV) and infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) are the two most important and widespread viruses causing huge economic losses in the global poultry industry. Outbreaks of genotype VII NDV and IBDV variants in vaccinated poultry flocks call for genetically matched vaccines. In the present study, a genetic matched chimeric NDV LaSota vaccine strain expressing VP2 gene of IBDV variant, rLaS-VIIF/HN-VP2 was generated for the first time, in which both the F and HN genes of LaSota were replaced with those of the genotype VII NDV strain FJSW. The cleavage site of the FJSW strain F protein in the rLaS-VIIF/HN-VP2 genome was mutated to the avirulent motif found in LaSota. Expression of IBDV VP2 protein was confirmed by western blot. The rLaS-VIIF/HN-VP2 maintained the efficient replication ability in embryonated eggs, low pathogenicity and genetic stability comparable to that of parental LaSota virus. One dose oculonasal vaccination of one-week-old SPF chickens with rLaS-VIIF/HN-VP2 induced full protection against genotype VII NDV and IBDV lethal challenge. These results indicate that the rLaS-VIIF/HN-VP2 is a promising bivalent vaccine to prevent infections of IBDV and genotype VII NDV.

Kurzfassung: Phytotherapy offers obvious advantages in the intervention of Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), but it is difficult to clarify the working mechanisms of the medicinal materials it uses. DGS is a natural vasoprotective combination that was screened out in our previous research, yet its potential components and mechanisms are unknown. Therefore, in this study, HPLC-MS and network pharmacology were employed to identify the active components and key signaling pathways of DGS. Transgenic zebrafish and HUVECs cell assays were used to evaluate the effectiveness of DGS. A total of 37 potentially active compounds were identified that interacted with 112 potential targets of CAD. Furthermore, PI3K-Akt, MAPK, relaxin, VEGF, and other signal pathways were determined to be the most promising DGS-mediated pathways. NO kit, ELISA, and Western blot results showed that DGS significantly promoted NO and VEGFA secretion via the upregulation of VEGFR2 expression and the phosphorylation of Akt, Erk1/2, and eNOS to cause angiogenesis and vasodilation. The result of dynamics molecular docking indicated that Salvianolic acid C may be a key active component of DGS in the treatment of CAD. In conclusion, this study has shed light on the network molecular mechanism of DGS for the intervention of CAD using a network pharmacology-driven strategy for the first time to aid in the intervention of CAD.

Kurzfassung: This work aimed to investigate whether there are synergistic effects between walnut peptide (WNP) and ginseng extracts (GSE) treatments to ameliorate the memory impairment caused by scopolamine (SCOP). The Morris water maze trial, hippocampal neuron morphology, neurotransmitters, and synaptic ultrastructure were examined, along with brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF)-related signaling pathway proteins. The results of the Morris water maze trial demonstrated that the combined administration of WNP and GSE effectively alleviated memory impairment in C57BL/6 rats caused by SCOP. Improvement in the morphology of hippocampal neurons, dendritic spines, and synaptic plasticity and upregulation of neurotransmitters AChE, ACh, ChAT, Glu, DA, and 5-HT supported the memory improvement effects of WNP + GSE. In addition, compared with the model group, WNP + GSE significantly enhanced the protein levels of VAChT, Trx-1, and the CREB/BDNF/TrkB pathway in hippocampal and PC12 cells induced by SCOP (p 〈 0.05). Notably, WNP + GSE boosted memory via multiple pathways, not only the BDNF/TrkB/CREB target.

Kurzfassung: Climate change has a distinct impact on agriculture in China, particularly in the northeast, a key agriculture area sensitive to extreme hydroclimate events. Using monthly climate and agriculture data, the influence of drought on maize and soybean yields—two of the main crops in the region—in northeast China since 1961 to 2017 were investigated. The results showed that the temperature in the growing season increased by 1.0 °C from the period 1998–2017 to the period 1961–1980, while the annual precipitation decreased slightly. However, precipitation trends varied throughout the growing season (May–September), increasing slightly in May and June, but decreasing in July, August and September, associated with the weakening of the East Asian summer monsoon. Consequently, the annual and growing season drought frequency increased by 15%, and 25%, respectively, in the period 1998–2017 relative to the period 1961–1980. The highest drought frequency (55%) was observed in September. At the same time, the drought intensity during the growing season increased by 7.8%. The increasing frequency and intensity of drought had negative influences on the two crops. During moderate drought years in the period 1961–2017, 3.2% and 10.4% of the provincial maize and soybean yields were lost, respectively. However, during more severe drought years, losses doubled for soybean (21.8%), but increased more than four-fold for maize (14.0%). Moreover, in comparison to the period 1961–1980, a higher proportion of the yields were lost in the period 1998–2017, particularly for maize, which increased by 15% (increase for soybean was 2.4%). This change largely depends on increasing droughts in August and September, when both crops are in their filling stages. The impact of drought on maize and soybean production was different during different growth stages, where a strong relationship was noted between drought and yield loss of soybean in its filling stage. Given the sensitivity of maize and soybean yields in northeast China to drought, and the observed production trends, climate change will likely have significant negative impacts on productivity in the future.

Kurzfassung: The BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) is fully operational and provides positioning, navigation, and timing services to users worldwide. To comprehensively evaluate the BeiDou-3 Navigation Satellite System (BDS-3) global real-time kinematic (RTK) positioning performance, five sets of IGS/MEGX stations with different baseline lengths are selected in this research, and the visibility of current BDS-3, BDS-2+BDS-3, and Global Positioning System (GPS) system satellites are analyzed. The single frequency, dual-frequency, and triple-frequency positioning accuracy as well as ambiguity fixing rate under short baseline and long baseline are also analyzed. The experimental results show that the positioning accuracies of B1C, BII, L1, and B3I single-frequency bands were about the same, while for band B2a it was lower. For the short baseline dual-frequency RTK positioning mode, the accuracy of BDS-3 (B1C/B2a), BDS-3 (B1I/B3I), triple-frequency BDS-3 (B1C/B2a/B3I), and GPS (L1L2) is comparable and slightly better than that of BDS-3 (B1I/B3I). With the increase in baseline length, the advantages of dual-frequency BDS-3 (B1C/B2a) and triple frequency BDS (B1C/B2a/B3I) are more obvious, with triple-frequency BDS-3 (B1C/B2a/B3I) having the best positioning accuracy. In terms of ambiguity fixing performance, dual-frequency BDS-2+BDS-3 (B1I/B3I) and dual-frequency GPS (L1L2) have the highest ambiguity fixing rate. The ambiguity fixing rate of dual-frequency BDS-3 (B1C/B2a) and triple-frequency BDS-3 (B1C/B2a/B3I) can be higher than 90% within 100 km. In the case of positioning using only the BDS-3 system, the triple-frequency BDS-3 (B1C/B2a/B3I) is superior to both the dual-frequency BDS-3 (B1I/B3I) and dual-frequency BDS-3 (B1C/B2a) in terms of both positioning accuracy and ambiguity fixing rate. The BDS-2+BDS-3 (B1I/B3I) dual-frequency RTK, which has reached a level comparable to GPS, can provide global users with real-time centimeter-level differential positioning services.

Kurzfassung: Background and aims: Our goals in the study were to (1) quantify the discordance in LDL-C levels between equations (the Friedewald, Sampson, and Martin/Hopkins equations) and compare them with direct LDL-C (dLDL-C); and (2) explore the proportion of misclassified patients by calculated LDL-C using these three different equations. Methods: A total of 30,349 consecutive patients with angiographically confirmed coronary artery disease (CAD) were prospectively enrolled. Concordance was defined as if the LDL-C was 〈 1.8 mmol/L with each pairwise comparison of LDL-C equations. Estimated LDL-C that fell into the same category as dLDL-C at the following levels: 〈 1.4, 1.4 to 1.7, 1.8 to 2.5, 2.6 to 2.9, and ≥3.0 mmol/L was considered to have been correctly categorized. Results: The concordance was 96.3% (Sampson vs. Martin/Hopkins), 95.0% (Friedewald vs. Sampson), and 91.4% (Friedewald vs. Martin/Hopkins), respectively. This proportion fell to 82.4% in those with hypertriglyceridemia (TG ≥ 1.7 mmol/L). With an accurate classification rate of 73.6%, the Martin/Hopkins equation outperformed the Sampson equation (69.5%) and the Friedewald equation (59.3%) by a wide margin. Conclusions: Comparing it to the validated Martin/Hopkins equation, the Friedewald equation produced the lowest levels of LDL-C, followed by the Sampson equation. In the classification of LDL-C, the Martin/Hopkins equation has also been shown to be more accurate. There is a significant difference between the equations and the direct measurement method, which may lead to overtreatment or undertreatment.

Kurzfassung: Root-zone restriction induces physiological stress on roots, thus limiting the vegetative and enhancing reproductive development, which promotes fruit quality and growth. Numerous bacterial-related growth-promoting, stress-mitigating, and disease-prevention activities have been described, but none in root-restricted cultivation. The study aimed to understand the activities of grapevine bacterial communities and plant-bacterial relationships to improve fruit quality. We used High-throughput sequencing, edaphic soil factors, and network analysis to explore the impact of restricted cultivation on the diversity, composition and network structure of bacterial communities of rhizosphere soil, roots, leaves, flowers and berries. The bacterial richness, diversity, and networking were indeed regulated by root-zone restriction at all phenological stages, with a peak at the veraison stage, yielding superior fruit quality compared to control plants. Moreover, it also handled the nutrient availability in treated plants, such as available nitrogen (AN) was 3.5, 5.7 and 0.9 folds scarcer at full bloom, veraison and maturity stages, respectively, compared to control plants. Biochemical indicators of the berry have proved that high-quality berry is yielded in association with the bacteria. Cyanobacteria were most abundant in the phyllosphere, Proteobacteria in the rhizosphere, and Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes in the endosphere. These bacterial phyla were most correlated and influenced by different soil factors in control and treated plants. Our findings are a comprehensive approach to the implications of root-zone restriction on the bacterial microbiota, which will assist in directing a more focused procedure to uncover the precise mechanism, which is still undiscovered.

Kurzfassung: Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) is a vertically transmitted reproductive disorder that is typically characterized by miscarriage, premature birth, and stillbirth in pregnant sows after infection. Such characteristics indicate that PRRSV can infect and penetrate the porcine placental barrier to infect fetus piglets. The porcine trophoblast is an important component of the placental barrier, and secretes various hormones, including estrogen and progesterone, to maintain normal pregnancy and embryonic development during pregnancy. It is conceivable that the pathogenic effects of PRRSV infection on porcine trophoblast cells may lead to reproductive failure; however, the underlying detailed mechanism of the interaction between porcine trophoblast (PTR2) cells and PRRSV is unknown. Therefore, we conducted genome-wide mRNA and long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) analysis profiling in PRRSV-infected PTR2. The results showed that 672 mRNAs and 476 lncRNAs were significantly different from the control group after viral infection. Target genes of the co-expression and co-location of differential mRNAs and lncRNAs were enriched by GO (gene ontology) and KEGG (Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes) analysis, revealing that most of the pathways were involved in cell nutrient metabolism, cell proliferation, and differentiation. Specifically, the estrogen signaling pathway, the PI3K (PhosphoInositide-3 Kinase)-Akt (serine/threonine kinase) signaling pathway, and the insulin secretion related to embryonic development were selected for analysis. Further research found that PRRSV inhibits the expression of G-protein-coupled estrogen receptor 1 (GPER1), thereby reducing estrogen-induced phosphorylation of AKT and the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR). The reduction in the phosphorylation of AKT and mTOR blocks the activation of the GPER1- PI3K-AKT-mTOR signaling pathway, consequently restraining insulin secretion, impacting PTR2 cell proliferation, differentiation, and nutrient metabolism. We also found that PRRSV triggered trophoblast cell apoptosis, interrupting the integrity of the placental villus barrier. Furthermore, the interaction network diagram of lncRNA, regulating GPER1 and apoptosis-related genes, was constructed, providing a reference for enriching the functions of these lncRNA in the future. In summary, this article elucidated the differential expression of mRNA and lncRNA in trophoblast cells infected with PRRSV. This infection could inhibit the PI3K-AKT-mTOR pathway and trigger apoptosis, providing insight into the mechanism of the vertical transmission of PRRSV and the manifestation of reproductive failure.
