Abstract: As human actions can be characterized by the trajectories of skeleton joints, skeleton-based action recognition techniques have gained increasing attention in the field of intelligent recognition and behavior analysis. With the emergence of large datasets, graph convolutional network (GCN) approaches have been widely applied for skeleton-based action recognition and have achieved remarkable performances. In this paper, a novel GCN-based approach is proposed by introducing a convolutional block attention module (CBAM)-based graph attention block to compute the semantic correlations between any two vertices. By considering semantic correlations, our model can effectively identify the most discriminative vertex connections associated with specific actions, even when the two vertices are physically unconnected. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model is effective and outperforms existing methods.

Abstract: Background: Extensive knowledge of allergic multimorbidities is required to improve the management of allergic diseases with the industrialization of China. However, the demography and allergen distribution patterns of allergic multimorbidities in China remain unclear, despite the increasing prevalence of allergies. Methods: This was a real-world, cross-sectional study of 1273 outpatients diagnosed with one or more allergic diseases in Guangzhou, the most populated city of southern China, with leading industrial and commercial centers, between April 2021 and March 2022. Seven allergic diseases (allergic rhinitis (AR), asthma (AS)/cough variant asthma (CVA), atopic dermatitis (AD)/eczema, food allergy (FA), allergic conjunctivitis (AC), drug allergy (DA), and anaphylaxis) were assessed. Positive rates of sensitization to different allergens were measured using an allergen detection system of the UniCAP (Pharmacia Diagnostics, Sweden) instrument platform to compare the groups of allergic multimorbidities against a single entity. Results: There were 659 (51.8%) males and 614 (48.2%) females aged from 4 months to 74 years included in the analysis. The study participants who were diagnosed with allergic diseases had an average of 1.6 diagnoses. Overall, 46.5% (592 of 1273) of the patients had more than one allergic condition, and allergic rhinitis was the most common type of multimorbidity. Women were more likely to suffer from an allergic disease alone, whereas allergic multimorbidities were more likely to be diagnosed in men (p = 0.005). In addition, allergic multimorbidities were common in all age groups, with an incidence ranging from 37.1% to 57.4%, in which children and adolescents were more frequently diagnosed with allergic multimorbidities than adults (18–60 years old) (all p 〈 0.05). Allergic multimorbidity was observed throughout the year. A difference in the positive rate of allergens sensitization and total immunoglobulin E (tIgE) levels between different allergic multimorbidities was observed. Conclusions: Allergic multimorbidities were very commonly found in nearly half of all patients with allergies. The proportion of allergic multimorbidities varied with the type of disease, sex, age, and allergen distribution pattern. These findings may help clinicians to develop “One health” strategies for the clinical management of allergic diseases.

Abstract: The plant-specific WUSCHEL-related homeobox (WOX) transcription factor gene family is important for plant growth and development but little studied in oil crops. We identified and characterized 58 putative WOX genes in Brassica napus (BnWOXs), which were divided into three major clades and nine subclades based on the gene structure and conserved motifs. Collinearity analysis revealed that most BnWOXs were the products of allopolyploidization and segmental duplication events. Gene structure analysis indicated that introns/exons and protein motifs were conserved in each subclade and RNA sequencing revealed that BnWOXs had narrow expression profiles in major tissues and/or organs across different developmental stages. The expression pattern of each clade was highly conserved and similar to that of the sister and orthologous pairs from Brassica rapa and Brassica oleracea. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction showed that members of the WOX4 subclade were induced in seedling roots by abiotic and hormone stresses, indicating their contribution to root development and abiotic stress responses. 463 proteins were predicted to interact with BnWOXs, including peptides regulating stem cell homeostasis in meristems. This study provides insights into the evolution and expression of the WOX gene family in B. napus and will be useful in future gene function research.

Abstract: Cu2V2O7/Cu3V2O8/g-C3N4 heterojunctions (CVCs) were prepared successfully by the reheating synthesis method. The thermal etching process increased the specific surface area. The formation of heterojunctions enhanced the visible light absorption and improved the separation efficiency of photoinduced charge carriers. Therefore, CVCs exhibited superior adsorption capacity and photocatalytic performance in comparison with pristine g-C3N4 (CN). CVC-2 (containing 2 wt% of Cu2V2O7/Cu3V2O8) possessed the best synergistic removal efficiency for removal of dyes and antibiotics, in which 96.2% of methylene blue (MB), 97.3% of rhodamine B (RhB), 83.0% of ciprofloxacin (CIP), 86.0% of tetracycline (TC) and 80.5% of oxytetracycline (OTC) were eliminated by the adsorption and photocatalysis synergistic effect under visible light irradiation. The pseudo first order rate constants of MB and RhB photocatalytic degradation on CVC-2 were 3 times and 10 times that of pristine CN. For photocatalytic degradation of CIP, TC and OTC, it was 3.6, 1.8 and 6.1 times that of CN. DRS, XPS VB and ESR results suggested that CVCs had the characteristics of a Z-scheme photocatalytic system. This study provides a reliable reference for the treatment of real wastewater by the adsorption and photocatalysis synergistic process.

Abstract: In this study, we first manufactured ultrathin g-C3N4 (CN) nanosheets by thermal etching and ultrasonic techniques. Then, EuVO4 (EV) nanoparticles were loaded onto CN nanosheets to form EuVO4/g-C3N4 heterojunctions (EVCs). The ultrathin and porous structure of the EVCs increased the specific surface area and reaction active sites. The formation of the heterostructure extended visible light absorption and accelerated the separation of charge carriers. These two factors were advantageous to promote the synergistic effect of adsorption and photocatalysis, and ultimately enhanced the adsorption capability and photocatalytic removal efficiency of methylene blue (MB). EVC-2 (2 wt% of EV) exhibited the highest adsorption and photocatalytic performance. Almost 100% of MB was eliminated via the adsorption–photocatalysis synergistic process over EVC-2. The MB adsorption capability of EVC-2 was 6.2 times that of CN, and the zero-orderreaction rate constant was 5 times that of CN. The MB adsorption on EVC-2 followed the pseudo second-order kinetics model and the adsorption isotherm data complied with the Langmuir isotherm model. The photocatalytic degradation data of MB on EVC-2 obeyed the zero-order kinetics equation in 0–10 min and abided by the first-order kinetics equation for10–30 min. This study provided a promising EVC heterojunctions with superior synergetic effect of adsorption and photocatalysis for the potential application in wastewater treatment.

Abstract: Airborne particulates (PM2.5 and TSP) were collected from outdoor and indoor areas at urban (Haizhu District) and suburban (Huadu District) sites from 2019 to 2020 in Guangzhou. Three nitro-polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (nitro-PAHs) in the airborne particulates were identified by a gas chromatograph equipped with a triple-quadrupole mass spectrometer. In the Haizhu District and Huadu District, the nitro-PAH concentrations in PM2.5 and TSP did not show a significant decrease from winter to summer. From 2019 to 2020, the difference in the average concentration of nitro-PAHs in PM2.5 and TSP in Guangzhou was relatively low and had no statistical significance. The diagnostic ratios of 2-nitrofluorene (2-NF)/1-nitropyrene (1-NP) in TSP are less than five, while for 2-NF/1-NP in outdoor PM2.5 in the summer of 2019 and 2020 are more than five, which indicates that nitro-PAHs in the atmospheric PM2.5 in Guangzhou during summer mainly originated from the secondary formation of atmospheric photochemical reactions between parent PAHs and oxidants (·OH, NO3, and O3). 9-Nitroanthracene (9-NT) made the most significant contribution to the total nitro-PAH concentration. The incremental lifetime cancer risks (ILCRs) of nitro-PAHs in PM2.5 and TSP by inhalation exposure indicated low potential health risks in the urban-suburban of Guangzhou.

Abstract: The composition of the culture medium has great influence on the metabolite production of the marine fungus Pseudallescheria boydii F44-1. By adding amino acids to GPY culture medium, two new bisindole alkaloids, pseudboindoles A and B (1 and 2), together with 11 known indole alkaloids were isolated from the culture broth. Their structures were elucidated by comprehensive analysis of the NMR, MS, IR, and UV spectra. The 3,3′-cyclohexylidenebis(1H-indole) (3) showed cytotoxic activity against various cancer cell lines.

Abstract: Three new compounds, monarubins A–C (1, 6 and 13), together with ten known compounds, including four alkaloids (2–5), two isocoumarins (7 and 8) and four polyketides (9–12), were isolated from marine shellfish-associated fungus Monascus ruber BB5. The structures were determined on the basis of the 1D and 2D NMR, MS, UV and IR data. The absolute configurations of compounds 3, 6 and 13 were determined by ECD calculations. The NMR data of compounds deoxyhydroxyaspergillic acid (3) and 2-hydroxy-6-(1-hydroxy-1-methylpropyl)-3-sec-buthylpyrazine (4) were first reported. All of the isolated compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxic activities against human nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell lines CNE1, CNE2, SUNE1 and HONE1 and hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines QGY7701 and HepG2. Monarubin B (6) displayed potent cytotoxicities against the cancer cell lines HepG2 and QGY7701 with IC50 values of 1.72 and 0.71 μΜ, respectively; lunatinin (7) showed moderate cytotoxic activities against the cancer cell lines HepG2, QGY7701 and SUNE1 with the IC50 values of 9.60, 7.12 and 28.12 μΜ, respectively.
