Abstract: Estonia and Latvia are the countries in which lives many different nationalities. The article presents the most important events from the development of Estonia and Latvia's media systems, taking into account the actions of people from different circles of civilisation. This diversity did not threaten the development of communication in this part of the world, but also allowed to rise a robust system of media functioning. Both countries were characterized by high readership levels and a high saturation of the media market. At present in Estonia's and Latvia's media are represented mainly by the interests of two groups of owners and broadcasters - the basic nation and the Russian-speaking population. The interests of both groups are not convergent and the objectivity of the press is most often is located only in the declarative sphere.

Abstract: The present study addresses the diffi culties faced by some athletes in the COVID-19 pandemic. We present the quantitative and qualitative changes in the training sessions of individual and team athletes and their adaptation to the pandemic. The study aimed principally to examine the differences in the athletes’ achievement motivation resulting from changes in weekly training volume. To check the parameters of training and pandemic adaptation, 79 volleyball, basketball, and rowing athletes aged 19−24 fi lled in the Sport Orientation Questionnaire (SOQ) and a self-constructed questionnaire. There were diff erences in the quality and quantity of training before and after the pandemic in each discipline. Most of the athletes experienced mental and physical deterioration during the pandemic but declared that they coped moderately to well. Of those athletes who reduced their weekly training, team athletes were less competitive, and a decrease in goal and win orientation in individual disciplines was observed.

Abstract: Introduction: The basic functional assessment, on the basis of which rehabilitation programming is carried out in a patient after a stroke, consists in examining the efficiency of the upper and lower limbs, balance and i.a. muscle tension. Therefore, it is important to identify and understand the relationships between these basic data in order to make conclusions easier and to set good goals in rehabilitation. Objective: The aim of the study was to investigate the relation between the assessment of the motor efficiency of the lower limb, measured Fugl-Meyer Assessment Scale (FMA) and the balance, measured Berg Balance Scale (BBS) and between the FMA and the assessment of muscle tone, measured modified Ashworth scale in chronic-phase patients after an ischemic stroke before and after a 6-week rehabilitation process. Material and methods: The study group consisted of 37 patients after stroke (post-stroke duration 〉 1 year). All patients were subjected to a double functional assessment. Main measures: motor function in the lower limb, balance and spasticity in the lower limb. Spearman correlation coefficients was used to identify and analyze the relationship between the FMA and BBS as an assessment of the increased muscle tone. Results: There was a highly significant p 〈 0.0001 positive correlation between the FMA and BBS tests: first period r = 0.6120, second period r = 0.6604. There was a highly significant (p 〈 0.0001) negative correlation between the assessment of FMA test and the muscle tone: first period r = -0.6814, second period r = -0.6532. Conclusions: People in chronic phase after an ischemic stroke have a high positive correlation between the motor efficiency of the lower limb and balance. This study shows also a high, negative correlation between the motor efficiency of the lower limb, and the muscle tone of this limb. Both before and after rehabilitation process.

Abstract: The article focusses on the issue of joint physical custody as a method of regulating parental authority after divorce or separation in the Polish family law. The purpose of the analysis is to clarify the concept of joint physical custody, its relation to parental authority and practical problems related to the institution of joint physical custody. Joint physical custody has not been regulated directly in the Polish law and therefore raises many doubts in the courts. It leads to different treatment of citizens by the public authorities. The article also discusses development of joint physical custody in the United States considered to be the birthplace of this institution. In foreign legal systems, the rule is to maintain parental authority of both parents after divorce. This corresponds to strong belief on the European and international forum that such an arrangement is the most appropriate for the best interests of the child

Abstract: Introduction. Injuries of the ankle joint are among the most common injuries of the locomotor system, occurring both among athletes and people involved in amateur sports and other recreational activities. The objective of the study was to assess the incidence of injuries to the ankle joint in a group of professional and amateur dancers representing different dance styles. Material and research method. The research initially covered a group of 98 dancers. Ultimately, 64 dancers qualified for the study, including 28 men (44%) and 36 women (56%) aged between 17 and 23 years. The study was conducted among the registered active dancers from all over Poland. It was based on a survey questionnaire designed by the researchers. The obtained data was subjected to calculations using the Excel 2010 spreadsheet. Results. In the group surveyed, 53 individuals (83%) suffered injury to only one ankle joint. Ankle joint injuries recurred with a variable frequency, usually between 2 and 5 times, in 7 (53%) ballroom dancers, 10 (59%) jazz dancers, 4(16%) dancers in the group of jazz dance, and 7 dancers in the group of modern jazz. Ankle joint injuries usually occurred during the training – 49 (76,6%) of the respondents, 10 individuals (15,6%) suffered injury after the training, and 5 persons (7,8%) – during various recreational activities. Conclusions. Ankle joint injuries affect a wide group of dancers, and their frequency is associated with the lack of professional experience. The majority of injuries occur in the initial period of dancing. The dance style and the type of shoes used, such as ballet shoes or highheeled shoes, have no effect on the incidence of injuries.
