    Description / Table of Contents: Mid-oceanic ridges are plate boundaries where new oceanic crust is created. Especially slow-spreading ridges, like the Mid-Atlantic Ridge (MAR), reveal a complex structure denoted by magmatic and tectonic processes. In the working area of this seismic refractions study both types of crustal accretion are present. The northern segment (22.2ʿ N) compensates tectonically the tensional stresses caused by the plate tectonic movements of the African and the Northern American plates. So called detachment faults or oceanic core complexes (OCCs) develop during that tectonic phase. In the meantime the southern segment (21.5ʿ N) is a magmatically robust segment. The peculiarity of this segment is that it growths south- and northwards along the ridge axis, starting at about 5 m.y. ago. Ridge propagation was strong enough to break through a stable small offset transform fault. During propagation the transform migrated southwards, leaving behind a V-shaped structure the so called inner and outer pseudofaults. From five seismic refraction and wide-angle profiles, ridge-parallel and ridge-crossing, the seismic velocity structure was observed. The results show a strong crustal variation. The ridge-crossing profiles illustrate the temporal evolution of the crustal accretion within the magmatic robust segment. Past magmatic activities can be reconstructed. The different morphological and geological features of the area required different inversion and modelling procedures.     Description: During RV Meteor cruise M111 refraction and wide-angle reflection seismic data were acquired. We present eight seismic record sections (.sgy format) of the hydrophone components from four ocean bottom hydrophones (OBH501, OBH503, OBH505, OBH507) and four ocean bottom seismometers (OBS502, OBS504, OBS506, OBS508) along the NNE-SSW oriented seismic profile DY-05, which is situated in the Ionian Abyssal Plain. The profile stretches over a distance of 131 km and was shot using an airgun array of six G-gun clusters with a total volume of 84 l (5440 cu in) at 210 bar. A total of 946 shots were fired every 60 s (~140 m) with an airgun towed behind the vessel in a depth of 8 m. Data are unprocessed, however, they are corrected for instrument drift along the profile using the symmetry of the direct arrival and the data are time corrected.

    Description: During RV Maria S. Merian cruise MSM71 refraction and wide-angle reflection seismic data were acquired. We present profile P02 consisting of 15 seismic record sections (seg-y format) of the hydrophone components from three ocean bottom hydrophones (OBH204, OBH208, OBH212) and twelf ocean bottom seismometers (OBS201 - OBS203, OBS205-OBS207, OBS209-OBS211, OBS213-OBS215) along the SW-NE oriented seismic profile MSM71-P02, which is situated in the centre of the Ligurian Basin. The profile stretches over a distance of 127 km and was shot using an airgun array of six G-gun clusters with a total volume of 84 l (5440 cu in) at 190 bar. A total of 1079 shots were fired every 60 s (~123 m) with an airgun towed behind the vessel in a depth of 8 m. Data are unprocessed, however, they are corrected for instrument drift along the profile using the symmetry of the direct arrival and the data are time corrected.

    Description: During RV Maria S. Merian cruise MSM67 refraction and wide-angle reflection seismic data were acquired. We present seismic record sections (.sgy format) of ocean bottom seismometer components from thirty stations along the W-E oriented seismic profile MSM67-P01, which is situated at the Jan Mayen Ridge. The profile stretches over a distance of 266 km and was shot using an airgun array of six G-gun clusters with a total volume of 50 l at 140 bar. A total of 2226 shots were fired at a distance of ~110 m with an airgun towed behind the vessel in a depth of 8 m. Data are unprocessed, however, they are corrected for instrument drift along the profile using the symmetry of the direct arrival and the data are time corrected.

    Description: The dataset contains ocean bottom hydrophone data acquired on profile P02 during RV Sonne Expedition SO267 (project ARCHIMEDES I) to the Lau Basin, Southwestern Pacific. 27 OBS recorded the seismic survey successfully and returned data for the two consecutively performed acquisitions, once with a 50m shot interval and once with a 170m shot interval. The stations 207, 215 and 229 suffered from recorder errors, which prevented or interfered with the redording of data and thus their analysis.
